How are your times coming on Goruk?
Did you and Godoias have connection problems on Sunday? You both disconnected at same time. Maybe the Portugal internet exchange had a problem?

The best i have made was 1.44.5xx without chicane cutting:) a lot of times in the 1.45.xxx i guess this one gonna be close...

About the connection, i was trying to enter your room but i always getting a error message :grumpy:

All standings updated for Race 4.

Constructors Championship points scorers.
Week 4
Deathbyrotor (1st) and Smudger92 (2nd) scored 18pts for Mercedes**
Goruk77 (5th) and JT977 (8th) scored 5pts for Audi
Mojo_Toker (7th) scored 2pts for Vauxhall

**Have both of these drivers changed their cars from what they started with?

What i would give to have one week where i dont have to make a decision on a ruling...lol

Anyway, Symp_4000 remains at the top of the EU series by virtue of having won more races, as Goruk77 takes advantage of his absence from race 4. The two are now tied on 50pts. Smudger92's win at Trial Mountain propels him into 3rd, 5pts behind the top two. Godoias puts in a fine display in his first race with a 3rd place.

In the NA Series S4RINGS extends his lead to 20pts with a solid 4th in race 4. The race for second is now closer than ever with just 2, yes two, pts separating DBR, MojoToker and Jav on 46, 44 and 44 points respectively. SPOLTY continues to show promise with his 2nd place at Trial Mountain giving him 37pts.

Two points also separates DBR, MojoToker and SPOLTY for 2nd in the overall championship. S4RINGS still leads with 29pts as the pack trail by 9, 10 and 11 points respectively. Godoias picks up 3 points in his first DTM start.

Yesterday I was in a Portugese lobby (Godoias/Goruk77) with about 5-6 other Portugese guys and the occassional visitor, and had absolutely NO lag problems. What a difference with last weeks Trial Mountain race, where especially Goruk and Nicnew (from my point of view) where all over the place. I even managed to race a few laps side by side on Monza, so great fun. I am a little worried though about the chicanes, I can see in a non organized open lobby race Monza is no fun, GT5 really does a bad job with that.

Edit; I can't join the SS-race next week.

Can't say for Smudger92, but I'm pretty sure I had a pretty nice on track battle with DBR a few races back and I'm pretty pretty, pretty sure he was running the same car I was. :sly:

I don't really care either way, let him defect to Germany if he :censored:in' wants, but his soul belongs to Vauxhall and so do the constructor points...

I'm obviously not gonna win the NA or overall championships.

Please let me and my team have a chance at SOME champagne bubbles... The beer and pot combo's getting old

Yer guys, i changed car, swapped it with a friend as he couldn't drive the mercedes, but could drive the audi so i had to let it go. Im happy to let my points go to whichever constructor. Can't believe we are nearly half way through. DTM series 2 anyone?

I'd like to see the Lexus ISF racing concept on season 2. It is possible to make it competitive now with the ballast system.

Im still not sold on the Lexus. It's not that its not competitive that i dont like it in the series. It's that it's not European.
I have nothing against Japanese cars it's just that i dont think it fits in to a German Touring Car Series.
There is lots of other series where it would fit in though.
Is it just me that thinks this?
I am certainly not ruling it, or any other car, out of a place in 'The DTM 2', just think it would need more people to want it in.

I quite like the look of the BMW M3 Race Car for a place in 'The DTM 2'
images

I think it looks like a DTM car, and i was surprised, when i saw it, that it had never raced in the 'real' DTM.
Dont know how it would match up to the other cars (i do have one, i just havn't had time to drive it) but would be interested to find out.
Maybe give it a run round Monza tonight for a test drive and compare it to my Audi TT-R times.

Oh, by the way, 'The DTM 2' will definitely be happening! I think the success, escpecially in the NA series, and the amount of interest we have in the group will see this grow and grow.
We have all been learning this first season.
Even with the rule changes, car changes, track changes, game updates, connection problems, we still have over 20 people, from 6 or 7 countries, in countless different time zones (lol) who still cant wait for their next DTM race!

The only reason the ISF never raced is because Toyota screwd up and never got a solid deal with a team to run the car for them, when they should've run a factory effort to begin with.

No testing for monza complete at all upto now, could be a fun couple of days sorting the car out. Goruk got it down to 1.44.5s think that is a very good time, not really drove monza on gt5 mainly F1 2010.

1:45.3-5 is the quickest DEATH and myself could manage last night...

This race will be interesting, if you loose the pack, there bascially is no way of winning 1st. This will be all about the draft and when to pit

Send me a PM EFJ!

W can get you into the next race. Have you read all the rules and regs for this series? Such as the rolling starts?

Just asking, its good if everyone understands whats going on and what allowed and whats not.

Hit me up man!

With the inclusion of other makes of touring cars, may be call It WTCC-series ? If the Lexus and BMW can be matched to fit in the present field, why not. BMW is supposed to enter DTM in 2012 anyway.

I had a bad test session last night, car just felt disgusting (maybe due to driving an x1 since Saturday) got some handy points by watching the races after being punted off by a random. That second chicane is causing the car to spin every time

Who is going to host tomorrow ? And open lobby ? If It is an open lobby, we have to be aware of wrong qualifying order.

All I can say Is that Deep Forest race was better; less lag and qualifying went OK, we all know what happened with Nicnew, JT and Goruk.

Trail Mountain was a disaster considering lag and qualify. But everyone could join.

Difficult I guess.

Try a lounge with me as host, as then everyone will be connected to each other instead of fixed host, gt5 works the internet so hard. no fixed host = less lag, but unsure if people can connect. We can try early before the race tomorrow if people want ?

Myself and Godoias had trouble on Tuesday night. The only way we got connected was in a Fixed Connection, hosted by a 3rd party, in a public lobby :(. But i would like to try an open connection in a private lobby first on friday.
I think Symp said that the European exchange is in Amsterdam so he might be better placed to connect everybody. Dont know if it'll work or not.
I'll be available from 20:00GMT on Friday to try to work something out.

EJF, welcome to the series. Just watch out for the NA series numbers as we are close to full in that series. If everyone in that series wanted to race i think it would be more than 16.

Minardi - tested the BMW M3 GTR last night. Did a 1:47.xxx with stage 3 turbo (limited to 502bhp) and about 2 or 3 minutes of tuning. Compared to my 1:45-6s of my TT-R i would say it was competitive, escpecially after some more tuning.

BMW is supposed to enter DTM in 2012 anyway.
If it's good enough for DTM2012 then its good enough for DTM2 :)

We can give the lounge a try again but it will probably end up in JT, Goruk and Nicnew disconnecting randomly.
I can host a fixed room also tomorrow. Maybe it's better if the host is located on the main land (?). I'm once told that Amsterdam is the main HUB for European data transfer (and abroad). Don't know if that still counts though.

Anyway, it will be a choice between lag and people disconnecting...

Finally, one thing Amsterdam is good for :)

I was in a lobby with Godoias and Goruk Tuesday evening (around 18.00 GMT+1), and some more guys, and everything was fine, even no lag. Don't know what the settings were though.

Trial and error friday, we will see.

Only thing that bothers me about the BMW it's that it has its place on racing, it belongs in GT1 and trying to fit it into DTM just does'nt feel right...

A good and valid point.

Vote added. You can choose more than one choice and how you have voted will be made public.

Makes you appreciate the level of the driving in our series when you race the 'randoms'. I spent 5 full laps less than a second behind symp last time. No lag and didn't touch the whole race.

I think that the IS-F has no business running with the other DTM cars, it understeers like a semi truck compared to the "true" DTM cars. I just bought it and ran some laps, Its slow for me. I'm wayyyy faster in my CLK or even the A4. It feels heavy and the suspension feels squishy...

Just my opinion. So I'm not voting for the IS-F.

The BMW can run with us, I don't mind.
(I'm not voting though)

Private Lounge is up for connection testing. Hope we get Goruk, JT and Nicnew connected together!

Shall I setup a fixed public lobby if it doesn't work by 20:30 GMT?

Running late guys.
Just turned on my ps3 and i've got a f*ing update to download. Dont know how long it'll take.
Any chance of a delay to the race start?

Cheers guys. How many you got in the room? I'll start from the back of the grid if you want to do qualifying.
Im on 54% at moment. Started at 8:35ish so should be finished around 9ish.

Sorry I left guys. Finally, after all the practicing, changing rooms, donuts : ) , qualify, the race began, managed to gain a few positions and than my 4yr old son decided to wake up crying. Since the wife was not at home, I had to get him back to sleep. Which ment race end for me, just when we had a great turn out and almost no lag. I felt sick, but It's the way It goes when you have children. Now that we have the connection sorted out, the delay shouldn't have to be as long anymore. Thanks everyone, hope to see you in 2 weeks.

What a difference a week makes in DTM(EU)!
9 (yes, nine) starters plus Mojo as pace car meant a rather full looking grid for Race 5 @ Monza.

Race start was delayed firstly by myself after i needed a PS3 update...zzzzz.
Then there was the usual connection problems where i couldn't see Goruk and he couldn't see me, while Godoias was being randomly disconnected. This was in the open, lounge room which SymP was hosting.

After a few unsuccessfull attempts a rearly gave-up on the whole thing. Sent a message to SymP saying to try 1 time in a fixed, lobby room and if it didn't work then i would leave and have to pass the group on to someone else.

This seemed to appease the GT Gods (or maybe the Monkey?) because, everyone got connected to that room. Very little lag. We even managed to get Nicnew (who couldnt make the 9pm start) and new_soul (who couldnt find the first room) to join and start the race.

We also figured out how to set the grid up. Mojo used 'watch race' to get everyones fastest lap time. It might need some refining but, for the quick solution to the problem it worked quite well. My brain is already in overdrive with a more complete solution. Details to come. :)

Anyway the race got underway with 10 cars on the track after a re-start (started the first race without Mojo the pace car).

Was sad to see that Minardi had to leave so soon. Had the same thing happen to me a couple of weeks back. Very anoying but kids generally dont want to sleep when you have time to yourself.

Also sorry to see Hura(dont have the rest of his PSN as i only noted down a short version) who had to leave at about lap 25 to got to work. A victim of the connections delay, for which i apolagise.

Cant wait to see the replay because the race was excellent. Some great driving by all. Wont spoil it by giving the results and times now. Should have a report and pictures up, if not tomorrow, then Tuesday.

JT

ps. Updated the rest of the race schedule with times and dates. See here for info
