EA Sports WRC: General Discussion

I like what I'm hearing and seeing, watched a fair few videos now from a variety of creators and I think from what I know of them I have a good idea what to expect. If the physics are DR2+ then that's great for me, I loved DR2 and how it felt so if it feels like that with a bit more weight and inertia, better tarmac driving, I will be in a very happy place for a very long time.

The stages look great as well, I didn't want to watch too much various stage footage as I kind of want to experience them myself when I play, but I have seen some Estonia, Monte, Kenya and Japan. Kenya looks exactly what I wanted it to look like in the KT games, rough, rutted, potholed, hard. Estonia looks extremely fast, environment looks really detailed with lots of thick foliage. Monte looks like it has some incredible sections, a much better representation of the real rally with the tight mountain sections but also some incredibly fast moments as well. Japan we have seen a few times of course, and it looks very, very good, lots of very technical and narrow moments. So I'm very excited to see more.

My final thought on the footage is, holy cow it sounds good. Every car I have seen footage of, sounds phenomenal, loads of character and dynamism.

Couple of stills from Traxxions gameplay.

I’m really impressed with the environments so far, nice amount of detail in them.
Enjoying the water on the windscreen detail, and it running along the side window, especially compared to the new Forza which in cockpit view seems to solely use the colour white and don't really go far when the wipers move. Yet WRC seems to be the target of a lot of people with issues about the graphics in the comments..

You must know something I don't mate.

Here's hopin' it's supported!

No 😬. I was expecting one of the creators with a decent wheel setup to talk about it but none of them did. So far anyway.

The review from Jimmy Broadbent sold me on this game. That grinn.

Yeah he looked like he was enjoying it quite a lot. I’m glad he didn’t just say tarmac was improved and highlighted that it isn’t perfect. Definitely an improvement but still areas to work on.

His Astra footage looked a lot more planted than from the Traxxion footage though.

Have to invest in a separate handbrake now..
I said the same thing

Managed to confuse myself and still unsure if it is even possible with my set up on PS5, even if it is the handbrake on its own is very expensive!

Think I might have to stick to mapping it to a button on the steering wheel like I have done before, quite awkward though.

Ha! Thanks man.

Yeah, I've probably been doing what you've been doing - looking out for someone with a G Pro setup to play / review the game.

As a Twingo 2 enthusiast, it’s great to see the model has been done extremely well, little details like the way the wider body kit is attached looks correct, the lip around the faux diffuser, the rear wiper bung style, the way the spoiler sits on the roof. All spot on, well done Codemasters.

Slightly different angle but this is my last Twingo RS, can see so many of the subtle curves and joins are spot on.

Same for me. Only diubt is that i do not have the hand brake. How do u do? In dirt rall is in r2 button but is not that great
I got used to r2. I don’t have the space for the handbrake. I have a playseat challenge (the one you can fold) and the t300 Ferrari gte version.

Ok, decided to do some changes on my preliminary list for my video, and this will be probably stick:

Montecarlo: Volkswagen Polo 2017 (Dirt Rally 1)
Sweden: Opel Adam R2 (Dirt 4)
Mexico: Hillman Avenger (New Car)
Croatia: McRae R4 (CMR Dirt 2)
Portugal: Ford Fiesta Rally3 (New car)
Sardegna: Fiat Grande Punto Abarth (CMR Dirt)
Kenya: Seat Cordoba (CMR 2.0)
Estonia: Vauxhall Nova Sport (New car)
Finland: Subaru Impreza 1995 (Dirt 3)
Greece: MG Metro (CMR 2005)
Chile: Hyundai i20 Rally1 HYBRID (New car)
Japan: Lancia 037 (CMR 4)
Mediterraneo: Peugeot 309 GTI (New car)
Pacifico: Renault Maxi Megane (CMR 1)
Oceania: BMW M3 (Dirt Rally 2.0)
Scandia: Skoda Fabia R5 (Dirt 5)
Iberia: Citroen Saxo (CMR 3)

Mainly switching to the Hillman instead of the Talbot and changed position for the rest of the (New Car) :P

Are you going to do a video comparison with the old games?

Being Corsica in CMR 1.0 you can use the subaru 98 (it’ on the back of the cover on the original disc for ps1 with a screen in Corsica. I have it in my hands now) for mediterraneo.

Oceania is new zealand i would use again CMR1. New Zealand was the first rally.

Like I said before: only 1 throwback for game and no repeat manufacturers, with the new cars filling the voids  And no video comparisation, I don't have the ability and instruments for that

I extracted the long stages from each rally (which are the ones that count for unique km). It comes out to 1,035.4km counting the reversed versions. That is only 518km when excluding the reverse versions, so I think I am missing something because it's 82km short of the 600km mark.

In some of the locations (Corsica/Mediterraneo is one example) it is hard to identify where some of the smaller stages fit in to the long ones, so it's very possible I overlooked some km somewhere.

I don't think the little side roads (like in El Chocolate) would make up the missing 82km, so I must have overlooked a couple stages here and there. Also, I don't really know how to count the mirrored stages at all. I wouldn't count them as unique km, but they are kind of unique in that left turns become right, and vice versa.
