Standing updated here as of Race 3.

S4RINGS' lead in the overall championship is cut to 7pts after a good performance from Mojo_toker in week 3. Imolared is 1pt further back after missing the last race so will be hoping for a good result tonight. SPOLTY makes a great improvement jumping from 10th to 5th after coming out on top in week 3. Jav (4th) and Deathbyrotor (6th) make it a championship top heavy with the North American contingent with SymP being the top European in 7th.

Constructors Championship points scorers.
Week 3
SPOLTY (1st) and Jav (3rd) scored 16pts for Mercedes
Deathbyrotor (6th) and Mojo_toker (2nd) scored 11pts for Vauxhall
Goruk77 (8th) scored 1pt for Audi

Vauxhall now into 2nd place in the Constructors championship but Mercedes increase their lead with an impressive week (1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 7th)

Yeah thanks mojo for not only being our first ever pace car in the EU Series but also being our room security guard during qualifying, as every Thomas, Richard and Harold tried to get on the track.

He politely told everyone that it was a private room followed by a quick explanation of GTP and DTM. 👍 Dont think Smuder had to kick anyone off as they left (some took longer than others..) of their own accord.

This left him plenty of time to put in some stunning qualifying laps. 1:19.xxx (Smudge might know the right time) was the best after a 30 min session.
But, as the race started i found myself on pole...despite my best being a 1:22.xxx.

It turns out the grid for a public lobby room is wrong meaning we will have to sort out the grid positions a different way, as pole comes with a bonus 3pts in the NA/EU Series. Any ideas, let them be known.

Anyway, it was a good race with the best turnout for the EU series yet (6 starters + pace car:tup:). Although there was some lag issues, atleast I finally got to race with Goruk and nicnew at the same time, which was a bonus.

One more thing, the Race Finish Delay was set to 30sec meaning only the winner managed to post a time. Should have been set to max (180sec). So i am going to use the Goruk Formula (yes i have named it after last weeks unfortunate victim) to determine times for everyone else.

The Goruk Formula
t = Total time when car last crossed the start/finish line
L = Laps complete when last crossed the finish line
R = Laps remaining when last crossed finish line
F = Formation lap time

A = Average (non formation lap) lap time = (t - F) / (L - 1)

T = Total Time = (A x R) + t - F

And i've got a Monza practice room open tonight, all night.

Thanks again for the learning experience guys. While not being too competitive, I till enjoy taking part and learning, and meeting clean drivers who share the same interest. I have read somewhere, I should have to dig a little further, but public qualify works If you don't do a 'certain' thing, but have to find again what that 'certain' was, something about not returning to the lobby while in qualify, not anyone.

Personally, I found the lag too much to race. In lap 2, first lap after pace car (Thanks Mojo !) I was taken out, and I believe unintentionally. I tried to pass, and all of a sudden someone hit me, came out of nowhere. In my case, not everyone's car was lagging, Smudger's car was fine, but Nicnew's was lagging all over the place. Kind of spoiled It, still worth the effort looking back, but could be so much better.

I look forward to Monza, I know that track a lot better than the previous 2, so hope to be a liitle faster than the last 2 races.

Question; how much times do you guys pit JUST for tyres in an hour race ? After my lap 1 accident I only did a 2nd pit stop around lap 20 for tyres, but am not sure If that is the right strategy.

I had 2 pit stops too. Spent about 90% of race with 2 red circles on my front though. Should have pit earlier because it cost me about 4-5 seconds per lap.

I normally try to only pit once because im not quite at Symp/Goruk/Smudger pace yet so have to make it up with less pit stops.

I was in 2nd after Minardi and Goruk pit at about lap 31-32. I had already had my 2nd pit stop so i thought the stratagy had worked. But then i hit another wall and my 2 circles came back...

I'll settle for 4th and the EU points but i dont think i was quick enough for overall series points (knowing how quick the NA guys are)

Cant wait for Monza! Was doing 1:48.xxx's last night. Best was a 1:46:4xx. Doing more this afternoon if anyone wants to join me.

Yes, my strategy too, but even than I am not on their (and your) pace. I think I can practice a little more this week, so hope to be a little quicker in the corners.
 
Ye sorry about that delay thing, i forgot to change it back due to the random room closure at the start of qualifying. We will have to try that connection setup again, as i had been playing gt5 all day so that might have affected it. But the fixed host public lobby seems the way to go.
Btw minardi, i pitted twice once at lap 15 and lap 30ish. Just made sure i didnt ruin my tires in the first couple of corners by backing off.

Monza will be intresting, whether or not to strip of all the downforce.

I did notice quite a bit of lag on pretty much every driver in the race. :scared:
I personally got tons of lag in my first NA race. The only thing I've changed on my side is to not use my bluetooth for the chat and since the 2nd race, all my lag problems went away. We now have really smooth racing in the NA series. Don't know if S4 changed something in the hosting process but everything is fine on our side. :)

p.s. the NA race was a blast again last nite, I'm sure S4 will post a recap sometime soon. About to watch the replay myself
 
Well it took 4 races to get to this point. We had an awesome turnout! We had enough racers that at any given point during the race, there was someone to catch up to or try and pass. It was super spread out and there was always someone to overtake.

A total of 11 drivers took place yesterday and it was some great clean racing!
DEATH basically walked away with this race, got in first and stayed there for the rest of the race. SPOLTY made a great run and ended up finishing in 2nd. For most of the race I was racing positions 6-3. I ended up making a hard push in the latter half of the race and it paid off. I ended up 3rd.

There was a lot of passing by everyone and a few big crashes that are worth noting. I experienced no lag issues and I’m assuming no one else did.
So without further delay, (I know a few are looking forward to the race report for the NA group) here is my race report…

It started well, there were 11 drivers this time around and like last time, shout out to cmbeal for his pimptastic SLS Pace Car.

Cant see the pictures, because im on work computer, but im sure they are as awsome as always.
I will have a EU race report up soon but it wont be anywhere near the size of you're one.

The next race is Monza (week 5) by the way. Monaco was race 2 (i hope).

Was hoping to do a combined series for the special stage (week 6) at the Top Gear Test Track.
We will have to work out a time best for EU and NA but, i think we could do it.
If it works then i'll be up for having a combined race 11 (week 12) at Nurburgring GP/F.
Rounds both halves of the series off nicely!

Laps to be set to 36 by host.

There are a number of areas around Monza where you can cut chicanes without penalty. You will not be penalised as long as you have at least 2 wheels on (or above) the hard surfaces at all times. However, due to the good nature and professionalism in which the DTM Series has been raced so far, i would like to propose the following "gentleman's agreement"

To make a genuine attempt to race every chicane and corner as it was designed to be raced, unless to do so would cause, or may cause, an incident. In short, keep two wheels on the track surface (inside the cerb) at all times.

See you at Monza for, what looks to be, a cracker!

In the case of the 2nd chicane for other series what we've done is no wheels beyond the blue paint. This worked great as it is the quickest way arround without actually cutting the chicane. You might want to look at that as a guideline.
 
Thanks for the hard work JT. Nice to see where you stand compared to the NA-series. Not as bad as I expected, so that is alway nice to know.

Struggling on Monza though, yesterday did not get lower than 1.50.xxx, may be lower the down force a little more (or learn how to take these chicanes) ?!?! I was in Godoias lounge for 45 min., but never saw Godoias ?

About the chicanes; The 2 wheel/blue paintrules are fine with me, and give back your position if you gained a position by (accidently) cutting or missing the chicane.

Nice work again JT! I see the EU members came very close to the NA's this time.

One remark about the 'Goruk formula':

I think people need to have driven a minimum amount of laps to qualify for this formula. Theoretically you can set a very good total time to just drive a few fast laps, make a pit stop and never come out again.

Not that I'm afraid this will ever happen but just to make the rules strict and solid! 💡
 
SymP - Thats almost what nicnew did but, with one very important addition.
He stopped in the pits on his lap 19 and re-entered when smudge was on his lap 37 or 38. I think he stopped because the lag was too much.
But by staying in the race, and then being on the track at the end, he finished the race.
He was given a time based on the goruk formula having completed 22 laps.
His average time was (i dont have access to the full figures) about 1:28.000 for his 1st 18 laps.
This was multiplied by 19 (laps not complete) and added to his time at lap 22.
This gave him a time of 1:35:00.xxx obviously not good enough to win the race but, as he stayed with the race and finished it, enough for some points.
So you can see that pitting after say 3 laps and coming out for the last lap would not effect the top positions, as the time spent in the pits would be added to the 40 lap time.
If they didn't come out of the pits then they would get a DNF (3 laps).

Minardi - I think i've been making up a lot of time in the s-section near the end of the lap.
Dropping to 3rd gear for the first part followed by flat out round the last two parts. Seemed to be catching Symp on that part on Sunday, and getting a good run at him down the second to last straight.
I've been doing 1:46.xxx's pretty consistantly and getting the odd 1:45.xxx now and then, ecspecially if i get a good draft.

Jav - Dont have access to pictures at moment but will have a look at what you mean when i get home. Sounds good though.👍
Problem is i wont be giving out penalties for cutting the chicanes as i cant sit and watch every car, at every chicane for the whole race (x2). It'll just have to be an unwritten rule, which will be frouned apon...

Has anyone had a look at the new format for the Special Stage? ^^Details in the link a few posts up^^

How are your times coming on Goruk?
Did you and Godoias have connection problems on Sunday? You both disconnected at same time. Maybe the Portugal internet exchange had a problem?
