The penalties actually reminds me of GT5 and GT6's penalties. Those games have the most frustrating penalties ever. It works very similar to AC's penalties where if you run wide or touch a piece of glass, you would get a 5 second or 10 if you put it on strong. Something like that would cost you the race big time.

I have a question about the points I'm getting in hardcore mode. I was playing some instant races outside of the main career. I used beefier cars like the F40 and F50 to bump up my Ferrari affinity (or whatever it's called in DC) to unlock the LaFerrari. Each race I averaged about 25,000-30,000 points before crossing the finish line. I never got this many points before. Is this due to the double points weekend going on, or is it actually from normal racing feats like drifting? I noticed I was getting tons of drift points in those cars.

Mostly it's down to the double points weekends. I've utilised them a lot to get cars like the LaFerrari, AMG S65 and R.S 01.

@Jawehawk

Not to be mean or something, but each time I see your comments it's for a bad purpose.

A few pages back, you were arguing that the Audi RS6 was a ****** piece of engineering.
Now you don't like the Hardcore mode because it has though penalties.
Also, Twitter is **** because 140 char is not enough to complain...

Man, go watch cat videos or drink a glass of hot milk with cookies I don't know, but you need to relax. :banghead:

Keeping in mind that IRL hitting a wall means -> END OF THE RACE, I think a 2 seconds penalty per wall hitted is quite fair for a "HARDCORE MODE". ;)

This fact easily eludes some people, but a forum will often consist of conflicting opinions. If you want to challenge my opinions, you are very free to do so. But don't ever think you have the right to belittle someone by saying that they're always negative.

I don't recall calling the RS6 bad engineering. Rather I called it pointless, as a result of excessive and unnecessary power for a car in its class. I specifically said that Twitter was awful as a means of two way communication, and not that it was awful in itself. And while I'm extremely critical of what I consider to be awful game design, aside from the penalty system, I've had nothing but praise for the mode in general.

Perhaps seeing as you've quite literally ignored my "positive" posts, be it on purpose or by random chance, it is you who needs to step back, and not look just for the negative in people?

In conclusion. I'm aware that I'm vocal about things I dislike. And it's not something I intend to change. Why? Because unlike many people, I supply actual arguments for why I feel a certain way. Besides, discussion keeps a forum alive and diverse.

I really like new hardcore mode, but it needs more integration as stated above. Now anywhere I go except for single events I cannot really use the mode. All challenges are set with assists on mode, all events are made for assists on mode, and everyone is using assists on mode in MP.
Also I think some additional points for driving in HC mode will be great. A multiplier or something like this.

As far as the tour events go, I'd probably prefer they don't make them all suited to hardcore mode, as that'd just end up making them ridiculously easy when not in hardcore mode. However, it'd be cool if they added specific hardcore tour events, or even a separate hardcore tour, where the events are made specifically for hardcore mode, and you have hardcore mode forced on when playing that tour.

They have added silver stars for the tours, they can also add platinum stars for hardcore only :)
But I don't mind only new tours having this hardcore mode feature. Just want to have some challenge with the new mode.

On a different subject now.
I think it is time for Evo to add some new modes to the game. There are so many fun modes to add. Drift trains (at least for private lobbies), knockout mode (the last driver is kicked out every lap), drift circle (you have to earn a certain amount of drift points in one lap).
Hope they will hear us out.

I need the X10 points bonus week end to unlock gumpper and 599XX :D:lol:

Haha, I've had a week off work.
Bought a PS4 on Sunday, downloaded DC Sunday night and unlocked the 599XX last night (well whatever the level 50 car is!)

I've hardly touched any of the tours yet, and it doesn't feel like I've done any GT5 like grinding!
I have got caught up in drifting, sprints and time trails though. Initially setting a few Ferrari based challenges to get the LaFerrari.

I just finished a brief hot lapping session in the One:1 on Sinclair Pass, which has easily become one of my favorite tracks in the game. It's a perfect combination of high speed sections, hard braking zones, sweeping turns, and tight chicanes requiring surgical precision. Despite the One:1 being an absolute brute, it has a fair share elegant moments. The ease of powersliding through a turn and lining up for the next can only be described as pure bliss. Plus, there's something so addicting about seeing the green sector times appearing in front of you. It's beckoning you to go faster.

Just one more lap.

Go flat-out right here!

Just one more lap.

Hard on the brakes, turn, hit the gas now!

Just one more lap.

Just one more lap...

The best time I have right now is 1:37.137 on hardcore mode. I think there's some room for improvement. ;)

Yeah, haha. The One:1 is a monster that you have to wrestle around the track, but I was pleasantly surprised to see how consistent I was.

It's most definitely the most overpowered car in the game. It's not easy to get the hang of it but if you do so then you'd be forgiven if you thought the others were just too damn slow.

On normal handling mode in singleplayer instant races, it's typically the lead car and I can never keep up with them, no matter how hard I try.

And then I realize sarcasm doesn't translate through text. I really need to remember that.

BTW, the Skyline felt really underpowered compared to the rest of the Performance class cars but takes corners much faster. Really great addition to an already great game.

After what was a hectic weekend, I was finally able to sit down and play the updated game properly (yeah I know, plans don't always work out.)

Anyway, the urban tracks are very pretty, especially in the sunshine during a rain spell. It seems like they were going for a Edinburgh-Dunfermline hybrid cityscape, and if Evo continue to combine styles with the future locations, I'll be really excited to see what they do. They could've come up with a more original name for them though, that's literally the only thing about it that irks me.

The Hardcore handling model is refreshingly challenging, but I feel that there are a few shortcomings; Since there is less speed being carried into a corner, the cars don't get thrown around so much as with the regular handling model, resulting in a situation where you have to focus more on your own line through the corner than to focus on a potential overtake.
This is where Evo should've implemented Fame rewards for cornering. Thirdly, because I feel that it still needs work, I don't want to play with the Hardcore model all the time. Evo should've added an icon on the HUD to show that Hardcore handling is enabled, so that if I decide to disable it, I can do so for the next race, or get reminded to disable it before I change games or boot down my PS4.

Also, the feature of having the photo-mode filter enabled during races is a nice touch. I absolutely adore racing at night with the Night-Vision filter on, I can't be the only one who does.
All in all, for 2GB of my data, and none of my money, this is another solid update from Evolution Studios, and it didn't take in excess of 5GB to change typos, Slightly Mad should learn from the best how to compress.

Just bought this with the season pass. 33NZD. I have done the first 6-7 Races. The games seems pretty solid. cant wait to get further and unlock some rides with a bit more power. Anyone have any quick tips for a new entrant to DC.

Given its output I don't think it's supposed to be in that class. It's racing cars with twice the horsepower, and with roughly the same weight. I suspect it's simply a mistake.

there are some multiplayer events here on GTP if you want
start with the normal mode don't go hardcore at the beginning
the flags indicate the severity of the corners (green easy, red hard)
Japan's Nakasendo is enjoyable for good handling cars
have fun and don't forget photomode

If they added platinum stars, I'd be livid. I've 100 percented the base game and a couple DLCs, and as much as I love Driveclub it'd be downright cruel to make good players feel like they have to complete the entire game over again.

They need to just leave hardcore mode be, and not enforce it with specific events and the like. Leaderboards and lobbies are fine, but anything beyond that would bother me. I really don't want to see the DC community turn into a hyper-serious sim racing community. We have enough of those in the world.

They'd have to alter the time based objectives in the hardcore version for the platinum stars, as the normal time based challenges in the tours are geared for normal mode, and a lot would be impossible with hardcore mode on. Other than that, I think that's a great idea.

Just enjoy the tours, you'll get to drive a great variety of cars on some really cool tracks, in all kinds of weather and situations, and before you know it, you'll have a lot of cars unlocked.

Also, join a club. Some cars (not many) unlock at club levels rather than player levels. I got to level 50 before I made my club though, so it's not mandatory to enjoy the game. The various tours will keep you more than entertained for a while.

Welcome to the club :)

Congrats! Im only at Level 35 and Elite 0 so still a very long way to go
Once the events run dry, the fun stops. :P

I kid, but it does start to become really difficult to get XP if you dont do community challenges.

How do I beat the Venom Hot Lap? I got a 1:16.141 and I can't go any faster. All of my lap times after that were slower. It feels impossible to do better than that.
