so, is there a FM predictions thread?
i would like to see some from this community.
Assuming it is going to be shown on 12th, of course.

I think they have a deal with Apollo, and that's why the IE was featured heavily in the reveal. While there are several contenders for a cover car (296 GT3, Huayra R, C8 Z06, 992 GT3rs etc.), i think this is it :
The Apollo Project Evo. unveiled in Nov last year.View attachment 1157699View attachment 1157700
That's a badass lookin' car you posted there. :D We know Chris Esaki has confirmed back in December of last year that he, and the team at T10, have A LOT of news to share about the new FM in 2022. We predict the Xbox and Bethesda Game Showcase is the place where the game will fully get unveiled, with a release date for Fall 2022. After the game's showcase we will hear brand new details about the game, like new features, modes and more. Just to add: This FM is going for a more hardcore route this time around, especially on a brand new engine that even FH5 lacks (), which will, hopefully, allow the franchise to be back to it's formal glory of FMs of old but better in the sim and online aspect. :)

Edit: After it's big reveal, expect to hear news about it in Forza Monthly every month up until it's big release (crossing my fingers for this year), which is gonna stir up so much hype!

If we go by previous launches, we should also have weekly/monthly car and track list reveals. I liked what PGG did with their Let’s ¡GO! livestreams. I hope T10 does something similar with bi weekly livestreams about the game, and hopefully release a demo like they did for FM7.

GASP I have literally forgotten all about that! Man, how long has it been we've played a new FM title. I hope T10 does do that, especially to keep the hype flowing. A demo would be an icing on a cake. :)

I think that I would be extremely happy if they get the full IMSA and Indycar series licenses for the Motorsport part of the game coupled with a 'lifestyle' part for regular cars/sport cars (more casual racing, garages, cribs, customization, etc.)

My predictions are a little different;

  • A lot of people have been saying FM8 will be on a "new engine" because it's slated to release only on Series S/X. I think it'll actually just be on Forzatech (like FH5), just with bigger engine enhancements and improvements because of the increased development time
  • Will be Xbox Series S and X only.
  • Full release will be 2023. We will get an Open Beta later this year or early access with limited content (say 3 tracks and 40ish cars from a few classes) to test multiplayer race weekends that T10 have specifically mentioned on Forza livestreams.
  • PI system will be split into Road & Race. Much like FM2 with R Class.
  • Full dynamic weather/time of day system on every track. 25-30ish environments in at launch (similar to FM7 I feel)
  • IMSA Partnership with the full Weathertech SCC tracklist in game. (FM7 already had most of these - we just need Belle Isle, Mid-Ohio and Canadian Tire Motorsport Park)
  • No return of Fujimi or any old Legacy track. (In fact I think they'll cull a few from FM7 like Bernese Alps and Prague)
  • Around 300-350 cars at launch. People expecting even 500-600 cars I think are reaching. 800+ you are dreaming. Would love to be wrong of course.
  • I think each road car will also have new Forza aero much like GT7 to make "race spec" cars out of the road vehicles in the game. (I believe T10 might have mentioned something about looking into new aero?)
  • No rally (most of the off-road spec vehicles from Horizon will be cut for FM8)
I might edit a few more in but these are fun to do, I really hope I'm wrong on a few of these though.

What i want:
  • Loads of content in the base game. ideally 1000+ with FM4 level of variety, all older tracks return. Might even go a step above and say that they will look into adding things like FH4 Fortune Island hill climb and the race track from FH5 as Forza Lore. IMSA partnership finally comes to fruition and gets a full grid and well as full calendar with its own section in the game (like the NASCAR expansion in FM6). 50+ locations. Maybe a few off-road tracks in there and a couple of rally stages.
  • Full day and night cycle on all tracks with multiple weather options. Throw in a fully iced Spa in there.
  • Career mode should be similar to FM4 with a heavy emphasis on teaching driving/racing.
  • Monthly content (cars and events) with the occasional track thrown in.
  • All cars can be bought with credits in the autoshow, but some cars are locked like in FM7. Based on rarity/Manufacturer affinity.
  • Updated tuning and car upgrades. More depth to the PI system.
  • Online should replicate GT Sport in terms of Driver Rating, Sportsmanship rating and Penalties. Daily/Weekly races cycled for each car class/category. Must retain Hoppers and bring back custom public lobbies.
  • Good use of RT to feel like "next gen". Fix all the outdated and incorrect models. Decent sound balancing out of the box.
  • Tire compounds. Multiple Forza aero (pretty please). More alternate Manufacturer parts.
  • Narration for Forzavista for each car.
  • FM4/FM6 style of menu presentation (simple, snappy and pretty). Menu music similar to those games as well.
  • Visual flourishing like rubbering of the track, driving line visibly forming in the rain, rubber marbles, visual tire wear, dirt/dust on car and track. GT7 level of replays.
  • Higher FOV options, better wheel support (please make the steering animation at least 360 degrees).
  • Red/Yellow/Blue flags with reliable marshaling. Multiclass Racing. Tire and Fuel strategies.
  • Co-op career. Custom championships.
  • New Livery system for cars and race suits. Importable images and logos.

I'm sure i am missing a bit here and there. I will fully blame it on the fact that i am typing this at 4 AM.
However, i do not see most of this happening. Realistically i expect:

  • 600-ish cars. 40-ish tracks with a few returning old tracks (Fujimi Kaido, Camino Viejo, Tsukuba). Higher focus on race cars and active race tracks (IMSA).
  • Day-Night on most tracks with varying weather effects.
  • Career mode with cut scenes and narration. Big focus on racing for a team with sponsors. Big event list for every category.
  • Monthly cars and special events, like FH5 or FM7.
  • FM7 style of car collection and car dealer.
  • Updated tuning, PI calculations and NEXT GEN FORZA WING. Wheel spacers and other minor upgrade options introduced in FH4 and FH5. Revamped aero, tire and suspension systems.
  • A fleshed out FRR system with its own internal ratings. Daily/Monthly events occurring at fixed intervals and qualifying with free practice. Custom lobbies and hoppers. 24 to 30 cars in a race. Endurance racing gets some of the spotlight.
  • RT at 4K 60 as standard with a 120 fps performance mode without RT at a lower resolution on consoles. Audio system like FH5
  • Decent AI, ditching drivatars. A new corner rating system and maybe a teaching system like Gran Turismo's License Test.
  • Fleshed out Drag mode with a few actual drag cars.
  • Tire compounds and the visual flourishes already present in the reveal trailer.
  • Better wheel support with more options.
  • A new Livery system.

At this point it would be a step in the right direction to have rolling starts. The only thing I predict is much controversy.

Never could get the attraction of Fujumi Kaido. Not trying to hate on those who enjoy it, just don't care for it, or real roads I've driven like it. Two or three hairpins in a stretch is good but they get mighty tiresome. Most T10 fantasy tracks sort of feel more like art projects to show the game off than properly thought out circuits.

Fixed that for you.
Although that'd be cool, let's be honest. The new FM will definitely start with a small, but decent amount of cars, and that's okay if it's a mixer of roadcars and racecars with lots of variety to fit track racing. Also also, if we can customize our road cars to the point of turning them into track-spec vehicles (such as adding splitters, differsuers, tow hooks front and back, actual race wings with customization, etc), as well as having a more balanced PI system, I thinking starting off small is much needed for FM. Besides, we would have brand new cars to add on top of that. :D

Wow! Thank you for posting this! I want it to take up half the show to be honest haha! Although I imagine after it's reveal, more news will be shared on Forza Monthly. :D
Well, with Starfield pushed to 2023 they have to showcase something for later this year, no?
Absolutely! This year would definitely benefit T10 for sure.

Edit: Oh shoot @Jezza819 is right! Yeah maybe we should wait for T10 to say something instead. Probably some rando is trying to stir up unnecessary hype early.

That's less than a week away and IF it were true you would think Turn 10 would have had some sort of better announcement trailer maybe a month or so in advance.

Why would they? The showcase is when these things get revealed, not a month before. That's the whole appeal of the showcase stream.

No not a full reveal, just a teaser saying there was going to be a big announcement on that date.
Most games don't do that though, they'd rather it be a surprise on that date. We're all expecting it, but to finally get it is meant to be an exciting moment. The speculation of what will and will not appear at E3 (or whatever takes its place in its absence) is part of the fun for many people.

Using the Showcase to fully announce the game falls in line with their past titles, though. FH5 was announced during the MS/Bethesda Showcase last year, FH4 used E3 2018, & FM7 used E3 2017.

Already confirmed end of 2021

And tons of more nice details about whats coming:

Ya
Already knew that. That's why it's expected.

They did say hard, medium and soft, which I am guessing are branded like this:

However I find it weird that there was no mention of wets. Hopefully that doesn't mean that there's no wet races. I haven't seen any mention of dynamic weather anywhere as well tbf.

AFAIK ambient temperature was shown in fm4 but I don't know whether it affected any of the physics. But it is affected in the newer horizon games.

Engine and physics can already handle wet conditions so for me theres no question if rain will be in the new FM :)

While Rio has grown on me as I find it to be kind of exciting to drive, I agree that modern T10 fantasy tracks have just been excuses to showcase graphics. They are basically all noob trap tracks, and pretty much every race you do in public lobbies at one of them is an absolute mess. Even in organized leagues where the drivers are more serious they are often messy, but they aren't often run in those... although that might be why they are still messy.

FM1 fantasy tracks are actually pretty good though... Except Maple Valley, which ironically is the only one they brought back. I'm still angry that the garbage Bernese Alps track is still in the game, but Alpine Ring that was actually good has been totally forgotten about.
If it ends up being a GT Sport clone with good wheel feedback/support then that’s me happy.
You are one of the few people around here that could post that and likely not get attacked by the army of people who saw GT Sport as some sort of grand betrayal.

Go forth and use that power well.

Speaking as a race game and sim nerd since 1998 that also loves IRL racing and played all GT games back in the days: Imo GT Sport was GT Sport not an GT7 and what they brought with it to the series was awesome. If someone dislikes what they did or what GT Sport is then you know how much or what you can give on the opinion of these people :P

GT Sport may not have been the PS1-era title some series fans wanted, but for me it’s one of the most important racing games of the past 20 years.

There aren’t many games out there that show you that skilled, respectful play is joy worth pursuing, and give you the tools in-game to get that good.

Remember when F1 2020 had 50 or so official tutorial videos teaching people about tracks and racing theory? I lead that project and GT Sport was the reason for its existence.

I'm certainly not against the new FM taking ideas from GTS like online rankings, safety ratings and a better penalty system. What I am against is making it focus on just the online side and not also offline. Not only that, but I am not a competitive racer, which is why I wasn't a big fan of GTS to begin with.

I will laugh if we get nothing at all. All focus in on FH5 for now. What happened to taking user feedback into account, they announced it years ago and still nothing lol? They sent some crappy surveys about useless stuff, but nothing of substance since then.
