Here is a quote from Rushy(Evolution Studios)
Great to see all the excitement and thanks for all the questions, but just be aware that I can't really answer much more right now. Hopefully in the not too distant future more details can be discussed

Hope that's good news for the new tracks getting release for the normal driveclub as dlc

From Rushy's words, something's telling me that it's not just Driveclub VR and new tracks coming out...

Though I could be severely wrong.

What a coincidence, I popped in the game today and had a ball with the Skyline.

Taken from a league challenge i'm doing.

I bring you The Midnight Run

@Jawehawk I'm enjoying myself lately with DC again, been trying to unlock more bikes. Online is all but dead though.

I really hope the ip doesn't die, too good to leave it like that.

It'll probably pick back up again when DCVR surfaces and hopefully we get the new tracks too. There are a fair few new games vying for people's attention now as well, don't forget that :)

Never got into the online scene, as I can't be bothered playing Destruction Derby with random people. The time trial challenge community is still alive and well.

If the online wasn't a complete write off DC would always be my go to driving game. Currently holding out for F1 and AC right now unfortunately :(

@Brend Your post shows great character :P

I'm in the same boat, but after Dirt Rally's lack of content and post launch support, I won't get AC at full price.

I've forgotten how incredible GTA was, loving the online stunt races, crazy design doesn't even come close to describing them so that's kinda got my attention lately, also trying No Mans Sky but gotta say I'm rather underwhelmed by it so far !

 Gloves!! :D I made a comment on the twitter about them..maybe they have a few new changes..I have a feeling they will only be available on VR though..We will see...

From Playstation blog.
  • Game modes: Online virtual reality multiplayer race modes and an action-packed single player career are joined by drifting and time trial challenges.
  • Tracks: New and classic Driveclub tracks are brought to life through the power of PlayStation VR, including five all-new Urban locations.
  • A closer look: More than 80 cars are recreated with immaculate detail for players to explore up close with Inspection Mode.
  • Cruise control: A little time to kick back, open the throttle or just coast and explore any track, in any country at your leisure in Cruise Mode.
  • Virtual passenger: An immersive thrill ride through exciting replays of hot laps as players watch themselves handle their greatest challenges from a unique viewpoint in Passenger Mode.
I really hope that those 5 new Urban locations will be added to standard game as I'm not planning to buy PS VR. I would gladly pay for those maps, even if it costs like another seasson pass.

I'm not interested in re-buying the game since PSVR is out of the question for me, but I'm so excited for this!

I really hope DCVR's new features make their way into the main game, especially the new tracks.
From what I can see, there isn't enough to justify a full new release in the first place. So, I'm not certain they will make the jump - they'll want to try and use anything to justify a separate release. :(

I suppose it's seen more like a re-mastering of a game by Sony; essentially the same but for a newer generation. Some of those remastered games came with new features and other additions too - that's what occurs to me when thinking about this.

I'm still hopeful that the new tracks will come to the original DC too - with Rushy still being active via Twitter on this, I feel quite positive that he'd be doing his best to ensure we got it also.

DCVR sets a bad precedent IMHO. They seriously expect us to pony up full price for games we already own to get the VR experience, on top of the high cost of the VR headset and possibly the Neo as well? The sad thing is... plenty of people will. Everyone's already been far too conditioned into accepting re-buying games as the norm, and they're gonna eat this up hook, line and sinker. Especially the early adopters.

Presumably going forward, there won't be separate VR and non-VR versions of new games... so at least this'll be a short lived excuse for rerelease cash-ins.

*Cough* Grand Theft Auto V.

I'm not going to be popular with this, but I don't think it's as unreasonable as all that.

People don't expect to get a remake of a film or TV series for free if they already own the original - or even a reprint of a book or the talking book version when one is done. I mean, extra work has gone into this, it's essentially a new platform generation, or at least a side-branch of the existing gen and I'm sure that Sony would like as many games as possible to be ready for folks to play on it.

I also saw a tweet by Rushy yesterday suggesting that Sony are considering a price reduction for original owners, which is more than fair, I feel. Sony isn't being Evil Corp here ;) not by a long shot - nor are the adopters being conditioned, they simply wish to get a game for their new toy that they know will be good.

If my post came across as me demonizing any and all re-releases of any kind, that wasn't my intent. In many instances, re-releases can be a great thing... the HD collections on PS3 where you get several enhanced (and in some cases, difficult/expensive to find) PS2 games for the price of one, Perfect Dark XBLA, etc.

I just don't think Driveclub VR is one of them. It just sounds like Driveclub with a VR patch (yes, yes... I know it's not as easy as snapping your fingers... most patches or DLC isn't) and a handful of exclusive content added to sweeten the deal, which really could've just been DLC for the original release.

A price reduction would be good, but all I've heard is a potential price reduction for Season Pass holders, nothing for people who just own the plain retail disc version and nothing extra.

@Brend This is good footage for VR

Doors are open you can get inside :) Looks good fun to look around when driving and the visibility looks cool.

It sure looks stunning but it doesn't justify me paying for the whole VR experience I'm afraid, plus the fact I'm an old fart then I'd look frankly ridiculous wearing the gear, just hope the new tracks make their way onto the original, even if it's paid for DLC then I'll gladly pay up, just not going to get to experience the new tracks unfortunately.
