I have the same problem, 56 years old 😃 and not playing as often as I would like.
It’s nice to see that these games are appealing to all generations. My dad preordered this game (big deal for him, he never preorders), he’s in his 60s, put 300 hours into generations and is loving this new one.

Shows the range of people this game needs to appeal to.

I said that DR 2.0 seemed much superior to this WRC. The thing is, I have to rectify my opinion because 4WD cars feel incredible. The WRC1s are amazing to drive. I've only tried a RWD Alpine, and that one does seem strange to drive. And the Talbot does not allow rear skids xD, or maybe it's me. This studio is always evolving and improving itself... I have no idea what next year's game will be like, but it is becoming more and more realistic like F1. There will come a time when the degree of simulation will be very great.

I know a DR and DR 2.0 player who is 76 years old. He played without help, with a steering wheel and a cockpit view. He left last year at 75 years old due to bone problems. Love the Codemasters studio. It always seemed to them to be the most realistic study in rally matters.

Still ploughing through career mode and there's no let up in sight. J. Creighton (who I'm guessing is supposed to be William Creighton) is doing better and better in each event and is a tough opponent.

Am I the only person who sometimes likes to plough into the marshals at the end of stages and pretend I'm scattering them like nine pins?
Do it every time :) It's much easier in WRC2023. In DR 2.0 you had to bash your car up pretty bad so that it would fail to stop for Frank Lampard and his annoying mate Baldilocks (and his twin brother). I usually let Mr Bobblehat off cos he looked like a nice guy.

Someone uploaded this on Racedepartment:

Basically different engine.ini tweaks, also some exposure adjustments it seems. Tried this on my ongoing career mode event in Sweden and the game does seem to run better with less stutter and not as overexposed/washed out in daytime snow event(maybe a bit dark now, so I actually crank the exposure back up a bit).
FYI if anyone uses third party modifications they waive their right to any official support from EA, as EA can’t endorse, security check or verify any mods.

Basically, use at your own risk.

My recommendation would be to wait for the next official patch first before considering this workaround.

I had my first encounter with really late co-driver calls in the Sardegna rally. A few times I simply couldn't respond in time despite my fairly pedestrian speeds...

So I'm now thinking that the complaints of late calls are rally specific, not generic?

I alternate between trying to stop just before their toes as a personal challenge, and alternately going flat out with a handbrake turn to wipe out as many in one hit as feasible (which obvs just resets the car - but the intent is hugely satisfying 🤣)

Glad to see I’m not the only one who names their co-driver their real name.
I can't find any way to customise the co-driver model so using Kirsty's voice would require a certain amount of mental disconnect on my part.

That car is such a difficult one to navigate. Slightest touch on the gas in the corner and she turns into a widowmaker. Hard as nuts....
It is absolutely mental how easily the back kicks from out under you.

Just finished that one, and oh boy did it take many retries to get that monster to the finish line. I was afraid to press the pedal even the slightest in corners, and even then the car felt like a slight elevation during corner could wipe you out.

Managed a 4:23.77 in the end.

Nice time. I managed it on the first go but it was only a 4:53.2

4:58.436 for me but I was slowing down to a crawl before every corner. I'd have to wait for time trial to make any improvements. Right now I'm just glad to get a gold.

So I unknowingly did my first regularity rally in career. Now to each his own of course but who in their right mind enjoys this lol :D
If I want to go for a leisurely stroll I'll just get in an actual car and drive.

Hopefully it's optional..

I'll just leave this here ;)

Throttle control
This.
Also on some snappier cars I fiddle around with the steering linearity setting.
When set to negative, It's easier to catch a snap, but it also makes the car twitchier around the center of steering.

I though it was compulsory especially as the auto brake option for the end of stage doesn't seem to do much...

I miss Baldilocks :(

I managed a 04:14:600 on the Renault 5 Turbo at Monte. I lowered the diff a bit to make it a bit more manageable. I find the RWD cars way easier on the loose surfaces as things happen more gradually and there is less sudden loss or regaining of grip.
