Have fun @Zonda5 :)

Loading of pages:

Since the PNG files are mainly used for posting in here I have noticed that many picture pages take ages to load. I know this is due to the increase in filesize and quality of the picture but it is becomming more and more frustrating to say at least if one has just a normal DSL connection.

If I open the bikes and car general photothread it becomes a long and annoying wait and often pictures pop in very late or won't load at all. The like button doesn't respond or it responds very "late" due to slow and long loading process.

Does anyone experience the same issue and ideas how to improve?

We used to have a way where the server would lower the quality and size of the pictures here on gtplanet, but I think it's gone now.

Maybe we can stick to a 5 picture per post limit (I implemented this in the realistic photo thread).

But Yeah since I have even worse internet speed it's inconvenient for me too.

It's slow for me on occasions, but with a reasonable speed connection, I can see that sometimes it's far slower than other times of day - so it's probably more down to 'the internet' being clogged by so many people with the need to share the meaningful info and images of what they are about to eat, than anything else. Unfortunately there's no cure for that except the one shown in the film Gravity.

GTP's servers still bring the image size down to a manageable level and whilst a limit of images might seem beneficial, I don't think that the DC image threads need yet another handicap - I mean, I don't hear of any problems from the GT forums and those are also .PNG files, though perhaps not so massive as those from DC.

I'm really not sure what to suggest - personally, I'm loathe for a five image limit as sites like imgur can process around eighteen images at a time, and can open those images on demand without issue. Perhaps GTP's software isn't the most modern, or capable for this level of image processing - I don't know. I do feel though that further limits won't really help, especially as all image threads across the whole site would need to follow the same strictures...and that didn't particularly work last time.

I'm testing out the private lobbies today for the championship, and will be online the next 4-5 hours or so. Anyone wishing to join me in testing, feel free to send me a friend request on PSN.

I might join within an hour, I've a slow internet connection but usually get on fine, so would like to test as well.

So just checking out the settings available. As it turns out, you can't make a race longer than 12 laps, which is idiotic, and you can't have time trials on P2P tracks, which is also idiotic. Waited more than a year for lobbies that don't even allow you to use all tracks for the two modes...

On the plus side, you can race any cars from any class on the track at the same time, meaning you can potentially have multi class racing. However, the end race timer of only 1 minute, is hardly ideal considering the extra time needed for the slower class.

There's also no option to have races that go on time rather than lap count, which would have been the ideal way to do multi class racing.

Rain/dry conditions can be dynamic, but the clouds can't...

How did they spend more than a year on something that is this half assed?

Forgive me but I don't understand why there would need to be a limit on the length of a race in the first place! The assets are loaded prior to the race and weather effects top out after a certain time as you can try out yourself. Not complaining as such but just find it weird they would decide to limit it to 12 laps.

Perhaps, its more to do with network traffic.

Dates and times for my upcoming online championship is up, so for anyone interested in some proper clean racing, please head over to this thread. The dates and times aren't completely set in stone yet, so feel free to suggest times that are more doable for you.

Furthermore, I am going to start up an additional 2 championships called VS Racing Sport Series and VS Racing Performance Series, respectively. The threads with the race details should be online friday afternoon, and as their names suggest, they will feature cars from the Sport and Performance classes. The thread featuring the Mini has been renamed to the more appropriate VS Racing Hot Hatch Series, and the underlying idea is to have a steady flow of races featuring the different classes available for you fine people. If it catches on, and enough people are interested, I will eventually open up one for the Hyper cars and bikes as well.

Sorry for using this thread as advertisement :embarrassed::guilty:

So i was watching a taco bell ad on tv when out of nowhere this familiar face showed up during it. ;)

It takes getting used to when returning to the cars after the "responsive and lively" bikes :boggled:

Did a hotlap with a Viper and I was under the impression it handled like a tank  After five minutes it became normal again :embarrassed: but man did I struggle....:scared:

I was the same! On the whole I do prefer the cars however.

GIVE US MORE EVO. :D

Why are the cars so unbalanced within the same classes? Did a private race yesterday with supers, cars chosen were Ariel atom, aventador, McLaren 570s, and the gallardo. Every single area of the track the Ariel and the aventador were quicker, and by the end of the first straight they were off on their own leaving me in the McLaren and the gallardo behind.

Once we had split, both pairs had really close racing and they finished within a second of each other, but the gap between the front two and last two drivers was over 10 seconds. We had been racing closely all evening so it wasn't a matter of skill, it was completely down to the cars we chose.

You can see the same kind of gap between the other classes, the bikes for instance have a huge difference in lap times between the fastest and slowest ones.

It would be nice if evo put in some kind of option in to separate the classes a bit so that we know which cars are competitive with others. Maybe even split the cars up into a few more classes, especially in the performance, super, and Hyper car categories.

The two EBR bikes coming Nov 17th are free, they said. New cars will probably cost you, at least if there's more than one or two.

Pay per car you mean, that would make sense, I doubt they're thinking about another season pass.

Apparently, I heard that they borrowed the PP system from PD.

;)

I'm presuming we'll get one or two packs of maybe five cars. Another season pass seems too tall an order - and what cars would they include that are up to the standards of the last packs? Are there that many super- and hypercars of the last years left?

Unless Evo wants to go further back in time. That is something that irks me a little bit - the Diablo and F40 are great, but they stand out because they are obviously much older than the other cars.

We're very interested in Driveclub and have been waiting for the private lobbies feature, but we want AI included. From an earlier post we understand that the private lobbies do not include AI at this time. Is this true?

Correct.

There are so many supercars there are bound to be big differences in performance. Ideally the supercars should probably be split into two groups otherwise you need to know them and try to make fair match ups. I've driven all the supercars extensively on one course and over a 50 second lap the difference between fastest and slowest is about 4 seconds! You could have had an even bigger mismatch against say the RS01 or the quicker Caterham!!

How does one get the trophy for challenges sent (one of two remaining for me), does someone need to take part in my challenge and do a slower time? if so anyone up to lose a challenge

That's right, it has to be completed by at least one other person - send me five and I'll gallantly take a fall at the last hurdle. Make the expiry time for around 18:00 GMT tomorrow so that I have the time to do them. You also might want to be online when they expire as well - the bug has been fixed, but still some people have mentioned having a problem.

Who's this 'we', or are you royalty? ;)

Very true chaps..How about you starting the lobby as host and ticking the option of host car only to race in a certain view i.e cockpit. @Maxrevv did that in the Corvettes and it was much more fun than being behind etc Then all 4 of you will be in the same car/view and that would be a close race..otherwise you will always have cars that out accelerate on straights and faster in corners etc when you come to super/hyper/open. No other way round it unless as you say they tighten the groups into sub groups of power/torque/top speed.

Owe you big time, thanks buddy  will send them when I get back from Uni in a bit.

So, what are the private lobbies like in terms of options & functionality compared to GT6's?

Lets see if I can remember all of em.

You have the choice of cars, tracks, time, weather, the usual.
As a host, you can also choose what class of cars you can use, or make it a free choice. You can also choose the number of laps, amount of time to choose car and to end the race, and the severity of penalties and collisions.
