Driver: San Francisco

Im just curious as to whether there are different endings available?

I didn't take all his energy bar down and then I got a cutscene on the final mission, I'm just wondering whether I could have actually taken him down and got a different ending, or whether the game was always going to step in just before his energy read zero.......

I thought the ending was pants myself. Though I have really enjoyed driving the Zonda and some of the old stuff, it is not a 'buy me' game, as first and foremost, I cannot change the flippin button config, and I hate using the triggers to brake and accelerate, I am NOT an XBOX owner......

:irked:👍

You can't take his whole energy bar down, at the end I rammed him really hard couple of times but he didn't lose anymore energy. So just one ending.

Well ,I've completed the storyline and I'm now blasting through the side missions in my Zonda Cinque. I've got about 78 of the cars at the moment...

Does anyone have a Uplay passport?

Yup, but I don't know why other than unlocking the film director. I guess it's supposed to let you get "stuff" of some kind, with points earned from playing the game, but there doesn't seem to be anything to get. I don't think the service is fully functional yet.

I think you need one to access online mode..?

Yah, and a few challenges also, forgot about that. Thanks for the reminder. I've been too busy having flashbacks to the days of driver 1/2, and just free roam cruising, causing destruction and ticking off cops. Haven't even messed with the online mode yet. :)

The engine sounds are great; they have a very authentic sound to them, and fit the cars' engines. If it's a V12, it probably sounds like one ;)

I love how they didn't choose the top-of-the-line models like every developer does these days.

Instead of a Q7 V12 TDI, you get a 4.2 FSI. And the Impala only comes with a V6. I think that's quite neat, and it adds some much needed diversity in the racing genre.

I played the demo again last night. Love how they modeled the induction cowl movement on the Challenger! Will be picking this up on Friday as it's payday.

Any idea how long it takes to open the whole map?

About 3 hours if you are good enough.

I have a uplay code that came with the game I rented.

Should I scratch it off to see what it is, or put it back in the box for the next renter to discover?

Just popped in the Driver SF disc, for the first time, and there are now Uplay Passports for free!
Which is great because mine is a rented version :)

You can see the code (if you look carefully) through the scratchy thing. :dopey:

Its a code that you need to unlock onlineplay, film director and some extra challenges.

When I scratched my U-play passport the code went almost unreadable, but I got it right after few trys.

Bought it last week, been playing it on and off, the story mode seems pretty short - only spaced out by the necessity to do the city missions in order to unlock the next Tanner mission.

Some bit's I really like - like the Movie Challenges, some bit's a I really hate, like the Smash races...

For the most part it's a good looking and sounding game, although sometimes some of the building's look a little low-rent, i.e. 1 polygon with badly aligned photo textures.

I was massive fan of Driver 1, 2 and 3... and although this is a good game it doesn't seem to stand-out as much to me as the previous titles did.

.. first game I've played where using cockpit view comes naturally, which is good.

Anyway, that just my two cents...

I enjoyed messing around in it for a couple of hours. The engine sounds outside the cars are a bit dumbed down but they're pretty epic in cockpit, especially with the over-run noises.

I've been playing the demo, the thing I don't like is the whole body switching aspect. Just do a cop story. I'll have to play the demo more to see if it grows on me.

The switch thing makes ALOT more sense after you get to the ending. I won't say more to avoid spoilers. :sly:

Enjoyed the demo so I figured I'd order a copy. The car list is very impressive, and the physics could be a bit more realistic but they're fun nonetheless.

Oh, and they also could've skipped the shift and boost functions in my book, but that's me.

Definitely a step in the right direction.

I'd like it more if the gas and brakes could be assigned to the right stick, and had more sensitivity than "full on", "full off", and "somewhere in the middle". Otherwise I find the physics to be much like the original D1 and 2, albeit a bit more refined, perhaps a bit more stable. That's part of what I liked about the first two: the "TV show car chase" look you got from throwing around cars and being able to do so mainly because of a well balanced, but nowhere near realistic arcade physics model.

Yes, it definitely brings the franchise back to it's roots, which is what I too like about it. I still think it could've been just a little bit more realistic though, without making it too difficult to handle. The sense of speed could've been closer to real life as well I think. Feels too fast in a way IMO.

I also love the fact that you are NOT able to get out of your car, just like in the first game.
