Disappointed...

Do we really need another thread for this?

I am not objecting to your opinion on the matter, but there are LOTS of threads all saying the same thing...
That might tell you something about a lot of people's response to the game...

I'm just a bit surprised that people are only just getting what was quite clear in the copper box reveal.

You're right, it does indeed explain a lot about people's response. I'm not saying he is not correct, or he's not allowed an opinion, I'm just saying that we don't need ANOTHER thread about it...

I think we aficionados pay a lot more attention to things like Copper Box and all the information leading up to release than the casual player does. My son is what I'd call a casual player but an avid gamer generally, someone who might put 50 hours into this game over its lifespan and he had no idea the car and track list was so small and that there was no offline career until after the game released and he read some reviews on Metacritic.

And everything you said will be fixed with a patch

Why does it always take a patch these days? Whatever happened to shipping full games?!

That said, it may keep interest in the game for longer to drip feed content to players, so it's possibly intentional - even if it does blight the review scores upon the initial release.

Because, there is NO Career mode, NO Car Tuning...

The amount of the Cars are also not that big but this could be fixed with time with DLC's...
...sadly game is designed this way, with the patch/DLC they can add cars, tracks, maybe some events, but to change core of the game, it'll need a bit more then just a patch/DLC.

However I'm with you on this... The Group N needs big redesign... At least that one should be what we had in earlier GT instalments, with PP rating that was used in GT6 with some fixes...

Not a game developer, computer engineer, or anything even remotely related to that field. But if I had to guess because it's 2017 and games more advanced than ever.
It seems like PD built this game from scratch as it carries nothing from the previous games (no car, no sound, no track, everything was made from scratch). It's a new era of Gran Turismo and I think expecting 1000 cars and all that stuff on day 1 release of the game is unrealistic.

They've had a long time and have a big team backed by Sony, so I'd have thought more content would be achievable. Other developers have managed it in less time and included car damage etc in the car models as well.

I just think that being able to add content later makes these developers lazy, so they don't ready the game fully in the first place and just rely on fixing it later. Also, they've given us all this car history stuff, which probably took them away from adding other content, and realistically most people won't bother with it or give it more than a quick glance. After all, people buy the game to drive the cars, not read about them.

It's not just the lack of cars/tracks, it's little things like last night when the server went down.
The server will need maitenence I understand that, it's how the game becomes basically unusable when it happens.
I'd like it if they could at least unlock the Livery editor during these times so we can work on something.
Arcade only doesn't cut it.

I walked into two game stores yesterday both had GTS for sale. I looked at the cases and walked on by.

Today I walked in one game store and they had the DS4/game.combo. I walked on by.

Not buying this until they add an offline save and allow everything not called Sport or Lobby to be used when the server goes down.

'May' be fixed with a patch.

Unless you have a source from PD or Sony confirming that additional campaign content and a return to the traditional car upgrades is coming, if you do please share as that would be a major story for GT Planet to break.
I think he was being sarcastic.

I hate to say it, but with PD, releasing a complete game would cause further delays. Anyone familiar with GT and PD knows that they are perfectionists, a fact which has its pros and cons. Relying on future patches and updates does not make the developers lazy. At some point they have to decide the game is ready enough for release and get it out, knowing it's not perfect and no software ever will be perfect. Patches and updates are exciting, for me... there will be more content, 100% guaranteed! The game currently has about 140 cars and Kaz has *repeatedly* stated the final tally will be over 450? So many people hear what he's saying, but hardly anyone is listening. New tracks, new features, lots more to come. In the end, this is a new era for Gran Turismo and the voice of reason says that there will be growing pains. Just be patient and enjoy the game for what it is. If you don't enjoy it, sell it and move on. Just don't expect it to be anything more than it is at this moment. More is coming, it's just not here yet.
