Drag Racing at Gemma Solar? What is this magic?!

Cars and tracks are the basic building blocks of what people want to do. If you giv people the option, they'll find a way to make it work. If you fail to work out any way for them to express their creativity... Goodbye, fanbase.

I don't think this Gemma Solar thing really is drag racing, but it is baffling that they haven't put one drag track into the game. Copy and past buildings and generic grandstands and the like and off you go. Less than a week's work I would think.

I could do a generic copy/paste drag track on BTB in a day, which kinda shows PD's commitment towards drag racing... Which is why I'm glad they don't do it - if they lack the motivation to spend one day for drag racing, then they obviously can't be bothered to do it properly, either.

Disclaimer: my one-day drag strip would be rubbish. Unless random bumps are your idea of excellence.

If the course maker is really expanded, we might be able to build drag racing courses.

Ha ha, yes, cut and paste, cut and paste.

Tell me how a two lane track works in a room full of 16 people.

All I am say is, It's not that simple.

If they made a 16 lane track - it could work.

Otherwise it would be a nightmare to administer a room full of eager racers.

Why would it? If the room was limited to 4 or however wide the track is, and only 4 entered, where is the problem? Obviously they would have to disallow people in rooms bigger than the drag strip from changing to a drag strip, that's all.

Hosts shouldn't really be switching between drag and circuit racing anyway. They're very different things and I know if I was in a room racing and the host changed to drag racing I'd quit the room.

Yeah, while I wish PD would actually add tracks like this in the trailers they post, I don't see an actual playable version of Gemma Solar happening.

@Samus , I have nearly 100 friends, so that is not an option.

@ITCC_Andrew I see what you are saying - but big rooms are so dynamic, people are constantly coming and going.

But back to my point, it is not a simple cut and paste job.

But a 16 lane track would work great.

Well whether it is a simple job or not, PD have had ample time since GT4 to get it done. Odd that they haven't.

I think my guys would love a couple of drag races to break up the circuit racing.

Now I'm rooting for a 16 lane track!

8 or 16 lanes would be the ideal solution obviously and really, how difficult would it be? Nowhere near as difficult as making a circuit for sure.

If I'm in lane 1, I might not be able to see lane 16.
Why do you need to see lane 16? Can't you use a look left/right button if you need it? Maybe the mini map for each user could display their own marker + the top 3 for reference?

Make everyone a ghost and two-lanes
Problem solved.
While that will technically work, I don't think it's the ideal solution.

Wow yall are really over thinking this Drag Strip.

All you need is:

A 2 lane track
A auto triggered Tree(2 cars stage and 3-5 seconds later the lights start the cycle)
The timing system from GT5
A runoff area(to stop)
A return lane
A area at the start line to stage ourselves/pit/tune.

We run our own lobbies, who needs a computer to do it? By that I mean a Bracket system. Just like we use in our comps.

Seriously guys, a 16-player tournament format is all that's needed. Round 1 (8 separate races happening simultaneously), followed by round 2 (4 separate races), down to the semi's, and then the final. The option to have staging would be cool- but most would likely not appreciate waiting for their turn, even though this would be really cool to watch from a grandstand camera pov.

And really, Charlottes 4-lane strip would speed things up a bit while adding maximum excitement.

Also the interview where Kaz was asked about drag racing, he replied with some nonsense that included not understanding drag racing..

:dunce:

Do you think that some manufacturers like Ferrari are against their cars appearing in a drag event and thus PD can't implement it?
