Driver: San Francisco

Im am trying to decide whether I pick this up or Need for speed the RUn wich also looks really good any thoughts ?

I was initially interested in this game because I thought that FOR ONCE there was a possibility to get a large city layed out in which we could drive cars with realistic physics and wheels and pedals and shifters, but yet again I am disappointed.

I can not really understand why the h*** no company understands that they can score extra points in doing this, evn 2K didnt add wheel and pedal support for Mafia II, though I must say the cars in Mafia II felt VERY nice in terms of weight at least in my opinion.

Played the MP demo last night. Very, very fun. There's two modes - Tag & Trailblazer. Tag is where one car is "it" (starts off as an AI car in front of the pack) and whoever holds "it" long enough to earn 100 points wins. Very fun, and very reckless haha.

The other mode is trailblazer, where an AI car is driving around (I assume a preset route or something guided) and you need to stay in its trails to earn points. But only one car can do that at a time.

Both modes have a qualifying mode that come before it. These are about a minute long and vary from highest jump distances, most overtakes, fastest average speed. Then the game mode order is determined from qualifying.

The shift mechanic is pretty fun online, to me. Very fun and hilarious shifting up ahead of cars and running into them. Or if you're good enough, shifting into a ramp truck someone is about to take and screw them up.

The car handling is still eh, but I'm definitely more interested in the game now. Still not Day 1 for me, but I'll definitely consider picking it up when it's on sale. It's a Ubisoft game, after all. It will be on sale extremely quickly.

Are you for real? Why on earth would Mafia II have wheel support when it involves getting out of the car, shooting, etc? They day we see GTA have wheel support (never) is the day that any other game like it will.

MP demo still isn't working for me, apparently there's nobody online. Anyone else having this problem?

EDIT: Tried joining a game with a friend after sending a friend invite. He disconnected but I managed to join a game with a couple of people for a minute or so. So far, I've never joined a game by my self, so it may be a matter of joining with someone else. Feel free to add me. 👍

How would you be able to use Shift online? If one person tries it then everyone else slows down (I cba waiting to play the demo and find out even though it's over half-way done :P)

Me too, I wonder how I must be the ONLY person playing the MP demo.

It simply keeps moving in real time, as opposed to slowing down. You have to be a lot quicker to Shift online than offline.

Good to know it's not only me.

Anyone on at the moment? I just got on and have tried a few times to get into a game...

I've been trying for the last couple of hours. I'm still on, just send me a friend request or something, I'm waiting to get back online as that minute or so I had was bloody fantastic.

So it seems to work only with private games. Daniel and I went on for a minute or two, but I really didn't have any idea what we were doing . Let's all send each other adds so we can play online some time.

Tag is amazing. I once shifted into an old Fiat Abarth and, quite accidently tbh, got the tag. Scored around 40 points escaping some Corvettes, RUFs and such. Trailblazer isn't really my thing. Too 'brutal' for me :D

I downloaded the MP demo last night and I have to say, it's quite fun. Played tag and trailblazer with Turbo and I enjoyed the controls and the ability to switch cars quickly. I'm tempted to get it when it comes out.

Perhaps because a lot of Fans of Mafia wanted it to be so due to the fact that the original game released in 2002 had support for wheel and pedals, force feedback and even manual shifting with clutch, thats why.

I just played the demo for this game last night and I'm really impressed. I like that they have licensed cars now. They did a good job on the interiors that I saw so far, and the cars sound pretty nice too. I was a big fan of the original Driver and Driver 2. I never played any of the ones after that. I hear people have a tendency to accuse Driver of being a Grand Theft Auto ripoff, but if I'm not mistaken, Driver had that "GTA" format before GTA did. Back then GTA was still a top-down view game.

I think i'll be more intrested in the multiplayer aspect of the game opposed to the single-player part. I had quite a bit of fun in the tag and trailblazer game modes.

I play the Multilayer demo, and it is pretty fun. I race against two players only, but full room and could be really fun.

Wow the Driver demo was bad! What is up with that "shift" thing!?Also the thing that ruined it for me was that you can't run people over!
That's real physics!
Overall I'm disappointed about the demo and thought it could of been better!

Notice how the title of the game is not "Grand Theft Auto" 👎
