Austin issued an apology on facebook owning up to the incident with Welch.

I think him and Welch are pretty good friends so I was a bit worried about them coming together. At least they've seemed friendly in the paddock in the past.

Seems Austin got penalty points for it (plus exclusion):

Its nice to see the stewards are being pretty heavy with the penalties. Does anyone know when Plato's license points expire? Any more contact like what he did to Andrew Jordan and he's looking at a suspended license if I remember right.

I was watching from Copse on Sunday, pretty entertaining racing. Porches were a bit rubbish in the support races but the Clios and Ginnetas were entertaining. Formula renault race was scary to watch when they lack the "1 move to defend" rule like F1.

Don't buy from Austin everything he touches breaks .

78, after naming most of the front-runners, it was really just guessing the numerous independents. I was basing a lot of it off names I remember Murray Walker shouting haha.
It also helps that I've watched a lot of the 1990-1999 seasons a few months ago on Youtube. You don't forget a name like Hamish Irvine very quickly!

No way was I going to get all 144...seeing as every man and his dog was driving in 1990 thanks to those odd "endurance" events.

I think the highest profile driver I missed was Stig Blomqvist..but in terms of BTCC I don't think I really missed any big touring car names.

I got all the works drivers except Gianni Morbidelli and Steve Robertson.

Naming those independents is hard!

To be fair there are a lot of independents that only ran 1 race or less. Like I say, the endurance events in 1990 don't help.

Me want ...

I can't believe RML designed it then decided not to run it :boggled:.

Can't wait to see that out on track :D.

RML didn't "decide" not to run it. Chevrolet basically pulled the funds by the sounds of it. Not to mention MacDowall was presumably heading for WTCC anyway and he brought a fair bit of cash.
Or perhaps Chevrolet weren't willing to spend the money going for NGTC - perhaps they are happy enough just spending a bit on their S2000 WTCC cars instead.

If someone brought enough money to RML, I'm sure they would run in BTCC again.

Formula Ford on BTCC bill from next season.

Its not a proper BTCC card without an open-wheel series!

I can't wait to see Formula Ford around Knockhill!

I'd say it was because they are having a lot more success in WTCC, as there is only 4 types of cars, wheres BTCC has a lot more and a lot more talent in my opinion in the grid, so they weren't going to do as well as they are doing in WTCC (which they are dominating yet again this year)

Also don't know if anyone knew but the Golf is for sale right now http://www.racecarsdirect.com/listing/44937/btcc_s2000_vw_golf_ngtc_2_0_turbo.html, and after Brands rounds AMD are selling it - so there may be a Golf NGTC or AMD are pulling out with the Golf? Either way someone could buy it

Shaun has made noises that suggest they're going NGTC, but we can never know till the first race grid.
Remember when Matt Hamilton was going to turn up this year an NGTC Skoda?

Oh yeah what happened to that....

Any news on Thorney's plans? Insignia disappearing end of season or keeping on?

No for sure they might pull out of the BTCC but still a chance

Yeah was a bit sad, what did happen to the Skoda and the team?? Was looking forward to seeing it, we own a Skoda VRS so would of supported them but they never showed :(

Edit: Rob Austin has also painted his Audi yellow now :embarrassed: And says he's got some "exciting news" so I think he may have a good solid backing from a company :D

As I posted on RAR Facebook, Dunlop? Dewalt?

No idea - but whenever I think of yellow and Audi reminds my of the Audis in the 80's rally when they ran Yellow/black colour scheme

Anyway I hope it is good news, Rob has had a lot of bad luck with the engines mostly and lack of money so I hope he can make a full charge for the title in 2013 :)

Money didn't come together, same old story.

Thorney is still planning on constructing 4 cars for next season - trying to run 2 himself and sell/help run 2 more...or just sell and help run 4 cars for customers.
To be honest, after seeing Stockton jump ship so quick and Gilham struggle around at Silverstone...one wonders whether anyone really wants to do business with Thorney. And thats ignoring his already bad reputation on the internets.
It looked decent-ish at Snetterton but really that car looks like it needs a serious race team to have a go with it. Thorney seems to be too under-funded to do anything with it.

As I posted on RAR Facebook, Dunlop? Dewalt?

I reckon Dunlop by the black stripe on the middle of the car. Maybe Karcher have jumped ship from Thorney?

Its great to seem him get some proper sponsorship at last!

you can see that any time on motors tv and rar wouldnt be dunlop as they supply that tyres for all teams so it wouldnt be fair.

Yeah but on a BTCC bill FF should increase in profile. Honestly no idea about sponsor.. maybe Rockstar Energy Drinks? (Probably ridiculous I know...)

Ah ok watching too many US Rallycross races haha :D Only other brand I think of is JCB - but then why would they sponsor him?

So they have someone to haul out the gravel trap?

JCB or CAT would work for Chris James though really.

Yeah haha  Well I hope it helps RAR, however the company is, going to be weird not seeing Rob driving a white Audi.
