Another awsome race for the NA division! Can't wait till the next round!
After squeezing a fast lap at the last moment I was able to secure pole position, but it was all in vane. After an early spin on lap 2 or 3 costed me big time as I barely touched the insde rail going up to the 3rd tunnel straight, seemed like a very light impact but enough to give me front suspension and engine damage. Sometimes this cars seem to fragile. From there on was a race long strategic battle beteewn Death by Rotor, S4rings and me for 3rd place. They had me wandering about time gap all race long, as we were all out of sequence from each other! Managed to bring the car home to a 3rd place and 1 lap down. Really paid for my mistake I feel I had the car for a race win this weekend.

NA race was a great race! Good turnout and was a hard fought race. There wasn't a clear winner during the race, almost everyone was switching positions at one point.
The main race was for 3rd and 4th places. DEATH, Jav and myself switched positions half a dozen times, at least, during the race. Even Sassafrass got into the action this race, nipping at the heals of DEATH and myself.
I was confident at the begining of the race but had troubles when I bumped into Jav only a couple laps in. This made me pit, then the next lap I lost control and slid at 100+ mph into a barrier. I had to pit again. I knew my 1st place dreams were in tatters. I pitted at least 4-5 times this race.
DEATH, Jav, myself, Sassafrass, and All_in_won all had catastrophic collisions with immovable objects called...walls.
Good racing everyone, and what a DTM race!!!!👍👍

The inevitable happened at the end of the strait, Jav and I lost it, luckily Jav was able to save it and not slide off the track. I wasn't so lucky.

Now, SPOLTY and GTP_MojoToker were in the lead with DEATH right on their spoilers
Later in the race, Jav is infront, this was the begining of the battle for 3rd, 4th place, I'm on the right, and DEATH is creeping up on the left

Last friday me and a friend of mine (Chikataks) competed for the first time in the EU series, for us the first time ever to do such a ' serious' thing. We both enjoyed It, but I can see there is a lot more fun to be had If everything works out the way It was planned. I noticed a lot of connection problems from one or two members, who in the end couldn't join the race, which was a pity. I am no expert, but am also member of another group, (have to say I haven't participated a race yet), who are very strict when It comes to connections ,like host has to be hardwired, everyone should have NAT-2 (not Nat 3) etc. And there also seems to be something about when in private rooms It's the host who is the weakest link, in public sessions this is not the case.
Anyway, taking part was fun, I can join again next friday, but I have to ask something. I noticed my lap times were about 4-5 secs slower, now I didn't know the track as well, but good enough, surely after 50 laps. I noticed on the straights othe rcars were a lot faster, so yes, about 1-2 secs I can blame on the car. I haven't made any damage, and could do with 1 pit stop for tyres, although afterwards a 2nd pits stop might be better. I raced about 20 laps on 2nd position, but the rest of the cars just was too fast. Same for chicataks, our fastest laps were similar (about 1.15.xx). I wonder If It has something to do with powerlimiting ? Any thoughs ? Is It better to remove parts rather than limit bhp ? Anyway, thanks for the experience, and I think Goruk77 deserves his place on the podium (connection problems last laps).
PS The NA series race looks great !!!. Me, being the sole Astra in EU, wonder how the NA Astra's are set up..

Deep forest requires alot of practice to learn the right lines and where to brake, lift off and turn in points. I was doing 1.13s to start, and then after some practice i could get 1.10s easily. The last corner if taken correctly could give you an extra second. I think a perfect lap round there could yield a 1.08. I got a low 1.09 but messed the last corner up.
The same will apply with trial mountain, and getting the lines right through there
On a side note, Symp once again drove a perfect race (i think) me and goruk could have challenged him but goruk made a mistake and ended up in last and battled up to second. I had the lead after 2 laps, and was getting ready to settle down into a rythmn and bam i hit a couple of walls, ended up with 3 stops in 5 laps, race ruined. Luckily after the incidents, i drove a clean race and was able to string together alot of 1.10s and start reeling in minardi and chickatas (i kept seeing him in the pits with me). I pulled an outrageous move on minardi into the first corner, i had the inside line and was neck and neck with him on the straight and slammed the brakes on just under the bridge and made stick.
The first couple of laps, the racing between me, symp and goruk was close. Must have been less than 3-4 secs covering us, and it cumulated into me catching a massive draft off goruk down the pit straight, whilst symp got the double draft. Unfortunately i had my gearing very short, and run out of steam so symp easily drove past, but once again my braking came to my rescue, symp had a car length on me and i outbraked him into the first corner, as result of all this pressure goruk got some oversteer on the exit and put his car into the wall.

Its the way you setup these cars, my fastest lap of Deep Forest was a 1.07.799, I was hitting 1.08.3-5s regularly...
Its the line you take and how you brake for the corners is where the fast laps come from.
Thanks for all the props for the pics, sounds like something I will do for the rest of the series. I guess its a great recap and everyone enjoys looking at them.

@Mojo; thanks for the tip on the Astra. I will take a look at set ups.
@Symp; Yes, a part must be set ups, as I haven't touched anything, besides the limiter. And of course knowing the track. I saved the replay, so I am going to study your style : ) I was surprised I managed to be some sort of thread a part of the race, just staying on track Is what did It for me. If I can only reduce the lap time difference, It can get interesting. Again, I don't have time to practice before friday, but hope to be a little more competitive. BTW, I think Chicataks won't be able to join next friday.

Hi guys. Sorry havnt been able to update much this week. On nights for first time in 2 months and havnt found the time. Awsome pictures and race recaps guys! Really missed not racing this week. Was going to get up and race the NA series on Sunday morning. Had my alarm set for 4:30am and everything. Alas, i did not get up...Nevermind, race 4 on Friday.
Also need to sort out Goruk77's position for race 3. I think he should have 2nd for the EU race but with no final time i dont know where he should be in the overall standings. Could we get his time for the 49 complete laps and add 2:20 (ish) to it?

I got a friend who would like to join the NA race next saturday (and all the ones to follow).
He ain't super fast but he's really clean and will abide by any rules. 👍
He's already a GTPlanet member, I gave him a link to this thread to follow up on.
So, if it ain't an issue with anyone, I'd appreciate if we could accept a driver even though the Championship is already underway.
The more the marrier right?
