With all the issues it's had I'm kinda thinking another new game this year is unlikely but hey we'll see. I'd certainly rather they continued to build on this as a foundation for the next year or two than release a whole new game. But the licensing situation will be king I guess. If I had to guess right now I don't think it'll be a yearly release, at least not yet.

Heres some basic maths.

20 odd mile stage in time trial nets you about 2000xp. So maybe 100xp per mile? Gold in a moment is worth 400xp. Winning a race or championship or anything gives no bonus. No bonus for difficulty or damage settings or anything. Just mileage.
You need about 100,000xp to go from 16 to 17. I dont know exact numbers because it doesnt tell you all i know is 2000 xp barely makes the meter budge. God knows how many xp it is from 16 to 20.

I'm going mad trying to level up now. It's now an obsession. There is no game, there is only xp.
10 days. Level 16.
If I don't sleep, don't eat, take no toilet breaks, dont work, dont socialise, nothing, just continuously drive and drive and drive
I might, at best, get some horrible green and blue camouflage gloves in ten days time..

Edit: Just realised I won't even get those horrible gloves because I don't have ea play.

To be honest, I'd be happy with a skin pack and some performance optimisation for 2024 - let the dev team continue working on wholesale improvements for 2025.

While I would love constant patches, they take a lot of development and testing time that could be better spent developing material improvements.

I ran the very long Pacifico stage re the Dirty Daily club yesterday, which got me enough XP to go from level 5 to 6. I've got a week to try to get 9, 10 or 12 where the 3 new racing suits are unlocked. Don't think I'll have time to play enough this week though.

I'm basically ignoring the Moments at the moment as they don't seem to get you much XP unless you Gold them (which in my case is unlikely on most occasions). I do sometimes feel like the game is a bit unbalanced, to get the XP it feels like you have to focus on certain things and ignore others unless you play the game a lot (which I don't, I have limited game time and other games to play as well as this)

There's a guide on Reddit to maximising XP, it's very thorough.

I found that guide on Reddit, thanks @PJTierney and used the following to get about 800 XP per race. The stage takes less than 3 minutes and even I can beat level 71!

Edit: Got my first figure wrong. You can do at least 15 in an hour and get about 12,000.

Best method is the most painfully boring one.

16 stage championship.
1 stage in Oceania, Taipuha for each round.
Do the <30 second shakedown jumping the start to save time. Retire from event, move on to next and repeat.
Takes about 25 minutes of spamming the menus. Get upwards of 6000xp at the end.

Bare in mind if you were to do this from level 0 to 20 it'd take about 15 solid hours of spamming.
Really goes to show how much you have to play this game to get to max level. Even max levels of efficiency spamming and grinding will still take 15 whole hours. Hopefully next season gets adjusted significantly cause I don't wanna get sick of the game by overplaying it never mind grinding and spamming menus 😂 (F1s "pit pass" was not nearly as grindy as this from my memory, casual play was enough to get to max level)

I've got to level 18 and did not receive my horrible green gloves as planned, only started spamming the taphua grindy, soul destroying, button mashing spam method this evening. Maybe a few more hours of self inflicted torture in the next week and I might get to the promised land of level 20 before I start again for season 3

Can I also note this too about unlockable liveries. Allow me one more rant.

How the unlockable liveries are only for the 3 wrc cars and uncustomisable is a huge dropping of the ball I think.
It's like they don't want us using the livery editor or messing about with builder cars. Why put the whole option in the game if you're not gonna utilise it?

At the very least they should have these liveries as "paint pattern" options for builder cars. Support your features lads. While you're at it throw in more body part options too. Plus maybe an option for short/medium/long wheelbase, 3 or 5 door option, maybe even a sedan option instead of a hatchback. Sky's the limit. And please god add in the option for user made decals 🙏
I'd love to see this feature being utilised more. A good 80% of my time in gran turismo was spent customising cars, can only imagine if this was anywhere similar especially with builder cars. Such a cool but mostly as shallow as a kiddy pool feature at the moment.

I've little interest in the in-game cosmetics but just thought I'd try it out as @sirjim73 asked about it. I've never really been bitten by the FOMO or collecting bug (except FM7 Driver Gear ).

Same here. But I wouldnt at all be suprised if this is just a small step into an increasingly intruisive mtx programme... Gran Turismo is at this point unplayable for me. For several reasons but the grind for cars is way up there. I dont mind too much as there are plenty of other games out there. But if more and more (racing) games go this way and they put increasingly more worthwile content behind season passes and grinding etc. it can become a big problem..

It disappears into the background for me, I kind of forget it's there really. Fortunately there's nothing of real value within the passes so it's never been something I've focused on. With things like Gran Turismo, it affected the overall gameplay loop and enjoyment, funneling you towards spending real money in the game. I think with EA, EA SPORTS FC and ultimate team distorts the view point of EA and MTX because it's such a huge beast. Elsewhere they really aren't as bad as they get made out, everything else is almost always limited to cosmetics and when it wasn't (battlefront 2) and backlash and subsequent U turn was, firstly, massively damaging to them, but also showed a change in philosophy afterwards.

With WRC, being quite a niche thing in the grand scheme of things, I can't see any kind of MTX program working. It is the wrong type of game for it to be required or to work and the fanbase would reject in strongly enough for it to never be viable.

This might be due to the WRC license and nothing to do with EA/Codemasters. They might ONLY be allowed to use those liveries on WRC cars.

Don't mention FM7 Driver Gear
I've got one left to buy (Jack Rabbit). First thing I check when i switch on, then wait 6 minutes for the rotation before I even play any game  I even leave I open while i do my chores hoping it comes round... 🤪

PS I'm now at level 7 on EA WRC. First suit unlock at 9.

Question for :gtpflag: : are the unlocks the same for everyone? I have suits unlocking at level 9, 11 and 12. After that it's just gloves, caps etc which I'm not bothered about.

I have access to the passes and its contents but like others I don't find myself using or being that fussed about any of it. I force my self to unlock everything out of Completions sake but I would much rather actual DLC content and additions to the game. Sadly a lot of people don't seem to like the idea of purchasing DLC these days which has seemed to necessitate these Rocket League/Fortnite style content passes that add little substance to the game.

I love a good old chunky DLC addition to a game that I love and play a lot. It's worth paying for in my opinion. Art Of Rally got it right with the Australia DLC. New location and 4 new cars. If only that was a tri-monthly occurance with EAWRC. Oh how we would be spoiled... 🤤

Nah, I can see why they went the other way with this game. If they introduced new courses as DLC the whining would be heard from Pluto.

Yeah I guess, With new locations it is awkward due to gating people into certain events Etc.

I'd settle for new cars and or new real life liveries however...

Funnily enough the new trailer for Season 3 just dropped 😊

"Chile - Addressed a number of areas in which framerate would drop significantly.
Just in time for the 1995 Modern Classics Club :D. Glad to see all the performance improvements in general, hopefully I can finally start cranking up settings.

Small change but really happy to see this too:
Adjusted Moments carousel so that new events now appear at the far left of the list instead of the far right.

I can see this too, but if after season 5 it does go bigger and better rewards other than a few stickers and a new helmet I would quite happily pay for the likes of rally Scotland or Wales once you reach 20xp. At the moment the game is quite generous with things to do and we'll worth the 45 pounds I paid for, bar the ropey 1st 2 months which we all know about.

I very much agree and I hope the folks at EA think so too.

Same here. I dont mind paying extra for meaningfull content. Just dont force me to grind anything. And I agree the game delivered plenty of content for the asking price. Much better than DR2.

I was also thinking they should have just delayed the game untill the start of 2024 WRC season. Use the extra time to deliver a solid product and get out of an extremely busy release period. Pretty sure the extra costs for development couldve been recuperated when the game was well received at launch amd consequently sold extra units at a higher price. Rather than being discounted 3 weeks later..

Interesting that they've focused on the frame rate in chile - must say I've not really noticed anything much in Chile, it's more Monte Carlo that still has issues.

Either way, great to see yet more performance improvements here. Can't fault their effort at all. Although I'd be even happier if they added a Celica, hint.

Tried Kenya, Finland, Chile and Portugal last week, some stages is still really bad on PS5.(screentearing)

Just tried the new update for the last hour on ps5. Seems smoother again to me, can't fault it.
A change for me seems to be the vibration settings and trigger effects on the dualsense have been upped a lot, wonder if anyone else noticed this, feels different but good different.
Also I wonder if anyone else noticed a difference to handling? Especially on tarmac and noticeable under breaking. Feels slightly more controlled to me, more precise, brakes more forgiving. I dunno if that's just because the controller settings seem to have been tweaked. Might be in my head but I wonder if anyone else noticed. I'll have to try it on wheel later to see.
Today's moment with the gr yaris in monte feels noticeably different to me anyway.
