This looks soooo good. Too bad PS VR + proper wheel would cost over 800$. Maybe I will get into VR in future with second geneartion of ps vr/ps5.

@Pearl Jam I think there are quite a few old farts that still play DC in here:ill: ;) I agree I would look strange and not see or hear any body- maybe this is a good thing! I have the T300 wheel that I can drag out and will for GTS but still not sure on VR myself either. It looks amazing, maybe more and more games will go to VR, I just don't know how it will take off. I do agree they need to charge for the game and extra work and as said a discount for those who own the original would be a nice gesture for this version. I never put a pre-order for VR in although they are showcasing it at the NEC soon I believe.

I would only consider VR for racing games with a wheel setup, as then the immersion should be amazing. I tried playing Project Cars on pc with some mods making my phone + google cardboard to be seen as oculus. It was really amazing! even with a controller.

I'm finding I am not using the wheel for quick plays of games now the novelty has worn off and I have mine folded away most the time (lack of space) ..It is great when I go on there! but it is mainly on PCars and GT6- I found DC not the best on the wheel (no ffb and too many spin outs) and I have got in a bad habit of using the DS4 again on most games as I like to take photos as well I find this has it all (without the immersion) so I can see this gathering dust for me after 6 months.. maybe??

I've never had a wheel set-up, just always used my trusty old DS4 and X for accelerating and Square for braking, suits me just fine so as much as I'd love to try the VR, I guess a wheel is essential and it's not something I'm prepared to shell out for..unless I can get the Mrs into driving games ( no 🤬 chance) :banghead: but I'm hoping surely Rushy must realise that there will be quite a few DC diehards that would love to play the new tracks too..

If my post came across as me demonizing any and all re-releases of any kind, that wasn't my intent. In many instances, re-releases can be a great thing... the HD collections on PS3 where you get several enhanced (and in some cases, difficult/expensive to find) PS2 games for the price of one, Perfect Dark XBLA, etc.

I just don't think Driveclub VR is one of them. It just sounds like Driveclub with a VR patch (yes, yes... I know it's not as easy as snapping your fingers... most patches or DLC isn't) and a handful of exclusive content added to sweeten the deal, which really could've just been DLC for the original release.

A price reduction would be good, but all I've heard is a potential price reduction for Season Pass holders, nothing for people who just own the plain retail disc version and nothing extra.
True, that is exactly what it is and the fact that it has VR support does mean that it's a different version. Other than the rarer titles you mentioned, I still don't see what is being done with DCVR as any different from those - certainly the game isn't a rarity but I still maintain that work was done post launch to make it happen, therefore that work will need to be paid for and I don't have a problem with that.

Yes, the price reduction was for season holders - forgot to mention that bit, sorry

Regarding how DCVR is any different from any of the titles I mentioned, the titles were from a previous generation (or two). This, however, is more like re-releasing a GOTY edition of the game, except there's content exclusive to this GOTY edition which forces people who have the original version to upgrade for $60 instead of just buying DLC. Imagine if owners of The Witcher 3 had to completely re-buy the game at full price just to get the Blood & Wine expansion.

And regarding the fact that post launch work was done and they could reasonably expect compensation, yes I covered that... this VR mode could be made available as DLC for the original game instead of (or in additon to) the standalone re-release, but instead they're being greedy and screwing people who own the original release of the game... unless you're a Season Pass holder and you get the VR version at a discount. Though I'd argue they're getting screwed as well... as a Season Pass holder, shouldn't they be getting all future Driveclub content for free?

Not really, the season pass was always a fixed term thing and that was made quite clear from before the launch.

As for the difference between DC's platform and DCVR's - I still don't see it as being strictly the same generation. It has additional peripherals and a better operational capacity - above all else, it does things that the current PS4 cannot and whilst the difference isn't massive, I see it like I said as more of an off-shoot. Bottom line though is, you can't play the one disc on the other system, which makes it a different console as far as I'm concerned.

I also stick by my first comment - I don't expect to get the US version of The Returned for free because I have both original French versions.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. Games aren't static media like movies, books, etc. They can be updated with new content, even if it's for a price.

This is not a new console, and I don't see it as an entirely new platform. I highly doubt, for instance, that GT Sport will have VR and non-VR releases. It's more like PS Move, where there might be some experiences that are exclusive to it, but a single game can support both regular controllers and PS Move. And old games such as Heavy Rain could be updated to support the new PS Move controller.

And people have a choice if they decide to go for the latest version or not - and books, as well as CDs and DVDs do get additional material updated releases; my brother-in-law has quite a few versions of Blade Runner - but you're right, we'd best agree to differ there.

PS Move's addition to certain games was a specialist addition done by one outside developer, if I recall the talk at the time correctly - it wasn't always possible to tune-up a game to include it and so some were left by the wayside in that respect when it came to updating via remaster.

As for GT Sport we'll have to see if a VR version gets released alongside the regular - PD have always done things their way, so no surprise there either way - plus, it's a brand new game not yet out, so I'm not really sure why the two are being used in comparison.

Well that's pretty nice. Though one has to wonder if he left out the "for Season Pass holders" bit due to Twitter's character limit. :P

I wouldn't purchase VR unless I had the money for it and was seriously dedicated to competitive online racing. When it comes to most games, I'm a casual, so a DS4 and decent headphones are all I'll ever need.

By the way, how will Evo know that we own copies of the game already so we can have discounts? They're a good team and I'd hate for unfavorable people to take advantage of Evo's kindness.

Can someone tell me how they made the rain look so good in this game, please? I play other racing games on PS4 but nothing else comes remotely close.

Anyone else wish the AI drivers had varied liveries and more names? I always encounter cars with a pseudo-Gulf livery and another in green and yellow. One name that sticks out is Alfie Sanders, since he seems to be in every race.

The turquoise and red liveried one is always there at crucial moments too. I think that the best races are the ones that have Evolution Team members driving them, so the names are different and it may be just my imagination, but their style is different too.

EDIT: you can select factory colours for the AI from the race menu, if it gets too much.

I enjoyed chasing Rushy's car in a few events, but in one of the Wombat races, you can see the devs clearly had a hard time controlling them, too. As for factory colors, they're quite limited.

Sounds very encouraging.

Eurogamer: "On the face of it, a racing game on PlayStation VR shouldn't stand a chance against a high-powered PC coupled with Oculus Rift or HTC Vive, but after playing DriveClub VR at Gamescom this week, our viewpoint has shifted. Simply put - this is the most immersive racing game we've played in VR to date. From Assetto Corsa to Dirt Rally all the way to Project Cars, it's clear that the gorgeous visual design of the original DriveClub allows the game to stand above its more technically demanding peers. It's a classic case of software design triumphing over hardware limitations."

Hi boys, I wrote you from Italy, i love this game and i'm very happy for good news from EVO for news tracks. I must buy the First season pass in these days. Bye

I hope find you online in driveclub.
I don't think so - no official confirmation yet but the game director said they will be free. So ot looks like only the VR version will cost money.

EDIT: the season pass though will give you quite a few new cars and is cheap enough.
