With the addition of bikes, Driveclub is now officially the Project Gotham spiritual successor I always wanted đź‘Ť

Still need to allow cars and bikes in the same races to quite make it there. But that might be a nightmare to implement. Even if the tech is there to allow it, balancing would probably be very difficult or impossible (at least in tours and multiplayer).
I haven't actually paid any attention yet to see how the bikes fare in terms of lap times compared to the super and hyper class cars.

I could definitely see Evo implementing that down the line...I mean as long as they create proper, fair matchups (I'm assuming they'll slot the bikes up against track-based cars like the Atom V8 along with a few hypercars), there's not much stopping them. And if they're worried about punters, I'm sure they could devise some sort of penalty.

Maybe a disqualification? :P

Any chance of a new location in the future? :3

Will I just tested out the bikes, and I must say they are a hand full haha. It takes some getting used to when riding them if you're a first timer like myself. And I tell ya. Once I finish with DC Bikes, I may use them once and awhile. Basically like this. If get tired of driving cars, I'll ride bikes. And if I get tired of riding bikes, I'll drive cars. lol.

Now. Who here hopes for some ATV expension? I mean, they were in Motorstorm *wink wink*?

Okay I'll stop.

Edit: Oh. And I thank those who helped me solve the issue of getting DC Bikes. Cheers.

Bikes? In a car racing game? Blasphemy! No wonder i sold it :D

It plays NOTHING like PGR so please lets not go there............AGAIN!

While I'm actually struggling to remember what PGR3 and 4 played like, it was the comparison my mind leaped to when I started playing DriveClub, even before I had come across other people saying the same. I suspect it was the handling feel - and perhaps parts of the visual style (including full cockpit view for a "semi-sim") - that prompted me to make that connection.

What makes you feel that the latest PGR games were so different (aside from primarily track selection and mixing cars and bikes) from DriveClub that they played NOTHING like each other?

Has anyone done the Eternal Flame bike tour event on Sinclair Pass? I know it's very late here and I'm rather bleary eyed by now, but holy crap, it was like that event is completely uncalibrated in terms of difficulty.
I'm not used to getting three stars on all tour events - cars or bikes - but this one was a zero stars event for me. Usually so far on bikes I have managed place 1 to 3 in tour races and two, occasionally three, stars in time trials.

Goals:
Finish 1st (I finished 12th - all AI on the same bike as me - with no crashes and around 7 seconds behind no. 11)
Finish a clean lap in 1.32 (clean laps are still a lot more difficult for me on bikes than in cars, but I did one. In 1.36)
Beat three face-offs (botched the first clean line face-off, managed one other plus one average speed face off. Too slow for the two speed checks)

I'll try again tomorrow. At least the face-off goal should be achievable.

I never bought a Bike game because they often look like last gen games and the steering is also crap. But Driveclub has stunning visuals and sound, so I decided to give DC Bikes a try...

Holy ****, this is awesome! The handling of the bikes is pretty easy (to learn), they are insanely fast and totally fun to drive. Finished all Bike Events with all stars and had some races online. Great Day! : D

I feel really bummed-out that the big thing is bikes. This has been very anticlimactic for me as my interest in bikes peaks at zilch. For you bike fans it is fantastic and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did DRIVECLUB.

I just hope DC receives it's own additional DLC too.

Same here, just not interested at all, it's good news for all you bike fans and I'm glad you're all enjoying it....is there anyway of undoing the download as it's taken 12g of space that I have no intention of ever using ? !!!!

Looks like this has certainly caught everyone by surprise, bikes was probably the last thing people were expecting. It's pretty cool if you think about it though, bikes and cars do go hand-in-hand with petrol heads and motorsports fans in general so should appeal to most players. It's certainly something fresh and gives the whole game a completely new side to it. The bikes do look stunning and the handling looks very fun as well. Hopefully when I get my PS4 the DLC price will be a bit cheaper as it's a bit steep for now.

I'm really liking the bike expansion so far, although I found it to be far, far too arcadey for my taste. Still a fantastic addition though. Can't wait to get home from work and play some more.

Just missing those city tracks.

12GB is the cumulative total of all DRIVECLUB updates to date. I checked when v1.23 started downloading and it started from 10.4GB so it is about 1.7GB.

@Rushy33 @DRIVECLUB Great addition for bike lovers but as a car enthusiast I feel a bit left out in the cold. Any news on some 4wheelers?

Took the KTM round the asagiri highlands track v1 this morning, and I got a 1'30 (still learning how they drive and could probably get lower than a 1'28), and the fastest time on the track is a 1'24 in the Yamaha YZF R1.

Those times slot inbetween the super and hyper car categories, so I don't think it would be possible to have a balanced bike and car race unfortunately :(

Anyone tried the bikes with a wheel? Does it work? How does it feel?
I did. Not a good idea. It does work, but there is zero force feedback and you need to (re-)assign a second button for braking (front and rear brakes). I tried it with the controller and aside from forgetting to use the rear brake all the time, I got used to it pretty quickly. For the moment, I like driving cars more.

I came straight here when I did the obligatory check of the update history and saw the whole Driveclub Bikes thing.

I haven't been playing my PS4 much lately, been pretty busy and tired at night, and when I do make an effort to play, it's always Pcars with my wheel (no Fanatec support on DC:( ). So anyway, I was watching something on my hdd while having tea, and when I exited from the media player I saw that a DC update had downloaded and installed. I checked the history, as I always do with DC, because it has had so many kick ass updates, and BAM! Bikes, right in the face!

I'l have to wait a bit to buy the pack, as my car has taken up my immediate funds (needed new leads and added an oil catch tank to catch the extra blow-by I've been getting since I upped the boost), but I'm very pleasantly surprised by this sudden expansion. They kept that very quiet!

I have neglected DC somewhat since I got my wheel set up and went back to Pcars, but I think this bikes expansion will bring me back for a while :)

Evolution is going from strength to strength with this title, I can't wait to see what their next project is!

EVO are showing something Driveclub related behind closed doors. Interesting ;)

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2...on-playstation-vr-and-its-mightily-impressive

"Evolution has shown off DriveClub working on Sony's PlayStation VR for the first time, with a demo debuting behind closed doors at Paris Games Week.

The prototype runs at 60fps and features a BAC Mono running a circuit race around one of the base game's India tracks. Evolution's Paul Rustchynsky explained that some optimisation has been made to get DriveClub running at 60fps - in contrast to the 30fps the base game runs at - with the car count being reduced from 12 to eight competitors, and with some trackside detail and the nuances of the weather and cloud system being dialled back. The rear-view mirrors were also disabled, though that's something that Evolution would like to address before any final release.
..."

... Triple post :)

Oculus Rift feedback is that 60fps is not really enough to combat nausea in VR, it works best with very low latency 90+ fps. I am wondering just what the experiences are from 60fps testing....
