Ebola: I Guess We Are All Going To Die

My argument about the flu was mainly meant as a demonstration of how easy it is for a virus to spread. People always say Ebola isn't dangerous because its so hard for it to spread, which isn't true since the flu manages to infect literally millions of people around the world every single year, in a matter of weeks.

One can be spread through the air, the other only by bodily fluids, I'm not seeing how they are comparable. I think this would better suit your argument.

The victim took a flight to the US on the 19/20th of September, boarding without symptoms or a temperature, first sought medical help on the 26th(?), and was finally quarantined on the 28th. His contacts are being identified. Maybe one or two more folks will contract Ebola, but the outstanding public health system here will stop the disease in its tracks - they say.

He's probably kicking himself for not living in Britain, he could make a killing writing for the Daily Mail.

And I just read that the media coverage is now all over that apartment area where the guy visited and that the people there are already moving out, taking their kids out of school and going elsewhere. Nice job media and news outlets, your fear mongering is on point.

Heard on the news today that after his first visit to the hospital they just sent him home with some antibiotics, even though he mentioned he just flew in from Liberia. Good job...

Many Texans have rocks in their heads. It's now said he may have contacted some 80 people, all of whom will now have to be monitored.

Well the man himself is an effing moron. He was in close personal contact with 2 other Liberians that died of Ebola 4 days before he got on the plane - he needs to be in prison for intentionally spreading the disease.

That is the part of the story that is getting ignored - HIS legal accountability and responsibility for any infections he spreads.

He is either the single dumbest person on the planet or one of the most evil with intent to spread Ebola - pick 1.

Okay, but yet another part of the story is ignored.

BA and some other airlines have ceased service to the Ebola-zone. But the US is not. This is because to do so would run counter to President Obama's immigration liberalization policies. So CDC must shape their policies and statements to support an immigration reform agenda in lieu of a public safety and health agenda. Should the Ebola epidemic spread to other third world countries and ultimately to western nations, you may want to impeach the President for his accountability and responsibility in spreading the epidemic.

Pretty much this.

"Open Borders Are My Attraction", the President could say.

I am not denying that the buffoon ignoramus in the WH doesn't have some of the most idiotic policies every conceived - but this fool from Dallas going home to visit Liberia carries the brunt of the blame.

He is the one that carried dying Ebola victims into their house, then came home.

Remember, Liberia is not know for the best of anything - and the peoples from and of that region are representative of the entire way of life in that corner of the continent.

They do things the African way - including basic sanitation.

i.e. None.

Talk of this whole situation is strangely quiet here in Dallas. You see more on the national news than you do in the local.

Local isn't looking at the big picture here. The State Fair. If any of those 100 people attend the State Fair and starts spreading it, you could be possibly looking at multiple cities and states with this kind of scare, not just here in Dallas.

One thing to note, Liberia officials now have pending charges against the Ebola carrier here in Dallas for lying on his health form when he traveled to the US.

Good. People need to be held accountable for their actions. If he is a Liberian national he needs to be deported in a quarantine box.

So I suppose you'd like to imprison the entire staff of that Dallas hospital as well then? This kind of biggotism won't solve the problem.

Biggotism? Are you serious?

This Liberian piece of trash lied on his forms on his exit from Liberia - and was dumb enough to expose himself to Ebola and then travel across the world.

Let me guess - you would rather hug a murderer and understand his childhood rather that lock him away in prison?

Unless they're planning on attending the State Fair and hurling their blood at as many people as they can, that won't be an issue.

Ebola is just not that easy to spread. It's not influenza or measles. In fact it's quite like HIV in terms of transmission.

For those concerned about whether or not they may have Ebola, a handy questionnaire has been created:

The man didn't intentionally come here to spread it. He came here because he knew his survival rate would be a lot higher than staying in Liberia.

I'm more peeved at the fact he came here & knowing he had been in contact with the virus, still associated with people & children. I am all for sending him back, cured or not; he'll be prosecuted & be back at immediate risk for catching the disease again.

Well that's proven to be not true,

Don't you think those heath workers that got it weren't covered head to toe in protective gear and had knowledge above and beyond the average person about how to NOT get infected...

It can travel in water vapour in the air in a very humid situation (Africa) so the sweat evaporating from someone can enter your body just by breathing near them. Plus anything that people touch leave sweat molecules so you can get it from a door handle or any surface.

The family of the Liberian has been violating their quarantine. Accordingly, Dallas authorities have placed an armed guard on their residence.

For those of you so ******re Ebola can only be spread by contact with an Ebola victim, explain the case of the doctor who acquired the disease without such contact, and the well documented laboratory test case of aerial transmission between pigs and monkeys.
