Drivetrain conversions

An FR Eclipse GT '05, Mazda Axela, Honda Integra, Subaru Legacy B4 2.0 GT and a whole bunch of other cars look cool but could be a lot more useful if converted to drift car.

If they added drag racing, that wouldn't be a problem. Even if they didn't, people would drag anyway. More options never hurts. We've had drag cars before in GT even though they couldn't turn and there was no where to use them (GT2 HKS drag racer). Still, it was fun to drive.

I just like to discuss things, don't mind me. If everyone agreed I wouldn't be here, it would be a dull forum lol.

A AWD F40 won't necessarily be slower. If you had a conversion built to F1 quality in terms of design and materials I'd expect it to be much faster. There's really nothing you can't do to a car, it just depends on how much time and money you want to throw at it. I don't think those should be concerns in GT though. Just keep the focus on realism.

Well I guess we'll have to agree to disagree, the time and money to throw crowd is going to result in twin turbo V12 awd shopping carts...a little restraint will result in a GT6 before 2020..lol

Front to Rear

That only works because USDM TC is based from JDM Toyota Avensis which is available with awd..so more like front(awd) to rear

Drivetrain conversions is a VERY REAL feature in real life. If GT wants to be the ultimate game with the ultimate, in-depth tuning options, then it better has it.

I have been there once. I made a covenant before God that I would never, ever, go there again.

Seriously. It's unbelievably a pain sometimes going there. There's no fun in it. All the "elitist" over there just, eh I don't know... irks me. Maybe it's different now, but I'm not gonna take my chances again.

Maybe converting a CTR Yellowbird to the CTR2s 4WD will make it a bit less tail-happy.

I wonder if anybody has tried this in real life?

Stop the off-topic chat and also remember the AUP is quite clear that text-speak is not permitted.

Probably Porsche lol

It would be cool to put an RX-7 or RX-8 chassis and drivetrain beneath the Axela '03 and the Atenza 26Z, also give them the 654x2 rotary and then they'll actually be fun to drive.

Putting a Supra chassis and drivetrain beneath a Celica SS-II '99 would make it more versatile.

S2000 chassis & drivetrain for the Integra DC5 would be nice, I can't think of amything for the FN2 Civic :(

I've already been fixed in this. "It can be done in real life, why not in a game?"

I already know it's possible :odd:

I'd rather use the S2000 chassis for a DC5 because it's an X-frame and is also probably a better size match, also I would want a RWD DC5 to be FR, so S2000 would be my preference.

Lose the rear seats  but ok, no.

It would be cool if we could take chassis & drivetrains from racing cars;

Focus ST 170 with Focus rally car drivetrain & engine.
Focus ST '06 with Focus WRC '08 drivetrain, engine & chassis.
Toyota Celica SS-II with ST205 rally car drivetrain.

You're basically exchanging one car for another. What would be left of the Focus ST, if you're going to use the chassis from the WRC car? The chassis is the car.

The body. I would like an AWD Focus for the road :)

The only experience I've really had was forza 3 at a mates driving a converted 4wd focus RS '09. It felt like a rally car and it was going to be 4wd but would of put it over 30k so they left it. C4 is another, if made for rally, why not road

There are certain cars that you should be able to convert. For example, if I have a WRX STi and I want to properly drift it, I need FR. So you should be able to convert cars from AWD to FR, FR to AWD, FF to FR, And possibly FF to AWD. I left out rear engine and mid-engine but you all should know what I mean. So with that said, I should able to create a race car/drift car/Rally car out of a road car.

Also, remember that GT500 GT-Rs and Skylines are converted to RWD.

Creating drift cars, racing cars and rally cars from road cars is what I qoud most enjoy doing with such a feature.

Yes I want it.

I really don't see what's wrong with drivetrain conversions. People say they wouldn't look right in a GT game, yet we had a MR Honda Del Sol in GT1 & GT2, and we have a 4WD FTO in GT5. Both of these are fictional cars created by PD themselves. I hope in GT6, we will be allowed to make these type of cars. And don't stop at just drive trains. Engine placement options would be cool too.

Engine swapping would be nice too, though I'll be happy if it's manufacturer restricted, e.g. 1.3 rotary in Mazda Axela '03

Not just manufacturer restricted, Company restricted like Ferrari engine in maserati or alfa romeo. So within VW..Audi A8 W12 enigne in Golf (been done)etc

If the heads of the group allow it then sure 👍

I would hope that means all FHI group manufacturers could share engines...

Mazda Axela + Subaru 2.0l B4 + RWD = Mind Blown 👍

Don't forget about the Chrysler~Fiat agreement.
Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR engine in a '65 500. That would be a great drag racer do to its high (>1000) horsepower and low weight.
