And to complete the trinity, can you name the teams which secured the drivers championships of the supertouring era? It's a little bit tougher. Non-sponsored team names, and no acronyms.

It's been a slow night. Sporcle is so addictive.

Right then, who's wanting who to take the title this weekend?

I'm hoping Sheddon takes it, he's worked hard for it this year, and last year too!

For independants, it has to be Andrew Jordan

Sheddon should win it - he had a horrible start to the season at Brands, and he's now leading! He's a great guy and really hope he does win :)

I'd like to see Shedden take the title and Collard for the independents.

Both have been in BTCC for ages now and both deserve a title finally because they're driving brilliantly this year.

I don't say Andrew Jordan as I feel he's been a bit too ragged again this year after his relatively smooth 2010 and 2011. I think he'll get plenty of chances at the title in future.

I wouldn't mind Jordan taking the indy title though as he is fast and does deserve the success.

Plato or Neal taking the title is only good if they are both racing wheel to wheel for the title - only because it guarantees a controversial accident and plenty of drama.
If one or the other retires or goes completely out of it, its not really fun for the other take the title as we don't get the drama of their combat but all of their ego.

However, at least the rising tension of Neal and Plato being close together on track with a title on the line is definitely going to be there. Even though I hate their dirty antics, I have to admit I do enjoy the ridiculous drama they generate when they start hitting each other.
Maybe its because I like seeing them screw themselves over by going for petty revenge. Kind of like Plato versus Muller, or Thompson...or hell Plato versus any driver willing to give it back.

Also, there's meant to be an imminent Thorney announcement..and here's a picture from Gilham's garage:

And Team HARD have purchased two Vauxhall Insignia's, Tony Gilham to drive one at Brands. Obviously he did some business with Thorney...

Wow indeed. Shameless re-post

Loving both cars! Rob Austin just needs a bit more pace, and car control lol!

Obviously Tony's few stints in the Thorney Motorsport Insignia have given him some idea's for next season. Will be interesting to see what he can do that John Thorne couldn't

Pace is there in Rob's - 17th to 5th Silverstone race 1, so good speed :)

There's going to be 2 more Insignia's on the grid next year, John Thorne has a "big sponsor" and has confirmed he'll be racing with two brand new Insignia- beat that won't work out well but is interesting as to whom the 2nd driver will be

Probably James Thompson. He likes obscure mediocre cars ~cough WTCC Lada~ (no offence)...

Be great to see someone like Thommo back..

Hold on. Just realised, didn't JT do some testing for Team HARD this year? He did a test for somebody...

Was for Tony Hughes - remember that

I don't think James would return but would be nice to see him

Best driver to take it could be Paul O'neill - done some impressive drivers this year

More likely an unknown driver like when Rob Hedley was meant to be driving for them (and Mark Hazell was meant to be driving for Austin this season).

Also bear in mind that Thorney had the whole "big sponsor" thing before Snetterton and all it was was Karcher sponsoring them for two odd rounds with Gilham/Stockton driving. It wasn't really as big as it seemed in the end.
So I wouldn't believe he has a hefty budget yet until he lines up on the grid.

But I too hope drivers like Thompson, Turkington, O'Neill, Giovanardi, etc manage to get seats if some of these teams really do secure some serious funds.

No arguing with that. But Neate brings a lot of money. RML had a similar setup with MacDowall bringing the cash.
I do wonder how much they really pay Plato..but honestly he's probably the best value for money in this grid as he is guaranteed to take race wins in anything you put him in.

It would be nice to see 888 hire Giovanardi for old times sake but I doubt whether Plato would be happy with that.

This week-end is near, I hope Plato gonna get the title. Crossing fingers. Even if Shedden seems in quite a good shape. Any news on Turbo boost for the Honda boys ?

Well in theory the Honda's should get a slight increase in boost due to their results at Silverstone.
That combined with Brands being more of a twisty circuit should give Shedden a pretty good chance.

The interesting part is that Plato pretty much owns this track lately and that MG is bloody quick.

As I said earlier, I'm just waiting for the inevitable moment where Plato and Neal are fighting for the same piece of track. You know its going to end in drama.

Yeah lol, even if Jason said on last race interview that he was hoping for a clean fight between him, Neal and Shedden, I dont really believe it, they always seems to end up bumping each others.

I would LOVE to see Plato and Neal in a demolition derby style season end collision! Even better will be if it's all to play for going into race 3, and get Sheddon in on the action. See who is most ruthless :-p a repeat of Neal and Plato coming together like in the pitlane last year would be epic. Fisticuffs as the credits start rolling haha

Blimey, Austin's new Audi looks more like a NASCAR. Quite an eye-catching livery.

As for this weekend, I'd like to see Shedden get the title and Collard get the indy title.

Personally, I'd like to see a clean last few races - Plato and Neal are capable of racing cleanly against each other, and there'd be few better ways to end the season than to see some close racing between the two of them. Perhaps it may end in tears eventually, but I'd like to at least see them attempt to race without crashing the other off.

For God's sake Barry, tell him to stop it!

I'm rooting for Shedden this weekend... he's driven brilliantly all year and he deserves a title after coming so close last year... it'd be a disaster if he became the next Anthony Reid.

Having said that, I can see Plato getting very close.

Round 30, Shedden Vs Plato for the title :)

TBH, Chris James managed to score points at Silverstone too, so it's not a true indicator of ability. ;)

Well in most races Chris James is normally 10-12 places behind his team mate, so if Dave is in 2nd/3rd than Chris is normally 12th-17th :P
