After what was a hectic weekend, I was finally able to sit down and play the updated game properly (yeah I know, plans don't always work out.
)
Anyway, the urban tracks are very pretty, especially in the sunshine during a rain spell. It seems like they were going for a Edinburgh-Dunfermline hybrid cityscape, and if Evo continue to combine styles with the future locations, I'll be really excited to see what they do. They could've come up with a more original name for them though, that's literally the only thing about it that irks me.
The Hardcore handling model is refreshingly challenging, but I feel that there are a few shortcomings; Since there is less speed being carried into a corner, the cars don't get thrown around so much as with the regular handling model, resulting in a situation where you have to focus more on your own line through the corner than to focus on a potential overtake.
This is where Evo should've implemented Fame rewards for cornering. Thirdly, because I feel that it still needs work, I don't want to play with the Hardcore model all the time. Evo should've added an icon on the HUD to show that Hardcore handling is enabled, so that if I decide to disable it, I can do so for the next race, or get reminded to disable it before I change games or boot down my PS4.
Also, the feature of having the photo-mode filter enabled during races is a nice touch. I absolutely adore racing at night with the Night-Vision filter on, I can't be the only one who does.
All in all, for 2GB of my data, and none of my money, this is another solid update from Evolution Studios, and it didn't take in excess of 5GB to change typos, Slightly Mad should learn from the best how to compress.
