F1 201X - Updates & News DiscussionF1 2010-2016

Did you set his car up properly? Default setups vs. custom setups is like day & night.

Its not to do with car setups, he is a casual gamer, plays with a DS3, couple of assists. ~Not everyone is a hardcore gamer who wants to spend hour fiddling with setups.

Maybe Codies did a poll and found out people don't do free practise. Well 95% to be exact.

Lol.

They did the same with the Cockpit view for Grid 2.

I hate this statistics crap. No free practice 2 and 3. No possibility to play a season with Kimi or Schumi to make them World Champion. What will they think of next? No manual gears, because 60% uses automatic?!

What the 🤬? No FP2&3? So I have to go to the new american circuit near the end of the season and I get 1 session to learn the track before having to go out and defend/take the lead in the championship. I know I didn't do much of the Free Practices in 2011 but still, it's not exactly a hard thing to implement.

Well it's the official F1 game so no excuses really. It should be in.

Maybe there dropping it so that next year it can be added as an improvement. They must be struggling to find stuff to add. Although a parade lap could be added as a genuine new feature also.

Edit Thanks Mr slow for info.

Hmmm, Looks like I'll be doing:

Long weekend - 1 practice session of 60 minutes & long qualifying (Q1 + Q2 + Q3)

On 50%. Still unsure on the idea of 1 practice session though. :nervous:

The parade lap was even in F1 Championship Edition. A launch game on the PS3.

How to make things complicated...... Jeez louise.

I'm confused.

Let's be honest: 99% of people weren#t using FP2 & FP3 at all. It's not a biggie. Yes, it's taking some realism away. Still not a biggie since almost nobody used it all the time. :)

Edit Thanks Mr slow for info.

I'll show you once I'm getting used to 2012. :P

Well in fairness the 3 practise sessions were a nice option if variable weather was involved.

A dry 1st session, wet 2nd session and maybe a bit of both for the 3rd session.
Ready for Sundays 50% chance of rain main event.

I can really see no reason why it has gone.

Amen to that...

I'm waiting on news from anyone who obtains a PS3 copy, on how the graphics are compared to last year, if they have improved.

So even more stuff has been taken out of the game with the 3 practices?

This is now most certainly going to be the first F1 game I do not buy since 2002.

Shame really.

You can still fast forward time right?

Call me naive and crazy, but I'll still buy this game even if I can win a world championship with HRT.

I meant if the AI could win the championship in an HRT. As it happaned, I did win a full expert 20% championship in an HRT :sly:, though it did bother me

I totally understand why the 3 practice sessions are not in, who realistically sits through 3 hour+ practice sessions anyway. especially if your not doing 100% races. Yes its weird they took them out what with it being an F1 game but it is no way a deal-breaker as far as I'm concerned. Just strange.

I disagree. It's rare for me to even use practice at all, but I have on occasion. Whenever I race at Monaco or Singapore for example. It takes me a while to get in the zone with these tracks, so I will use practice. I normally do a few laps at the start then fast forward and let people out rubber down. I then jump out at a quiet time and get some laps in. It's rare for me to use practice two or three, but I will if I'm not happy with my level of performance.

What is really baffling me is the decision to remove it. It can't have been difficult to include it as an option like it always has been, can it?

Picked up my PS3 copy at midnight since Gamestop had a midnight opening for some other shooter game... Anyway, let there be no question, the PS3 version is MUCH improved over the 2011 offering in terms of graphics and framerate. No. It’s not GT5. Nothing is, but it’s obvious they spent some time making 2012 look polished and it shows. When you’re racing side by side an AI car they look more detailed and less jaggy than 2011.
In terms of FPS, Monaco is the absolute worse track to render at a decent framerate. At least Codies have seemed to struggle with it. However, in 2012 my initial few hot laps showed it has also been improved =)
The handling physics seem to be a blend between 2010 and 2011. I like it so far and I’ve had fun with it and that’s all that matters. See what you guys think once you give the PS3 version a spin.
BTW: For Fanatec CSW wheel users with the F1 rim. The LED lights do not work with this title on the PS3. =(

You're missing the point, it was removed because it wasn't a critical game element (WTF?), or no one used it... or something. Likely because of another conducted poll.

What's next? Well I'd imagine Codies are going to refrain from making the F1 games as they are now because no one plays them. Or something.

They having a laugh removing FP2&3?

Who had the brilliant idea at a meeting to say "lets remove free practice 2 and 3"

I may still get it but it depends on your opinion of the graphics and such over 2011 (PS3)

Turns out more people used Redbull in 2011 so Torro Rosso are not to be included because its bascially the same livery.... :indiff:

That, or they'll conduct a poll asking whoever these delightful individuals are about team ethics, thus removing your partner because no one can play as both drivers at the same time and there's no way to create strategy among the two.

I've always had my complaints about Codies and the legitimacy of their games actually being "official" but now it's practically gone too far.

Just pre-ordered it, can't wait. Why does the UK always get games after everyone else?

To be fair, it was far worse ten years ago.

Yup. Along with other non necessary features like tyre wear scaling. Next, I imagine other non necessary features such as qualifying, pit stops and fuel simulation will go out the door in favour of more cheesy cutscenes before and after races.
