Why is the Ascona not avalable for purchase in the garage section? Some sort of bug? Every single other car is available.

The available cars rotate in some fashion. Not sure what the methodology is but I was looking for the mini and one day it wasn't available and the next it was.

The inventory of cars available rotates every 8 hours. Actually so far it has just flipped back and forth between two selections. Neither selection contains every car.

Edited to add: the Ascona is in one of them, so if it isn't available now, it will be after the next inventory change.

Is there any news on DD wheels? Are they going to be supported? The DD1 for instance.

Enjoying this game so far, that's not to say it's not without it's issues though. There are a few elements that I think the original Dirt Rally excelled on that just don't seem quite up to scratch yet.

FFB is obviously the first one. I can drive fairly fast on the stages (setting top 10 times on the leaderboards) but I just never quite feel like I know what the car is doing properly. I've messed around with the settings a fair amount but until they issue a fix I'm reluctant to do any further experimenting. I'll just drive it as it is.

I'd be intrigued to other peoples thoughts on this but I'm a bit disappointed with the stages too if I'm honest. I love Argentina & Spain (as both nail the characteristics of those iconic rallies) but all the others just feel a bit meh to me. Nothing matches the rollercoaster that was Wales, or the fast technical challenge of Greece that the original DR launched with. I think the DR2 stages just miss that 'wow' factor that the original games stages had. There were always some awesome sections that really stood out. I'm not sure I've found that yet on DR2.

Also, I know we have ex-WRC stuff on the way but it's a massive shame it didn't launch with some relatively recent WRC cars on. They were my most used cars in DR as you just felt like you'd been strapped into a rocket propelled shopping cart with excessive levels of grip. It was a proper thrill ride. The R5's are fast...but they aren't WRC level fast.

Lastly...more of a minor point but does anyone else miss the fact your car doesn't seem to remain dirty between stages anymore? This was a feature in DR & Dirt 4 so I'm kinda confused why it's not present here? There was something cool about seeing your car sat on the start line caked in mud from the previous stage. Maybe that's just me though...:boggled:

The RWD cars are very difficult to drive. Now, before anyone gets all "you probably just suck"... yes, yes I do, but the RWD physics, even on the slowest of cars, such as the Ford Escort are difficult to control with a controller (wheel might make things easier), but no matter how much I feather that throttle, the back end wants to swing out. But then maybe it's realistic?

I take it the 1995 impreza is also available and rotates with the rest of the cars in the game? I am playing dr 2 for the first time today and after the removal of my 4 favourite cars (the 2000’s) ones i had planned to use my next favourite one of the 1995 impreza.

The evo is currently for sale though and that’s a cool new addition to keep me going : )

I bet it is tricky on a controller. Try setting the rear as soft as possible in the setup. Maybe even try to apply some assists? There is alot of power coming through those tiny rear wheels. Throttle control is crucial, and I understand it can be hard with a pad.

Hi can someone put a good FFB settup? (I mean %, wheel degrees, saturation, SAT, etc..) I m running the game with logitech g29 wheel on ps4. Thanks!

What @bogani says, throttle easy. And the escort is the hardest RWD. Try the 240. I think due to its longer wheelbase, it behaves a bit friendlier.

edit:
Just watching last weeks Grand Tour and I want the Alfa GTV6 back in DR2:

For RWD cars and a controller, I actually found that I have an easier time with Traction Control at 1 rather than 4 or 5. Why? The higher settings caused so much understeer that I ended up sliding off the road a lot more.

Umzz I am the only one noticing that after the hype build up towards release it has been pretty much come to a standstill and not a lot of outlets and social media are talking about it anymore? Codies forum is calm, here it is pretty calm, Reddit has been docile and Steam has a few topics.

The topics that are there are mostly of people who aren't that happy.

Sure they need some time to patch things up but I find it very very calm so short after release.

Codemasters has completely botched the release. The good physics are being overshadowed by questionable design desicions, the most critical being hiding the fact that Career (My Team) needs a constant connection to RaceNet.

The other main complaints are "missing" FFB effects, lack of content, and re-selling DR content as DLC. And now that people have some hours in the game, lots of bugs are appearing. Steam reviews are even more negative than on Metacritic.

This is definitely not a good way to start out with what was supposed to be an excellent and long-lived sequel to our beloved DiRT Rally.

I have to admit that I was one of those who spoke about this game before having it - I just wanted to know why people spoke so badly of it.
I bought it and no regrets mates.... the game is very fun.
With some FFB help (thanks @MarcoM) the game is really good, graphics, physics, stages...
Yesterday I started the career, Argentina what a tricky rally!! I don´t know if when I buy a new car, stages will be the same, but for now, I´m really satisfied with it.

Damn I didn't even see that up until know. Damage done is pretty much the thing that comes into mind..:indiff:

I just find the main career mode to be such a drag. So much so, I've been avoiding it and focusing on the daily and weekly events instead - I can't stand having one of my cars locked out until I've completed like 30+ stages. :ouch:

Cars are cheap, I just buy new ones. I have 3 H1's now since that is the prevailing Daily format.

or just leave the carreer mode and have your kicks in the Free play mode. I mean everything and even more is available over there.
Only problem is you don't get creds for that, but between all the dailies and weekly's I'm swimming in cred's as is.

True, although I do prefer the sense of progression career mode offers. The Daily/Weekly event setup is enough to keep me interested, but as mentioned by @Northstar I hope they increase the variety of classes soon. I can understand the majority of players are in starter cars, but that should change once people have received a number of payouts from the Weeklys.

You've got to tune it out, increase toe in a lot at the rear, and lock up the diff more.
You'll have to play about with it, but persevere, they're great fun when you get them set up right.

Thanks, I'll mess around with the tuning a bit and even see if Traction Control settings help, as @GroupB suggested. It just seems a bit more difficult to control the RWD cars than it was in DR1, to me. All hope is lost if they add the Lancia 037 in DR2.0.

I'm still having a blast, the steep learning curve is actually a good thing to me in the game.
