F1 2015!F1 2010-2016

I was about to ask how a track could look like Mickey Mouse and then I re-read what you actually said. :P

The recent Tilke tracks have all been pretty lackluster, you won't get an argument out of me in that regard (I hate Valencia for example) but Hermanos just feels different from everything else. Maybe it is because it's so much flatter than anything else, and has so many esses with a mix of hairpins and chicanes - it just feels like it belongs.

I hope the actual race itself isn't incredibly boring...

To me, the esses seem really forced. Like they are put there as a gimmick rather than having any sort of flow. In that respect it reminds me of the Circuit of the Americas. I really dislike that track because they seemed to just cram every type of corner in the track just for the sake of having them, and I don't think the track flows well at all.

Will my G25 work on a PS4? What wheels do work on the PS4? Not ready to buy a PS4 just yet!

No. Officially compatible wheels are Thrustmaster T80, T300, and upcoming Logitech G29. Wheels that aren't officially compatible, but will probably work are Thrustmaster T100, T500, Fanatec GT2, GT3 v2, CSR, CSW. There might be a few more that I haven't covered, but those are the most popular ones.

Atleast its not 2010-2013 all over again.

Dammit Vettel.

Err... I don't mean to sound rude but did you even follow those seasons?

2010 had four genuine title contenders at the last round of the championship, and Vettel was the least likely to win, the entire season it was either Alonso, Webber, or Hamilton that people were talking about.

2011 Red Bull were a cut above with their ebd, and Vettel adapted to the new driving style required for the ebd cars much quicker than Webber, and dominated the season. The only season he truly dominated.

2012 had 7 different winners for the first 7 races. Red Bull and Mclaren were about on par with each other, but both had reliability issues, allowing the slower, but far more reliable Ferrari, of Alonso, to stay in the title hunt until the final race. Actually leading the championship for much of the year.

2013 Mercedes had the quickest car by a significant margin, but horrendous tire overheating problems, coupled with that year's extremely fragile tyres in the first half of the season, saw them lock out the front row in quali, and end up often outside the top ten in the race. Ferrari nailed the fragile tyres, and Alonso took two wins early in the season, and was looking good. Tyres were changed mid-season due to safety issues following the British GP, which suddenly saw Ferrari with huge tyre warm up issues, unable to turn them on. Red Bull and Mercedes were perfectly suited to the new construction, but Vettel proved again why he was three time champion, winning every race in the second half of the season.

I don't see that period as anywhere near as dominant or predictable as we are currently witnessing with Mercedes.

2014, Mercedes locks out the front row almost every race. Ricciardo being the only non-mercedes driver to win a race, and only three times, when Mercedes had problems.

2015 so far, Mercedes has won every race except one race where Vettel stunned everyone in Malaysia to win a genuine on track race against them. Since then Mercedes has locked out the front row every race and won every race.

Very good summary

What is up with the ghosting in multiplayer when collisions are turned on?! Seriously, this is the stupidest stuff I've ever seen.

We're not all rammers and it defeats the point of playing if you ghost as soon as you get near someone - very realistic!

I even had that in single player on Monaco. One of the Marussia cars crashed really hard and went flying into the air. Then I approached them and drove right trough them.

Monaco with heavy rain looks awesome though! Especially the replays

Downloaded the game last night, and....... It's possibly my favourite racing game so far of current gen.

It's just the experience it delivers. I haven't actually done a race yet, but have spent all last night and most of today doing over 100 laps of hot lapping various cars and tracks. The graphics and fps are the first things to hit you. The difference they make is massive. Whoever it was who said they prefer this game's graphics to those of pcars', I have to say I agree. They are gorgeous. The physics definitely do not feel the same and are a lot smoother. Perhaps this is just me, but they sort of remind me of the old studio Liverpool f1 games (the way the chase camera follows the car in 3rd person is very close to those old games as well ). The new physics make the driving more satisfying for sure. Possibly my favourite aspect of this game so far is the audio. This, for me, is easily the best audio of any driving game on current gen. The various engines sound pretty much exactly as they do in real life, and gear shifts finally sound correct, but aside from the cars noise from the wind, kerbs and other sources come together to make an absolutley killer sound package.

The overall experience that hence forms is so fun, real, and exciting. Can't wait to actually do a race now

The game has more or less the same problems as pCARS, fortunately it's not as bad.
Seems bug free games are now definitely history. :indiff:

I've seen some car destroyed and sent flying on invisible objects on Xbox.
And the AI while not as dumb, do stupid things sometimes

(beware on Kemmel straight, I've seen several cases very similar to mine :D)
2015, the year of the bug and the reckless AI (not wreckless). :banghead:

So, if you say "pit now!" on the mic the AI does a pit maneuver? That's interesting.

Since it is Magnussen who crashed me and Button is just in front of me, I suspect it is a case similar to Singapore 2008. Remember Kevin had to fight to keep his seat. :D

I'm thinking the game may be a tad too easy. I abandoned my first season, as it was on the second hardest difficulty, and I won 3 of my first 5 races in a sauber. I restarted on the Legend difficulty, with Mclaren, and I've managed to beat Alonso pretty badly, and even finished 6th twice in my first 3 races.

The game feels great, the AI is very good to race against, and I like that you really do have to look after your tyres (I had to do an extra stop one race due to driving too hard and wearing the tyres way to quickly). It's just that I don't feel like I should be finishing so high up, in an uncompetitive car, on the hardest difficulty, using a ds4, with only a handful of races experience.

I tried a single race weekend in the Merc on legend, to see how I'd fare on the hardest difficulty in the best car. I didn't bother doing the race, as I qualified on pole by almost three seconds, which told me everything I wanted to know.

I don't mind having to play on a lower difficulty in racing games where the hardest is insanely hard, but I know if I'm belting the AI so easily, there will be people that find the difficulty a joke.

Is the FFB much different from previous F1 titles by Codemasters?

The FW37 and SF15-T are just an absolute mess around a wet Monaco, even with a proper tuning.

The MP4-30 on the other hand is an absolute god; slow, but a god nonetheless.

I had a go in the McLaren the other day and it's pretty nice actually. Still preferring the Williams and Force India though.

I'm curious as to what Codemasters class as hard/legend difficulty seeing as it's really easy to beat the AI. I'm guessing it comes from back when people said 2012 and 2013 were 'too difficult'.

How is this game with the t300.

Bought the wheel and project cars yesterday and its great. I think i need to change some settings for ffb etc. Ill do this when i have time.

Do you need to change a lot for this game?

Thanks,

If it's anything like the G27 (and I hope it isn't) I would suggest using it for no reason other than the greater control over the nuances of the car, otherwise you'd have a better experience with a pad.

So I've just returned from a two week family holiday and from what I am reading this looks like I should give it a miss. Am I right?

Abit of mixed feelings really. Many don't like the fact that some of the features from previous games are gone while some like the new physics, the improved AI (which from what I keep reading, actually races instead of just acts like a rolling chicane) and a different presentation style.

It is worth pointing out that this comes from a new team this year (including a handling consultant who's a well known iRacing Alien).

Thanks for the reply. My main concern is the ffb. I race with a Fanatec CSW V.2 and would be looking to get the game on either PC or PS4 but the bad ffb comments are really concerning me.

I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Don't go into it with the unrealistic expectations some people here have and you'll enjoy it. If you are an F1 fan, you should have a lot of fun. I find it a pretty good simcade game, which is good, because I have Driveclub for arcade racing with sweet road cars, and Pcars for sim racing.

I think I've found new hidden vocal commands, I don't think anyone mentioned it yet
It's pretty obvious on afterthought but you can tell "engineer critical" and I guess "engineer full" (but didn't try actually) to switch the frequency at which he talks.
