In the Scapes photomod i see one old Fiat Abarth 595 SS…with a bigger block!

I got an engine for the car I was driving. I forget what it was (I'm on menu book 19 I believe). I normally remember my cars, but I believe it was either a Mustang or Camaro ZL1. Not my favorite vehicles.....but I wonder if my '65 Mini would like that?

I can understand why they put such extreme mods behind the roulette wheel but why not make it like the special car dealer or used car dealer where some engines and rare parts appear and can be bought but aren't available all the time (e.g the black editions of Nissan R390, Toyota and mazda group 1? Cars)

Sweet Jesus. Only Gran Turismo could take a feature as often requested as engine swaps and turn it into an obtuse, overthought, one-time use only, game mechanic that has a chance of dropping like you're playing a looter shooter.

Thank the racing gods for Forza. If GT didn't have any competition, imagine how much more obtuse GT would be.

So, the LT-1 would be 25,500 Cr. And the Coyote 22,155 Cr. These would have to be available to buy at some point. I mean, we can buy any of the cars and parts that appear in the roulette. We can even buy virtual credit with real money.

Weird thing is, we can buy a new motor for a car, but can’t Let’s say, store it in the shed, instead of refreshing our car.

Don't mind this at all.

Use Forza's method and you end up swapping engines in everything and it loses what makes it special.

Think how good you'll feel when that engine you're after drops.

As long as they don't start selling roulette tickets for microtransactions...

Think how frustrated you'll feel if it doesn't.

If keeping them feel special is what they were going for there are countless ways to do without involving a random roulette spin.

that kool aid must taste nice
No Kool Aid... Just burnt out with Forza. It's all flash and gets boring after a couple of weeks.

Like many people in here (though also UNlike many others in here) I much prefer the slow burn progression of the original GTs where you have to earn everything. Save money to upgrade those parts. Save longer to get that dream car.

To each their own for sure, but I think giving access to everything with no barriers is a double-edged sword

It's a not entirely unfair point. I don't mind FH5's absolute candyfloss* approach, but it does basically end up with every car in your garage having a 1.6-litre turbo-four rally engine or a V8 of some description. And AWD.

There is surely some middle ground between "bunchofenginesstickoneinOMGV8EVERYTHINGhahahalolwheresmyritalin" and "you can have an engine at random from the 400+ in the game, maybe if you're lucky enough to pull one, from a lootbox mechanic where the boxes themselves are pretty ****ing rare, that might just fit into one of your cars but we'll only tell you which one if you also have that car".

Like... an engine shop you can buy engines from, for Quite A Lot Of Money, which also tells you which cars they can go into?

*Cotton candy, for those of you in non-English-English-speaking countries

i very much prefer the progression of the original gt titles, but playing with a hyped feature many people want and hide it between lootboxes is scummy

engine swaps allow for non competitive cars to have more uses

Am I the only one who thinks it's kinda cool how you can only get an engine through the roulette? It makes the whole thing feel more unique and special. And you don't really need to swap engines at all, it's not like not having any engines to swap blocks you from going through the game. I like when games have some rare content which may take a while to get.

Has anyone tested out if, when you buy the "new engine" option from the Extreme tab in the tuning shop, the engine that the player replaced, becomes available in the storage or whatever?

Some decisions that PD make are genuinely baffling. There are so many other ways to make an engine swap rare or something to work towards. But pure luck? Come on! That’s ridiculous.

This is really bad game design. One of the best new tuning parts and they’ve put it behind a lottery (out of the many tickets I’ve had I’ve gotten the lowest prize probably 70-80% of the time). All of those parts in the raffle should be winnable items from completing races or other tasks. Reward players that put time and effort in,not annoy them!

GT7 is fantastic but there are some things that really let it down and it’s things like this that prove they need to listen to their community a bit more.

This is basically NFS Payback's Speed Cards system all over again. Locking the meta tuning option behind a lootbox system? In a F2P mobile game sure. In an AAA title? Go home Kaz, you're drunk.

Can you imagine the development meeting for this game? Music Rally, a useless feature no one asked for, gets front and center attention in the game intro and main menu. Engine swaps, a ground breaking tuning feature that spawned 10 pages of discussion without even being confirmed in the game, gets relegated to a roulette system that some players may never even see or acquire. I'm not saying they should be handed out like candy. Just have them locked to a high level and make them expensive, but take luck out of the equation.

I mean, I like keeping my cars pure and I'll likely not use this feature much even if it's easily accessible (in NFS Heat I only ever did 1 swap just to see what it feels like). And Sport Mode is probably unaffected as well because of BOP. But this is such a huge blow to the tuning community and those who like to make project cars/replicas/drag builds.

Between this, the grindy economy, and wonky rear tyre grip, the hype has totally burst for me. Normally I can't tear myself off the TV when a new GT game hits, but I haven't touched it since playing for a bit on day 1.

First world problems considering other things happening in the world right now, but I'm just sad really :guilty:

They could have expanded the used car dealership or something to include these parts if they wanted to keep them a little rare. I wonder how long it will take to figure out what engines and compatible cars there will be. :indiff:

I understand why people are upset and even I don’t like RNG in any game but I’m kinda okay with it here. Like someone else said engine swaps and drivetrain swaps are so rampant and played out in Forza that it’s nice that they’re a rarity in this game. That’s just my opinion though.

It’s cool to have them rare but to obtain them like this is pretty rough lol! As you said when I get one I will be excited.

So make them unlockable by winning 100 races, or by golding all licenses and driving missions, or by owning all 424 cars. Or whatever.

Make them rare by achievement and progression, not by random luck.

How did the saying go? “PD gonna PD”?

I definitely appreciate the attempt to make them feel a bit rare and special, as Forza horizon just hands them to you for chips, which I personally think spoils all the fun. But there has to be a better way than just putting them in loot boxes.. Ah well, I’ll probably still enjoy the feature once I start unlocking them.
