I thought 60fps was more of an umm...FPS thing. Even they can slow down when the action gets hectic. For me, I'm okay with whatever GT5 had.

Most games are supposed to run at a specific frame rate. You say you're fine with GT5s frame rate when it doesn't have one.

Oh no, not at all. Fighting Comunity like to have a locked frame rate too. Racing games and rhythm action games are another category.

A locked 30 will do better than an erratic 60 in drive clubs case I suppose.

30fps is fine.

Coupled with a 60hz LCD, that will be friggin amazing!!! NOT.

The GT6 Silverstone video in 60fps was vastly better looking than the plain old 30fps. It is time to raise the bar and keep it up.

How can a game not have a frame rate? I'm fairly sure Kazunori san said something about there will be drops under certain circumstances such as rain with a full grid on GT5. Or am I missing your point :dopey:

The point is that GT5 doesn't have a fixed frame rate and in certain circumstances it drops a lot.

Ahh, okay - I must have a lucky system then as I don't think I noticed any such issues. Mind you, as a group we only played online with weather a few times. I'm guessing arcade or practise run in SP doesn't really affect it that much.

That's borderline stupid in a PS4. There's all the power needed to keep 60 fps even in caotic situations. Slow down in a PS4 = FAIL.

Yes, because the PS4 is the most powerful gaming system known to man. Not. If you think everything is going to be running perfectly on the next gen you're going to be in for a surprise.

It's all about what the developers thinks it is a priority. If they care only about marketing, they'll surely boast the ultimate uber duber insane/useless details on the internet to make silly 12 years old kids drolling but when the game comes out people find the stuttering surprise. No thank you.

There's enough hardware to keep 60 fps on lock all the time, if all the developers will opt for 30 we'll see current gen issues all over again, only with more details. 👎

Have you ever played Race 07 on PC? That game gets 120 to 200fps and a lot of dev love, yet the game seems to be relatively unheard of. Point is, there will always be things that people don't like about those dev decisions.

What looks crap is very subjective. To me it looks crap when the game stutter. Trying to deny the importance of a good frame rate because in Race 07 you can get high fps but the game sucks is not fair. You should also mention it was made seven years ago as the name suggest.

Wipeout HD and Formula 1 HD are great examples of what the best detail/frame rate compromise should be, given the old PS3 hardware.
The most important part of any WipEout title is the smoothness of the experience. WipEout HD delivers in spades, running at a blistering 60 frames-per-second at any resolution, including 1080p. Playing like a half-roller-coaster-slash-half-combat racer, you're able to weave in and out of turns like a bobsled with a rocket affixed to its back. The controls are tied directly to the framerate and are immensely responsive. It's the perfect combination of dead-on controls and complex raceways.

Driveclub Dev: PS4 has a lot of CPU power, no need to worry about GPU compute for now.

Evolution Studios Technical Director Scott Kirkland
You already have a lot of CPU power at your disposal. I think with many of the first generation PS4 titles, developers probably won’t need to worry about it – they’ll be able to get a lot out of parallelism across the CPU cores – but for teams who are a bit more ambitious, who want to do interesting things, it’s just waiting there. We’re doing some of that in DriveClub and I’m sure other guys will go further – and the platform guys will expose more of that functionality through the lifespan of the machine, unlocking more potential.

Yeah, further stuttering for everyone.

*sigh*

DriveClub was the game I was looking forward the most to see in the press conference (since we didnt get proper footage from E3) and Sony decides showing 100's of pointless indie games was worth more the time. They even shown the 'banner' for it after that awesome inFAMOUS: SS trailer, just to start talking about Killzone SF.

Well.. at least Gumpert Apollo is confirmed. Yay...

Sony are known for their support of independant developers and to be truthful, there have been some really fine games supported this way in the past. They are games too, and just as important in the long run.

The conference last more than one press event, so bide your time...

Was it made any more clear exactly what content the Ps+edition will lack from the full game?

It was mentioned that you get full access to events and features of the full game, you just get less cars to choose from and would have to pay real money to use them. Everything else is full game.

Yeah.. I do kinda have mix feelings about this press conference. But I do think they managed their time, at least, not as good as they did on E3. I mean, there's only TGS now and how much do we know about DriveClub - which is a launch title? What about the newly announced R&C? Some gameplay from the Order? Some teases about ND or SMS games? I doubt they will do such things on TGS..

They spent half the conference talking about indie games, that will eventually be launch on X1 and mostly would already be on PC. It's cool that they are showing support to them and giving them some "free" marketing, but a balance must be achieved. I wouldnt go as far as saying it was boring, but it was not, by some fair margin, as good as their previous conferences.

OT: Alfa Romeo 4C and A45 AMG confirmed? \o/

Sony said this game is free to play for PS4+ subscribers so if it's free then it's worth checking it but with all this fuss with DLC's well i don't know.

It's just doesn't look that great on pictures, and game plays. Looks like game that could be run on PS3.

Where do you see trees, other environment features and road textures this good in GT5/6?
