E3 2011: What Are You Expecting? [56k BEWARE!!!]

So maybe PD could be the "TBA Sony" spot for tomorrow or possibly one of the super secret sequels for day after tomorrow. I'm keeping my fingers crossed :)

Wifi Vita - $249 as predicted.
3G Vita - $299 as predicted as well.
Solid pricing choices I think.

Now Tretton is back with...?

$250!? Even the guy with holding the camera is clapping. That undercuts my estimate by $30.
And the one that no one in the country will buy will "only" cost $50 more![/sarcasm]

Problem, Nintendo?

Is anything going to happen after this guy finishes his DJ set or is that really it? Was a good conference but nothing really surprising, more exclusive content from 3rd party games was good. Looking forward to Nintendo tomorrow.

What are we talking about here, the 3DS?

Sony is trolling,250 for the vita is just impossible, the processor cost, the double screen and the touch, what is that thing made of?

 what's with the scantily clad chick just standing there posing on the side of the stage?

Most unexpected press conference conclusion I've ever seen. At least MixMaster seems to be enjoying himself... on speed perhaps?

There were rumors that the NGP prototype specs were toned down for the production model to reduce the cost and also make the battery last longer. As it stands we don't know the final specs of what we just saw on stage, I wouldn't be surprised if its lost a core or something

Even the side reporters were not certain if the conference was over yet or not! oh man, too funny.

I know, but I also saw the lighting engine of uncharted,Is not possible I mean:

>2 cameras
>The network card
>2 touch screens
>the main cell and the other processors

I known that costs can be reduced when the disk reading drive is removed, but still...:nervous:

Well the price will also be to do with the temporary loss leading concept like other consoles, it will cost less to buy than produce initially and the expensive games will eventually bring the system into profit. I expect the games to be more expensive this time because they use flash media and we all know how expensive 'cartridge' media is compared to optical ones.

Its kind of a MS so the price might get high for the games, still,I just feel sorry for the people who bought the 3DS

You know, people said that exact same thing when the PSP was announced; with it being the only possible contender to end Nintendo's reign in the handheld market. I don't care much for handhelds from either side if I'm to be honest...but we've already seen what happens when someone attempts to overthrow Nintendo with a handheld that's more powerful.

It doesn't sell as well as everyone thought it would.

Vita might be different but if history is anything to go by, it won't be.

PSP didn't cost less than the price of the PS2,besides,western market is just half of the story, look at the PSP in Japan and you will known what Impact it will have in the upcoming years.

One specific market doesn't matter as there's always going to be better adoption in X as opposed to Y. In the grand scheme of things it's worldwide adoption that matters, and the PSP is nowhere near the sales of the DS. The DS is second only to the PS2 in terms of units sold worldwide...and it may even surpass that.

If you follow that logic then the 360 would be a complete failure, looking at its impact in Asian markets and compared to other consoles worldwide sales,as you accurately just said.

I don't think we can assume that the 3DS/PSP2 battle is going to end up the same way as the PSP/DS battle just because. There are quite a few differences between the two situations that should be examined more thoroughly.

I suspect (and its only my prediction) that the 3DS wont be able to co exist with the NGP like the DS/PSP did because unlike back then when they both appealed to different age groups and gamer types this time they have blurred the lines are similar machines going after a broad spectrum of people.

DS had motion, touch, simple graphics and was more aimed at casual gamers. PSP had traditional controls, more tech, good graphics and was for hardcore gamers.

Now the 3DS and NGP both have motion, touch, decent graphics (nin has the 3d selling point) and are both trying to capture the casual and hardcore market. Because they are the same price and the NGP looks miles more advanced and yet does all the things the 3DS does it could be curtains unless Nintendo pull out something amazing tomorrow.

It's been known for years the 360 hasn't penetrated that market well at all. I don't even know why you brought that up.

Just caught onto the second half, you realize the 360 is in second place, right? It's sold 55 million worldwide; the PS3 would be the failure in your example.

I'm not discounting Vita at all. I'm only saying that if history is anything to by, it's going to take more than something that's slightly advanced to unhinge the grasp Nintendo has on the handheld scene. Truth be told if Vita does threaten Ninty to the point where they start dropping prices...that's a good thing. It means they'll retaliate with something better. Rinse and repeat.

To me, it looks like a Go with a touch pad tacked on the back. Of course I'm a bit bitter from owning a PSP and finding it to be a complete waste of money...so here, my opinion doesn't matter as I'm biased.

and that.

Am I the only that wasn't really all that impressed with the conferences so far (except for Ubisoft with the hilarious "if it were made at this time" segments ). Some games were interesting sure but overall, I hate the big push for motion gaming. I don't even know why I wanted to watch the Microsoft conference knowing full well they would have things just as rediculous as skittles :ill: Screw Kinect. Forza 4, A trailer with Kanye West Music and no gameplay footage at all..not impressed. Sony conference was meh, though I applaud them for immediately acknowledging the PSN outtage. I'm still in stitches at Jack Tretton refering to the 2006 press conference
Overall, I'm very interested in the VITA now. Graphically, looks almost as good as PS3 from what I've seen and I love the idea of saving a game from there and continuing from where you left off on the PS3. Oh and by the way, Screw Move.

And seriously, whats with all the "I hope PD says something about GT at E3" comments? Why would they? GT5 is out and its in dire need of being fixed, what possibly could they announce regarding GT? I'm sorry people but until GT6 does actually have work begun on it, GT's Hype train for E3 is dead and done. No reason to stick around for it.

Anyhow, back on topic: In my mind, Ubisoft was actually the most interesting. I know most of you thought it looked silly, but I found it far more interesting then the Microsoft and Sony ones. I can now laugh at the morons on facebook posting pictures from Kinect  Oh and umm..Did I ever tell you the definition..of insanity? :D

PD does more than just GT you know. There are many fans of Tourist trophy that would love a new game. There could be a reboot of MotorToon or dare I say Omega Boost.

MS's conference was not so surprising. I'm not a fan of Halo or Gears so I was left with nothing. I already know the only 360 game I'll be buying it FM4. And I do not care for 100mill polygon showroom models. I just want to see the F40 without a 2d engine bay.

Sony's was ok but the kicker was the price reveal of Vita. Going to reserve it asap and pay in full. They did show that PS Move is for real games aside from that awkward NBA 2K12 piece.

I'm going to assume everyone will declare Nin the winner again even though I was not impressed by the 3DS last year or even now. Their New system will probably wow everyone just like the 3ds did(except me).

Uncharted,Ressistance,BF3,MW3,Driver SF(yes go check it out)and The Run.Are what caught the eye :D

Thing is, these other people don't seem to be aware of that. Look in the GT5 news thread (and for that matter. all over the net) and you got people so badly hoping that GT is at E3 when there is no reason to.

Honestly, this new console is the only thing I'm even interested in. Otherwise, it'll probably be a yawnfest again.

And T12, you'll be happy to know Olivia Munn is gone...like, completely. She's even been replaced on AOTS. And the E3 coverage on G4 is far better then it was last year.
