Damn, the VW Polo is an absolute beast. Is this car the equivalent of ....ummm, RS tires in Gran Turismo?

:embarrassed:

It's the car that dominated these last few WRC seasons (dammit, Ogier!), so it's not a big surprise.

It was damn fine in WRC3 too and would regularly come in top in the MP matches - It's far better in DR though.

If you're on PC, this is a mod for it that exists. :P

Is the control pad faster than the wheel on ps4? Usually with Codies games im a couple or more seconds faster with the pad
I think the one major benefit that wheel users have over pad users in this game is throttle control. It's really important in this game. A hell of a lot of the steering is done with the throttle and the better control you have over the better your driving and, as a result, your times will be.

Yeah, I'm aware of that. VW's car for next season looks even more bonkers.

I did two runs at Fourkéta Kourva (Master difficulty) and while I was 3+ seconds down on my first run, I beat the AI by ~1.5 seconds the second run without much effort. Or maybe it was just a one off thing.

:P

Yeah, some of the liveries are pretty horrible. The Lancia Rally 037 was particularly disappointing.

This one drives me nuts because the solution is pretty easy...fan made liveries. This is one thing Project CARS did right --- let fans design the liveries, and you can even force fake ones (no real sponsors etc.). The stuff in Dirt Rally is borderline unacceptably bad.

Thankfully it's not something you see that often. I'd have prefer simple colours with number boards and nothing else over the awful schemes they've selected.

Yes, they have a handful of legitimate ones (or simple knock-offs) but they are very few and far between compared to the majority. The Kadett one you chose is the only way I'll drive that car. :D

Damn, the F2 Kit Cars are rubbish on tarmac, particularly in Germany - I can usually attack Germany the way I would a circuit and I can get some really quick stage times out of it, but I am currently doing ten stages to develop the 306 Maxi and it pitches into a spin as soon as you load it under braking from about 150km/h.

It's a shame that we never really got to see Loeb and Ogier going head-to-head. Tommi Mäkkinen has said that he wants to put Loeb and Petter Solberg in the Toyotas next year, but I think that he'll struggle to get either of them, much less both.

We kind of did a few times when they were team mates, I know a lot of team orders ruined the end results but we saw how evenly matched they were many times. I get the feeling Loeb retired because he wanted to remain unbeaten and he knew Ogier and the VW were a threat.

That would be so epic if Loeb and Solberg came back, but yeah I doubt it.

The little Yaris WRC makes me giggle...in a good way. So tiny with such huge suspension and nobby little tires on little black wheels. It looks hilarious. Also in a good way.

Loeb has made the plunge onto touring cars - albeit posting the current world record at the Pikes Peak, while Solberg is currently dominating the rallycross scene. So yeah, Makinen will have a hard time getting the two of them back. XD

Loeb is with Hanssen and Peugeot in Rallycross this year where his direct opponent will be Sollberg. He also more or less confirmed (documentary here in France) that he would be at Dakar with Peugeot again. Don't think he will go to Toyota anyway. If he decides to come back the WRC that will probably be with Peugeot as well to develop the new WRC car. The last only have been rumours.

The only real appeal for Loeb to come back would be to win a tenth World Championship title - something that nobody, not even Michael Schumacher or Valentino Rossi, has ever done before.

The fastest controller time is 6 seconds off of the fastest wheel time in yesterday's Daily event. That's still a Top 10 overall however so I would put it down to preference.

Personally I race on a controller (all assists off) and for the most part it's fine. RWD cars are very "floaty" but still driveable.

Giacomo Agostini, italian biker, won 15 titles in the motorbike Championship and 10 times the TT. In fact in Italy is a legend, greater than Valentino. However you know Rossi is more actual.

I think DiRT Rally is the best game I've ever played. Never has anything been so intense, so strategic, so thrilling. The purity of this game is insane, you have to play a mental and physical game, just like the real thing. My head was hurting last night because I was concentrating so hard trying to keep my Lancia Stratos in check. I have never felt this way whilst playing a video game and I love it.

Floaty like last gen Dirt and Grid floaty? For me since Codies moved to the Ego engine thats when this Floaty feeling was introduced and i hated it.

The thing about bikes is that many of these titles happen across multiple classes of machinery, so it's hard to give a 125cc world championship the same weight as a 500cc world championship. To my mind, it would be the same as Loeb winning titles in the WRC, WRC-2 and WRC-3. But ten titles in the premier class is unheard-of.

Its an incredible game, there's tonnes of reviews on youtube / internet, you only need read few random pages on here to see how well received it been, a real breath of fresh air and tour de force which the devs should be applauded for, no BS, no bluster, no making mistakes and blaming consoles and or weak PC's.. no calling consumers 'idiots' from the head of studio...
Yes you need to be willing to spend a bit of time with the FFB settings and clearly work on setting up car each stage etc.. but its simple to do.
IMO its the best driving game this gen for pure immersion, which is as much down to the intensity of rallying itself admittedly. Its just given me some of the most intense and incredible and visceral moments in gaming ever.
I can't believe that anyone even remotely into Motorsport and driving games hasn't already got this game and even more so if all they have is a console.
Basically..go get it already...

I don't think anything can compare to what those guys do on two wheels, even rally drivers IMO.... Also sometimes drivers just hit a patch where they win a lot but against what and more so if the car they are in is so far and away the best... so its all swings and round abouts. Stirling Moss never even was a champion but hes a class above many so called legends with many championships...IMO...

Only briefly played the game (still waiting someone sharing good T500RS settings for PS4). I've just been doing single events to enjoy the audio/tactile. The game can produce very deep effects mainly from the bumps/road surfaces. Not compared enough of the cars/tracks yet but certainly from a game audio tactile perspective it is rather excellent.

Regards Tactile/Buttkickers these settings worked well for me.
I find the engine can greatly mask the tactile sensation felt from the bumps but changes may be needed with different tracks/cars as the sensation and user preference may vary.

I am currently using 2 full size LFE (1 pedals 1 seat). Also additional TST tactile on the seat for L/R Stereo immersion and a rear mounted unit on the back of the seat to enhance the engine (via centre channel).

Change Dynamic to LOW
Use FLAT preset
Engine 50-70
Effects 70-90
Surface 100

Interior views offer much greater bass emphasis in the audio output.

Something else i'm getting from this game is the seeming lack of haters or fanboys, this game seems to of just ripped up the rule book. Not sure how they have even done it but in this thread and others around the internet people can simply give their opinions on it and its all fine. I think people are so bowled over by this game or if not just respecting the devs and what they have tried to set out to achieve.
Its like most games offer the world but give little, this never really offered anything but a great rally driving experience and it delivers in abundance... that's all it needs.
Devs and publishers etc need to take a good look at this hell even the section of codemasters that makes the F1 games needs to take some advice off the DiRT guys and gals...
Graphically its along the lines of say a Race Room type game where the graphics are a function but the most important part is the physics and feel... I'd happily take PCars with a bit less glitz for a smoother ride and better physics anyday. Sometimes at the start of a rally I look at the blocky humans and the pixel shadows....then the lights go green and i'm like whoooooa, here we go... smooth awesome physics...all that REALLY matters..

Yeah ive read the reviews it all sounds great but even last gen codies games got very good reviews and most people on here loved autosport but i just hated the floaty feeling. Would hate to buy this and it still suffers from that ego floatyness like the poster suggested.
