Where are you getting this car unlocking part from? (beside buying cars) Have I missed it?

Some cars you can not buy, can only be won. Such as the cars for completing all missions and the whole of GT4, I do not own due to only being 99.8% complete.

Anyway since some are going on about the "Real Driving Simulator" why is it we have to unlock cars? I man seriously, when in real life do we have to unlock a car to drive it? Normally if we have the money we just buy it!

In real life you also die when you slam into a wall at triple digit speeds. Do you want PD to implement that feature as well?

I know it is a bit drastic, but it works to serve the point that some things have to be done to make it a game.

when i get GT5p, i'll get back onto the PS3 upstairs, for now, i'll just relax and play some NES Mario in my room.

what i really wanna hear is the Viper rumble through the side pipes.... wonderful

Oh, yeah, like in JP GT5P these cars are only concepts anyway, not production cars.

I wouldn't be too impressed if production cars are only unlocked.

Is there anything like GameShark available for the PS3 yet? If not, then that's probably his reason. :yuck:

hehe maybe.

i just dont understand why he is criticizing a niche game that is obviously not supposed to appeal to his niche. this isnt Gran Turismo 5. Gran Turismo 5 will more than likely suit his needs perfectly yet he is upset about a "demo" that has features he doesnt want and excludes others he does. it seems like he cant grasp the fact that its just a prelude, a sign of things to come. there is depth, but its not supposed to be so in depth as to entice all gamers. if when gt5 comes out he still has problems with the way it works, his criticism will be valid.

this is what should be expected of prologue and what it is meant for:

display of advanced new graphics
demonstration of how the cars drive
introduction to online play
an apology in the form of a game for keeping people waiting so long for gt5.

everything else is just fluff.

**edit

i am going to bold everything for him because i dont know if he will be able to get the right points out of my post.**

Your points are noted and understandable, and non argumentative. I am just really more frustrated of waiting.

And what happens to drivers like me? who are average at best and struggle to win races etc and can not unlock the cars we wish to drive? I know most will answer "Then Practice" but some times if you don't have the skills then you don't have it. But there should be a way where we can enjoy a game, I like racing, in fact I love it, but because I am nothing more than average I can't enjoy all 100% of games.

This I completely understand, but do not have an answer for. In the end, it IS just a game, and if you paid for it, you ought to have access to all the content....sort of. I don't have access to all kinds of things in many of my games, shooters, sports, racing, etc., because I'm not skilled enough at them to open up the special stuff. I guess that's part of buying a game.

Sorry if I was being harsh.

Nailed it. Perhaps the reason behind having to unlock things in Prologue is based on the fact that the full game will not be out for some time. If PD can make it so the average player will take a while to complete it, they will have succeeded by showing some flow and transition, rather than offering everything on a silver platter at the beginning, leading to another waiting period for the full game.

When the full game hits, there may be fewer limitations, offering the option for a more open/accessible level of gameplay. After all, a lot of people who complete GT5 will either restart their career to renew the experience or keep acquiring credits, personal favorite cars, etc. until the next release in the series.

i am frustrated of waiting as well. but i am excited that i at least get to see what kind of advancements have been made to the driving aspect. that was my greatest concern. i couldnt care less about what features PD decides to officially include in the final version or this version. i want to know what has been done to enhance the actual, literal, driving experience. how do the cars handle, how is the AI, etc.

You can always get a 100% and full money game save in the not long future after the game is released.

I got stuck at 99.8% in GT4, never got 100%, I don't like cheating, if there is any chance of me completing the game it will be done.

There is not many games out there I do complete, but doesn't mean i don't enjoy them, sometimes it just gets annoying not being able to complete a game.

If that's where you're stuck, I recall it being due to the order of which you completed objectives within Mission Hall (i.e., if you didn't do Mission #1 first, you'd be stuck at 99.8%). The 'Game Saves' link in my signature mentions this vaguely and offers a 100% completed version of GT4.

At this point, you'd probably be a little miffed that you had to restart the game to get 100% properly. Then again, maybe there's a dealer event that you haven't finished yet.

I am stuck because of the last mission, number 34 or what ever, the SLR at the Nurb, can't get closer than 4 seconds away.

@eastley: what you have obviously not done yet is play the Japanese version of Prologue: there aren't any locked cars in prologue: there are cars you have to buy and a few cars you win when you complete races.
As for your fear of it becoming too arcady (!!!), you have to try the new pro simulation mode. For someone who claims GT4 is too hard you may find you best go back to playing nascar or whatever..
anyway, just don't talk about what you don't know is all

You hit the nail on the head; he does not have the Japanese version otherwise his eyes would be open. The veil has not been lifted yet.

We are now in a whole new era of Gran Turismo my friend.

No i have not played the Japanese version of the game, didn't se the sense in wasting money on it, I could at least wait until the Australian version came out, and Nascar, lol. And how can you blame me for talking about stuff I don't know? If anyone comes on this forums and says the slightest bad thing about the GT series near everyone wants to cut there throat, you all fan boys, I myself am unbiased and I can see some slight arcade type content creeping in, it's you the fans that are blind.

Then you give me **** on the fact I am not as good as you or most others? omg, your a wanka, you pick on lesser people, there not as good as you so therefor there not entitled to play a game or even have an opinion, I know thats not completely evident here but it's way a lot of you come across.

All I am wanting so some sort of way were someone like me who loves racing can play this game, have access to all content or can at least unlock it, and eventually finish it, that is not a lot to ask, maybe PD need an overall difficulty mode I don't know, but either way, PD seem to be more and more basing this game on unlocking more and more content, whether this will be evident in the full game or not, it's a waiting game.

I'm going to ignore your childish remarks.
Anyone that reads through your posts can easily see you just have no point.

And lets not spoil this great thread and Amar's great job!

seen a few scattered posts complaining about pd using the quote "the real driving simulator ". and giving reasons its not etc. To those complaining you do realise GT doesn't use that quote anymore. its now "the new standard"

Now that I think about it having the tuning mode unlocking is a good way to keep new comers to the series F'ing their up car up by tuning it incorrectly. It's better for them to warm-up to the game by trying out stock cars, getting used to how they drive before going straight into the tuning mode.

As huge fans of the series we should all be thankful that PD released a Prologue before the final release of GT5. They could have easily just given us that free demo and ended right there. This time around GT5P as more content then GT4P. online mode, tuning, GTTV and over 50+ cars one being an official F1 car and with potential DL for new content. I think its very nice package for all if us to try out some these new features.

I view this game as very nice portfolio that demonstrates PD's new feature sets for fans and new comers to try out by no means do I think this game reflects the final game becoming to arcade like.

I have been thinking about engine sounds, since Amar said "F1 sounds OK", I have been reading and watching old GT1, GT2, GT3, GT4 and GT5P videos, and in all the games the engine sounds are almost the same. Also I have been comparing GT engine sounds with othe games, and I do not belive PD will leaves with the same sounds that in previous versions. I am thinking one of the big surprises of the full GT5 will be a great engine sounds. I also have to say that I do not care too much about engine sounds.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Just don't expect that everyone is going to agree with you. You can cling to objectivity all you want, but I can't see how you'd enjoy the game that way. But don't accuse everyone of being fanboys because we really don't like it.

Yes, that's brilliant of you. The moment you run out of arguments, you start insulting people. So much for you much-cherished "objectivity".

So you just want someone to say "Here, eastley, have GT5. We've already unlocked everything for you and given you ten million credits to do with what you want ..."? I fail to see how that would be even the slightest bit fun. Sure, you can have everything ... but I found buying an LMP in GT4 was so much more satisfying than if someone had just given it to me.

probably the only game i had fun playing that i DIDNT WANT to play.

so...how about that gt5p?

Probably the only game I hated every bit of it yet still played it through to the end. (resistance)

I also said maybe an overall difficulty mode, like easy, medium or hard. That way I will still have to unlock what ever it is I am wanting. but at least I'll have a chance of doing it.
