DubstepMusic

My fellow dubstep producer friend looks exactly like Benga, but, with an even more epic afro. Epic afro is epic.

Anyways, I'm curious: do people think this counts as dubstep? It's Proofsound - Tears of Juno, from Soundcloud.

Thing is, I like the tune, and the drums, but, there isn't really a bass patch worth mentioning. But, I think (?) it's at about 140 BPM, and has a lot of syncopation. (In Layman's terms, the drums sound like dubstep, but there's no bass.)

And, this is something more traditional; Ed Sheeran - The A Team (KOAN Sound remix.)

Basically, after listening to a lot of Asa at work, including (especially) his work with KOAN Sound, called "Raw Tones" is making me think more and more of KOAN Sound.

And, someone definitely mentioned Benga. Unfortunately, the Benga song I prefer is sorta against AUP. (called "Smack Your 🤬 Up")

funny you should say that, i rocked an afro too a few years back, that was before i got involved with music, my haircut's more Breakage right now.

i wouldn't call that tune you posted dubstep, it just doesn't feel like it, rather it sounds somewhat cinematic, like a piece for a movie trailer or something.

I don't really think the word bitch is that big of a deal (hopefully), how are you supposed to call a female dog then? :v

Don't take offence, but that benga tune you posted is pretty bad, i wonder what happened to him, it's like he forgot to produce, once he got famous, i didn't like any of his tune since 2011, wish he'd make more stuff like this

I never followed his music, until SYBU. Then, I stopped again, as I found myself going for some more underground/chillstep stuff, rather than the heaviest dubstep.

I mean, who would, normally, expect some underground dubstep to be this heavy?

Warning: it will kill your speakers, and the bass isn't mixed very well (again, one guy made this in his basement bedroom, (duh).) So, it clips and everything.

But, the theory behind the song is still okay.

that is pretty sh--, not even heavy, no bassweight, cheap wobbles, and the production value is very low. just no. It just sounds like someone who watched a filthy dubstep wobble tutorial on youtube and went from there.

It doesn't have anything to do with him producing in his bedroom, i know loads of sick producers who produce in their rooms, are this thing has nothing on it, trust me

and duh, yes 'underground' dubstep IS heavy as in it has loads of weight which a lot of new producers forget, dubstep is meant to shake your chest, not rape your ears.
But yes of course, there is good tearout stuff.

Point remains, though it's achieved differently.

This is why I prefer Stumbleine, Asa, CoMa, Jernalism, and most of the underground scene that actually knows what they're doing.

However, I will admit, that, before I got good speakers (i.e., when every song sounded like crap) I did like that 2itch song. Now, though, my Marley headphones have changed my opinion, drastically.

To anyone who is looking for some "chill" dubstep, I HIGHLY recommend you search Blackmill on YouTube. He makes some incredible songs like Friend, Miracle, Don't Let Me Down (although that's drum & bass), and plenty of other amazing tracks. I would have bought a couple albums from him, but iTunes is giving me trouble >.<

Ohhhh Yeaahhhh! I remember seeing that name on Wiki! He makes some good stuff.

Blackmill's so overrated. In my opinion, it's easy to find good chillstep. Stumbleine (click the "and then I've got to breathe") does awesome stuff, too, but, only with the best speakers to hear the bass.

CoMa basically does all of the chillstep worth mentioning.

And, for those of you who like some heavy chillstep, Sorrow's song "Sleepless Night," and "Perfect Sky" by Ghosts of Paraguay are just awesome.

Sorry for no links, I'm on mobile.

Callmedan, it's great to hear about other chillstep fans here, but, Blackmill isn't as epic. His beats, rhythms, and melodies are a bit repetitive. :(

Edit: Sizzlebird is also amazing.

But isn't all dubstep repetitive? ZING!

Not at all. I really prefer Sorrow, Owsey, Sizzlebird, CoMa, Jernalism, Arkasia, Mr. Fijiwiji and a few others. Their music is really different.

And, Phaeleh and Asa both do some good music, though it's not always chillstep. Phaeleh's "Cold in You" is incredible.

See, I meant chillstep. Underground dubstep... I'm not as interested as chillstep. I'd listen to it, but, not as happily. Dubstep is an easy genre of music to make, but, the underground scene seems more obsessed with making it sound loud and screechy than smooth. :(

Ohhhhhh jeeeeeez I remember listening to a Dubstep song and I found this guy called Kromestar. He makes chill not too slow but PEREFECT
Dubstep.

I never understood the love behind this music....

Here's what I'd do if I were you. I used to listen to metal too n' stuff.

I'd first start off with fast music, such drum and bass, and then to dubstep.

I'd start with some Pendulum. They use actual drums and guitars at times, hooked up to a synth. This will get you used to the whole electronic synth music idea, as it is also similar to metal rock in terms of tempo and weight:

Then, if you like it, move to this. This will help you adapt to the whole "drop the bass" idea.:

Once you have listened to those and a few others from your own adventuring, I would take a listen to this. The most generic and sterotypical version of dubstep.:

One you listened to this and you don't find it too bad, explore! Find something you like, listen to some BBC 1Xtra mixes and shows.. music is all about sharing art.

Its the rhythm and the synthesizers that make it so good. Its juicy, its full, the rhythm is amazing.. the sound is just amazing. Not comparable to metal/rock/alternative whatsoever.
