Is it my imagination or did the VW Polo not actually get it's new livery? It says the VW Polo S1600, and I've checked both VW and none of them have the Season 1 livery. So...
The S1600 Rallycross car did get it's new livery, yes. It's not extremely exciting tbh, but it's definitely there. Perhaps check in the store to see if you've downloaded the livery pack?

Wait is it the Swiss Army black/yellow livery? Because everything else got the special Dirt 2.0 Season 1 livery. I downloaded the pack. Everything else has the white Season 1 livery. But my have it unless they didn't put it at the end like usual with the Polo.

If memory serves me correct, it should be mainly white with yellow around the bottom trim. 5 Liveries total for that car. (At work currently, but can verify in a couple hours)

So, DiRT Rally 2.0 is currently on sale on the Xbox store ($39 for standard, $52 for digital deluxe) and I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on it. I'd be playing with a standard Xbox controller, no wheel or anything. I've also never played the original DiRT Rally, but put a lot of time into DiRT 4 (mostly on the casual setting) and DiRT 3 (not really comparable, I know). I've also played a small amount of PCARS, Asseto Corsa, and a healthy amount of PCARS 2 with the controller as far as console simulations go. I have a few questions.

1) Are these acceptable prices for the game in its current state?
2) How difficult is the game with a controller, compared to the aforementioned titles? Are there in-game settings that can be used to make getting into the game easier?
3) In particular, how are the Historic and RallyX disciplines? Those were my favorite disciplines in DiRT 4, and alongside the Rally GT cars, are the disciplines I'd be most eager to get into.
4) Any basic car settings that can help a newcomer? I know that a lot of vehicle tuning comes down to the type of vehicle as well as the stage conditions, but are there any general rules/tips that work in the game as a whole?
5) Is the "feature" from DiRT 4 where opponents would change their speed based on the car you chose still present?
6) How's the online elements of the game? Is multiplayer fun and engaging or a crash-fest?

Thanks in advance, all.

Even though the codriver asks if I want to make any setup changes at the next service, there’s no option on the monthlies. :irked:

1. Plenty of cars for the price. Locations might get a little repetitive after a while but the driving experience is so good you’ll enjoy learning as you go along.

2. I’m on a controller and I’m one of the fastest players on Xbox. I’ve got a guide on my YouTube for settings.

3. Both are good. There’s also a Historic Championship series where you start in older cars and progress to more modern machinery.

4. In Career you need to unlock Tuning. Elsewhere it’s freely available. Don’t have many tips but I would suggest upping the ride height for Argentina as it’s very bumpy.

5. No idea. I mainly do Daily Challenges and humans are my opponents.

6. Multiplayer is pretty barebones, not a lot of people online. You also share events with AI so you’re not always battling humans in Rallycross.

New video from me today:

I had a chance to try the daily ai challenge this morning in the Stratos on a course near the ocean.
Wow.
I really really really like the way this game drives. I did really well the first three minutes or so, then had a couple offs costing me a lot of time. Nothing too bad just a couple spins or a bit into the bushes. No pens or car recoveries necessary. You lose gads of time mid rally doing three point turns tho haha.
Finished up pretty clean. Watching the replay kinda mesmerized me for a bit...I ended sub 1300 on the global leaderboard. My offs cost me a ton of time, I wanted to do another try but it seems on the challenges you get one attempt and that’s it.
One question, I don’t have any aids on. there was one on the bottom brake delay or something it was defaulted at 5 so I turned it off. What does that do?
On wheel in car the immersion is amazing. I like the inflection from the co driver when you get saucy and close to the edge of control.
Also, is there a way to save the replays inside the game?
Also, I am running PS4 with fanatec. Is it worth getting the handbrake and shifter? I really like manual sequential, just wondering about the implementation in game...
This is by far the best rally sim I have used. I really love driving the vintage rear drive...
Final question, I have a couple friends considering purchase. Is it possible for PS4 to easily do rallycross p v p online and can you fill rest of grid with ai while doing so?
Thanks for the help.

Great to hear you're enjoying it @Groundfish.
Haven't seen the Brake Delay you mentioned. Found it, Time Control Braking, hadn't seen it before. A Manual Gearbox and Handbrake will add to the experience, unfortunately the G29 has no Handbrake for me yet. I've had to use manual sequential lately, after a wrist injury making it hard to steer with one hand. Love the shifter for the fun factor, if I'm not doing daily challenges though. Not sure on the PVP setup. Mainly do Daily and occasionally weekly time trials and find that works well with different timezones. See you on the boards as a fellow midpack runner.

@Groundfish I think you’re referring to ‘time control breaking’, as @kembro mentions above. That basically helps you break and come to a full stop after you finish a stage and approach the Marshall who waves you to stop. If you put it on 5, the car will apply gas and break itself up to the Marshall. If you have it on 0, you’ll be fully driving and breaking yourself. Not really a true assist/aid imo.
Not sure about your other questions but good to hear the game plays well with a Fanatec on PS4, as I’m thinking of upgrading to that wheel soon.

anybody see simracing girls video driving m1 procar in monte carlo, nice to see a real video and not a cleaned up 20th attempt

Yes, liked the live talk and drive though her other videos are fine too. She should try streaming sometime.

It’s got to be tough talking and trying to put up a fast run in a rally stage for anybody. Talk, listen, drive, think, react. Not easy.

And what’s up with the top time of 8:18? Is that even realistically possible IRL? It’s like a computer posted that time.

Tried a couple of runs myself in open kadett ,10 mins including several crashes so I think 9 minutes would be achievable,8 .18 not possible I reckon

I'm in a serious spot of bother at the moment. My repair bills have been extremely high after each rally and at this rate, I'll go broke. After 2 rallies, I've spent over $300,000...:boggled: What's worse is that I had to retire from one rally, and my earnings are very poor. I have to do rallycross now just to earn some money; but the payouts aren't very big at the moment. Sadly, I have a difficult choice to make - drive more cautiously but get bad results, which won't give you a large payout; or get good results with a large payout, but have a massive repair bill. I can drive fast but it requires a stupid amount of concentration and I simply can't keep it up for long enough. Maybe I need to work on my setups some more.

Here's the video for everyone's reference:

Most of my videos are first attempt runs too, with Daily Challenges you only get one shot anyway :)

I'm on a controller though, if I was on a wheel I'd need 20 tries just to keep it straight

Same here, just don't see the point of faking it, you get to see me as rubbish as I am.

The M1's not to bad with a wheel, oddly the worst car I've come across so far in that regard is the Escort with the stock set-up.

There’s some new trophies to be had in the latest update for Season 1.

What if you went fast in a slower car rally? Still would get a good payout, but would be in more control and have a smaller repair bill?

Yeahhhh i got the audi quattro trophy for being in tier1.

I did the weekly group B event, got 51th overall when i finished It 3 days ago. Logged today after the update and boom got it. Happy as i will Platinum the game for sure.

That's definitely an idea but I don't really want to lower myself to a slower category...

I quote myself just to provide an advice to those trying to achieve this. Just do monthly or weekly events. I am not good at this game and i ended-up 51th overall in a weekly event. Probably because people do not complete It or totale their car.

In dailies with the quattro i was between150-250 everytime, loosing on avg 8sec per sector vs top time.

Although, was it the female circuit board mounted connector that you ripped off? If it was the male, not the female, then you can buy more mini micro wires and connectors off eBay for a couple of quid and splice the wire in somewhere alone the cable run from the buttons.
