Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't some cars locked to specific club levels and if you leave a club, you lose access to those cars? I don't want that to happen when DC's servers inevitably get shut down.

Unrelated, but I thought you guys would enjoy seeing this. Gave me a good laugh.

Yeah, IIRC, the Golf GTI, M3 GTS, BAC Mono and the Zonda R are all locked at specific club levels. I think I'm missing a car here.

I lost access to them when you left the Deeeeeerrrrrp club that you made but that's besides the point haha

Sorry. I didn't even know you joined it (figured you were a random), but I left to get access to a club with higher ranks. I think it's called "SkyDragons."

But I was on your friends list...:(

Nah, don't sweat it, haha.

As for the GTP Driveclub meet up thing, I'll be sure to attend. Just don't expect good driving from me. Ever since hardcore mode came out, I've pretty much been driving exclusively in that, so whenever I go back to the original handling model, I end up braking about a mile before I have to.

Well, maybe if your usernames were similar to each other, there wouldn't be a problem. :sly:

Anyway, I can't wait to have the meetup. Is there a set date we've all decided on? I work afternoons from 2-10 PM EST, and by that time, I'm completely drained.

Well after almost 100 tries i finally got my first elite level :) And yes i had to turn off hardcore mode :boggled: In which my best time was 1:16 But with hardcore mode off( first time playing DC with HCM off) ;) ran a 1:10 :) guess i'll stay in this normal mode for a while longer :)

Doing elite levels in hardcore more...no - I don't think it'd be possible :) It was really designed for folks to have fun with but none of the actual game was designed with hardcore mode in mind.

As for the digital copy, you can always re-download from PSN if there are problems.

EDIT: I would hope that Sony unlock those cars when it comes to that time.

In regard to the meet-up, it will definitely require some planning to deal with time-zones etc. I would love to see as big a turn-out as possible. In my head I'm thinking we do a tour of 2 circuits per location - one point-to-point, one circuit.

Could everyone please reply with their time-zones and preferred day of the week?

'No i didn't mean i have any problem with the download, My worry comes from, What if one day sony looks at DC and says its time to remove this game from PSN? Can you still download a game that you own even if sony removes it from PSN?

That's my worry cause then we only have the Disk version which doesn't have any of the dlc or bug fix's :indiff:

I think you will be able to download the patches anyways.

Stop buying digital games if you aren't ready to deal with the fact that the license you buy is temporary...
If you want to basically rent a game for as long as it is available, you buy it digitally. If you want to own it, you buy a physical copy.

I like digital :) I only buy physical if the game i buy digital becomes special enough to me that i must own the physical copy as well

I can't see DLC being an issue after the game support ceases - regardless of whether or not your game is physical or digital, DLC itself is digital only, so they cannot remove the re-download facility as you have paid for that content.

Yeah they can. When buying digital, you are paying for a temporary license that they are free to revoke at any time.

Could you provide the info on where that was stated?

My sources are the terms of condition that you agree to when buying a game on Steam, PSN and I assume XBOX Live as well. You aren't buying the games. You are buying a license to use them. A few games have over the years vanished from PSN, which means that even people who had originally purchased those games were no longer able to download them. Of course Sony, Steam or any other entity isn't going to delete them off of your harddrive. But they have the right to remove the content from the store servers at any time.

A game might be available for download for decades, or just a few years. That is why I typically refrain from buying digital content, as I like to know that I can install and play the game any time I want.

Monday or Tuesday typically work best for me. Anywhere within 12:30 PM - 4:30 PM EST is preferred, and I can then play again after 7:00.

It's DLC that we're talking about here, not the game license itself. As DLC is only digital with no other possibility available to purchase that would mean every game out there with DLC will be in danger. Sure, a company can go under and all support will likely stop, but that's a different matter. Software licensing is an extremely complex area with other factors such as DLC playing a part in the whole debacle, different rules apply.

Whilst I haven't worked in software licensing for a good few years, so can't say for definite that this is the case, I can't imaging that everybody's DLC will no longer be available if Sony/MS/Steam or whichever distributor decides to shut the game servers down and stop support: there would have been an outcry already from that 'great gaming public' out there - let's face it, they get vocal at the slightest of things already, so I think this would be already a known thing.

I will look into this later, but as of right now, I think you are wrong with this.

Sorry, I was talking about the games themselves. That said, I'm pretty sure DLC's are sold under the same conditions. Most games have either a GOTY edition that includes DLC, or they actually sell the DLC on its own.

I could see the divergence occuring, so thought I'd better clarify :)

True, there are GOTYs around, but still they represent only a percentage of games that have sold DLC. So far, I haven't been able to pinpoint a specific clause that comes down on either side of the matter...but I'm still looking and Google will not defeat me with its stupid misdirections.

DLC use, as in software or coding is certainly covered, but so far it's only been directed at penalties and warnings against alteration of such.

I could still download Gran Turismo HD after it was removed from PSN.

There are some examples of games simply vanishing from both the store and the download list.
Gamespot did an article on it at some point as well, but I'm not going to go digging for that now.
Interesting. I wonder if those other removed titles were also license/contention issues? Sadly, not much can be done about that: like one of the comments suggested, it's like losing your stuff in a house fire - you'd only get the things back that are still available (assuming you were insured.)

EDIT: fair play for digging that up by the way - it's at least evidence that there has been chatter about the subject.

Not related to the current topic of conversation, but does anyone know why the brakes don't glow on the lower class cars?
No idea really - I can only think it has to do with the power/weight ratio being too low or maybe if the lower tier cars have disc brakes - sorry, I'm not enough of a car fanatic to know straight off I'm afraid.

This game is refreshing fun after playing assetto corsa for about 14-15 hours( I play the PC version. Not the console). I don't really need practice to get the hang of the handling physics because the cars stays more on the road. On hardcore mode though, It is close the assetto but it is still easier.

On a Sunday possibly around 9pm. (BST)
