Does he not realize the Signature & Collectors content is NOT locked to the account that purchased it?!?! 99% of my paid DLC is usable with other accounts. Someone is lying or Sony just flipped the "let's screw our consumer base" switch.

My stealth car from pre-order can be used on any account on the same PS3, and it cannot be duped or glitched, so what's the excuse for the DLC not being the same?

PD/Sony knows how to do this, and they decided not to, it's that simple. Somehow all the "Sony forced PD" remarks are already coming out... Amazing how PD can do no wrong in some people's eyes. Of course it's not PD's fault, nothing bad ever is, isn't that right?
Just angels being forced by the evil hand of Sony again I guess...:sly:

The locked DLC to account ID doesn't affect me and if its not the first game to have this then I can understand.

What I can't understand is how you can not allow users to change they're country but then region lock the DLC to the same region as the disc.

People do move around so either let them change their country and PSN store or make the DLC region free.

If the DLC was included in the Spec 2 update how can it be region locked when I'm able to use all the items that came for free with the update?

I absolutely love the game and this is the first time I have complained but I am not starting the whole game over again get access to the DLC.

I honestly didn't know other games worked the same way regarding DLC. Besize that, I fully agree with you. I have a Japanese PS3, a US GT5 disc, and an Argentine PSN account. People travel and move all the time from a country to another. There are no royalty restrictions like it happens with movies in this case as Sony and PD have worldwide rights for GT5. Then I think the fact is that this entire issue is just to avoid people from getting DLC at cheaper PSN Stores than the one in the country where they belong. I could handle that, that's how economy works, but in that case, they should at least provide a PSN store for each country in which they sale consoles.

Does any other car game let you re-buy them inside the game?

Yes, see Shift 2. Not only were the DLC cars in that game $0 in in-game credits, you could also own as many as you want.

What is happening now with the GT5 DLC is something I would expect EA to do, but no, looks like they're not the biggest scumbags after all.

Kaz or/and Sony are pure bull**** liars.

I have bought many game which are US disk and played on my EU PS3 with my EU PSN account then bought DLC without any problem and all of it were available to all users.

@Kaz/PD/Sony:
Stop the crap, apologize and fix it!

That's right. Sony does business, scumbags.

That's me, except I'm laughing.

Region lock DRM Nazis go to hell. :grumpy:

Right now I'd wish all Sony managers were locked in a Hotel room in Zaire, with a PS3, online access, a north american PSN account and a european credit card, and the only way out for them is them doing a hotlap in Spa with a McLaren F1 stealth!

And if they fail, they have to have an orgy with Rosie O'Donnell. :yuck:

Haha, made my day.👍

Really a challenge that not even Chuck Norris or MacGyver could beat. Maybe Rosie, but that's it. :D

It's clear there is an effort to effect a change in policy regarding DLC, and whilst there was once a way to give us what we expected (as you just described), Sony no longer want to use that model. Obviously Kaz has a massive interest to stay on Sony's good side, but it is possible he's just being naïve, although it's unlikely, I think.

This trend of games publishers becoming increasingly distrustful of gamers and imposing such heavy control measures on us is getting quite tiring. It's like the whole pirated movies thing; only the legitimate copies have the annoying adverts and DRM 🤬 on them, whilst the "pirates" can just get on with watching the movie.

I hope Sony realise that they're only cultivating a sense of miscontent amongst their customer base with these practices.

I have a general question. If one who had purchased the DLC track enter the lounge of somebody who has not purchased the DLC, could the one who purchased change it to a DLC track in the lounge of the host who has not?

The solution is actually very easy:
When someone activates the DLC ingame, it should put a tag about that in the gamedata (which is the same for all users on the PS3), I think right now it only is in your save data, and in your PSN account. If it is in your gamedata, it can be detected from other users accounts (like it is done with lap records now) and activated there.

This can eventually solve 1 problem, the single PSN id issue. (And if you are so kind to post a step by step tutorial for dummies I'll be greatful).

But it doesn't solve the BIGGEST problem we have here. The strange mix, "blue ray, PSN store, and console not in celestial harmony" as someone said. I read someone tweeted KY about the single id issue, ok that's one issue, but KY need to know about the other one too.

It isn't their decision. They were the ones who made it, they're not the ones selling it directly to us.

is there anything we can do as a community?
we could flood kaz's twitter, but seems like this is sony's decision.

in the end this isn't that bad. It's not like when downloadable content started, in which there was nothing much you can do.
Now it's pretty simple: the money I was going to spend on gt5's dlc, now is going to turn 10.

I cant understand how they decided to strict the DLC even more. Only 1 account on the system can use it?! WTF?!! Also its region locked, so if you have PAL copy and live somewhere else you cant have the DLC. Come on that's just messed up... Sony keeps sinking and sinking, and im about to stop supporting them. They have done soo many mistakes! Its unacceptable.

I think its a bit bizarre you can't rebuy these cars or have unlimited amounts of these paints, otherwise what's the point of using them? The fact they have no paint preview for the actual car makes me not want to use these paints at all. I'd like to buy duplicates of those cars just for my own purposes.

I don't have issues with the ID thing but I sympathise with those who do, there should be someway around it. I'm sure stuff I've bought off the PS Store has previously had "up to 5 accounts" or something to this effect.

Thinking the same thing.

Who would've thought?

Actually glad the DLC got delayed for NA. I was going to get it, but realized its not really a game changer anyway. Even though all my accounts, discs, ps3, blah blah match, I'm not going to get the DLC for spite of the issue that is going on.

Its funny how some people are saying they need to buy the DLC mutiple times because of muliple accounts. You don't need to buy anything.

This a total non-issue, you can buy cards from everywhere and anyone who bought a game from a different region shoud've known this when setting up their account IMO. However there might be exceptions, those should be a minority tho.
The big No, No is the ID lock, reminds me of Konami ID, lets just hope PD aren't as boneheaded...

Okai, this is very unlikely, but what do you think about this (im talking about the special bonus people get in NA/CAN):

I would love it if PD were giving away Dan Wheldons car in the DLC as a final tribute for him. I don`t know, but it seems like the delay was a last minute decision. Maybe PD already got Indycar modells, then they would only have to do the livery.

My first thought was blame gameshare...
But I don't care, I have multiple accounts (to dupe) but only play at one so time to enjoy :D
Hope they fix the situation to everybody though 👍

Adding another car to a paid DLC pack to honour a late great racing driver so soon after his passing is not in especially good taste.
If the tribute were to be made without a necessary (extra) purchase, it might be better; otherwise, it just comes across as opportunistic.

At least he concedes that there IS a problem here.

I tweeted him 30 minutes ago saying this:

@Kaz_Yamauchi DLC being locked to one account is wrong. I love Spa but this is not acceptable. Sorry, but I will not buy. Good luck!

That's good, hopefully he rethinks the whole ID lock thing. 👍

I just tweeted him a possible solution, by lowering the price for the DLC to around 4€, so it won't be so expensive to those needing/wanting to buy it for several accounts..

At least that would take care of my objections to the 'one pack, one account'..

For everyone who's suffered with the multiple-purchase problem, what have you done to sort things out? Has anyone got their money back or had it confirmed that their money/credits will be refunded?

Myself, I presumed that the download had failed somehow, (maybe it timed-out while I was re-entering my card details), and tried a second time. Only after seeing two purchase confirmation emails did I figure out that it had worked the first time...

After emailing networksupport@uk.playstation.com, I get a mandraulically generated email asking to call them and confirm my details, then calling the number, talked to a pleasant, but not terribly well informed guy who promised to forward my email up to the relevant team. Not entirely reassuring...

If the delay is due PD/Sony adding content related to the Indy accident ...
If there is not an increase in DLC price then i see it as a tribute no matter how soon it is.

One purchase for each account seems about right to me. We may have been spoiled with earlier bonuses.

What??? No issue? Maybe you are missing something, there are people who does not have a PSN from their country. How they can buy the DLC? No DLC for them because they are a minority? LoL 👎

It's a shame some of you once again go in "selfsish mode" when something is going wrong. We all should try to be helpful. I don't have this problem but I hope they fix it SOON.

What if I bought a PS3 in Canada, moved to Dubai, setup an PSN ID there and then moved back to Canada. I buy GT5 here, play it on a NA PS3 but my ID is from Dubai. I shouldn't be allowed to buy the DLC?

A step-by-step is not really possible, because PD has to do this.
As for the exotic combinations, there probably won't be a fix. A lot of games have region locked DLC.

First impression from DLC: Bring the cars to the garage is boring due to having them in ticket form  Cars are awesome tough!
