There's a possibility I'll be a real unhappy camper in about 20 minutes.. just finished running a 17.250 at eiger, exited out only to get a "could not establish connection to server notice.." There was a flurry of colorful words, then I checked to make sure i was logged into the psn, I was, then another window came up asking if I would like to try again, and I said yes.. yet another "could not establish connection to server" it was only then that I realized that they're doing their online maintenance right now.. I'm just hoping to god that they give me another retry window at 10.. if not, I'll be frustrated to say the least..

In response to this question:
So how much time do you guys have left in you?

I did a few more laps and I've been about a tenth up on my 17.250 at eiger, and If i put it all together for one lap, I can see a 17.0xx. Honestly haven't touched indy since I set my time on monday so I'm not sure about that track.

I don't think GT5 will connect to the server until you have updated to 1.07. Which means you probably won't be able to upload your lap. Sorry dude.

Is anyone able to complete a lap at Eifel while following a leader's ghost? My ps3 froze on the final straight to the finish line. Screen frozen, everything visible, and still hearing the high rev of the engine.

Yes sir

I think you guys are overreacting a bit about the replays. I don't think anyone who would make the top 8 would need a replay, and the people that do need the replay still wont make the cut.

I excel at other sim racing games but have always been weird with GT5. Having said that, i have as much time in me as you do. You are the target sir :). I have been improving by a second a day at eifel and am about to break into 17 land. (at a 2:18.1... i did have a lap where i was .600 up on that but messed up third sector). I have not put much time into indianapolis except on the first day but i will get up there as well. I am going to give absolutely everything this weekend. I do not have a defeatist attitude :)

its the comparisons on the data logger that i am interested in. Those help me the most. I never like to follow ghosts because i only react to what they do.. which will always ensure that i am slower.

I doubt someone will be at 9th place in their region, watch a replay, and magically be able to make the top 8. If they are already up that close to their time, they already know the line, they just need to work on executing it which the replay isnt going to help. Anyone who doesn't know the line is not going to magically jump from way back in the ranks to a top 8 spot just because they have a replay to follow.

Using a replay helped me find a better line and where the throttle and braking points are. I understand the track better now because of it and dropped more than a second doing this. Top 8 will be an achievement, and using all the tools available to me can help me get there.

I'm going to agree with this, and after looking at the rankings in the West I have come to the conclusion that a half second is asking way more than I am able to give right now. Replays are not going to help.

Thanks for the challenge guys, was a blast. Got A LOT farther than I thought I would, so no disappointment here. From here on out, I'm rooting for TimeAttack. :)👍

You only need 3 tenths.👍

yeah but there are 3 days left i think he is saying he just wont have the time to squeeze out those few extra tenths.....although if its anything like before he will still post better laps :P

well, loaded up Choates ghost tonight and got in the 17.5s. Thanks Choate!

I know I can gain another .1-2 towards the back end, but gonna go back and try out Indy.

You are barely a tenth off 8th RT, you still have a big chance !

Right now, sure. But I'm looking at the big picture here, where TimeAttack and S_Diem finally get their times up. I figure I need to be somewhere around 4-5th overall in the West to be safe, which is .5xx or more off my time. I'm certainly not getting that from Indy, and no way I'm getting that from Eifel considering the time I put in the other night with no progress. I might get a tenth or two, but that's not going to do it IMO.

It's cool, there's always next time. :dopey:

Copy. I sure wish instead of 1 qualy lap, it was a 5 to 10 lap race.... Based on average time - as I ran 10 laps @ Indy within 2 tenths at the "largest gap." Granted, they were all in the low 41's but it's still consistent. I am going snowboarding tomorrow - and will be giving it h*l* for the majority of Saturday. I just cannot seem to "crack" Eifel - stuck with a fastest time of 21.xxx . Ugh, as you said - there is always next time and I can only hope that BOTH tracks will be real ones as I seem to be beyond struggling with their "made tracks."

I know, right? After a good 30 lap session at Indy, most of my times are very consistent in the 40.9xx area. I've had many laps in a row within a tenth or two, including back to back laps down to the thousandths a couple times.

Oh well.

Okay, seriously Sony? You take the replays offline presumably to fix the annoying problem of the game freezing randomly when using certain ghosts. Understandable. Then, you release a patch and replays go online. Awesome. Except now my game freezes up with ghosts MORE than it did pre-patch. And it won't even display ghost data for some drivers even though I have double- and triple-checked that I have already downloaded the ghost data to my PS3. And it occasionally won't let me load ANY ghosts at all despite having a folder full of them.

I'd like to extend a great big WTF to Sony for yet another cockup.

In other news. Looks like SE is just a lot of late bloomers. Result of the replays or just more activity? You be the judge, but times have dropped dramatically since the patch. Frustratingly, not mine.

/rant.

bedtime.

I can't believe how close this battle is in the NE. the gap to 8th from me, 4th, was 0.6 when I went to bed. Now, the gap is now 0.25!

3wide will move up, and everyone will take off a couple tenths just following Zissou and TimeAttack, making it even closer.

I can't wait to go out with my wife and our friends run hot laps all night tonight...

Maybe, maybe not. None of my fastest ghost have been able to load, and that hasn't affected me. Plus, it's not like they are doing something different than anyone else. After 4 days of trying, I'm sure some guys are at their limit. I'm hoping so anyways!

I think I've got a tenth or two at each track and plan to be pretty deep in the 3:57 club by the end of this thing. We'll see. The ghosts did help some guys get up to speed, there were some pretty large gains at Eifel in the South East after the update last night.

Dude you are 2nd in your region already, that's awesome! Congrats!

This is what I was afraid of. After watching the replays, I simply have an "execution" problem.

I had hoped I was simply using the wrong approach on one or both of the tracks but no. The fastest guys runs look just like mine....only faster.

Damn. Now what?

Practice practice practice.

Who am I kidding? I need a healthy dose of good, old-fashioned LUCK! (and practice) It only takes one run....

SpecMiata = not who I'm worried about...in this round.

Geesh, I get a shout out. I don't think you all have to worry about me in the finals, if I even make it. I think I'm going to have gray hair or will be totally bald on Sunday since I won't be anywhere near my PS3. :grumpy:

More time needs to be found soon. :nervous:
