F1 201X - Updates & News DiscussionF1 2010-2016

To be fair, it was far worse ten years ago.

Yup. Along with other non necessary features like tyre wear scaling. Next, I imagine other non necessary features such as qualifying, pit stops and fuel simulation will go out the door in favour of more cheesy cutscenes before and after races.

KERS will go after poll results showed that 51% of people saw it as cheating

Hmm thinking back wasn't there bugs between practise sessions?

R&D going AWOL if you saved between sessions.
Track rubbering in being reset also?
Tires being carried over to the next session with wear applied to new tires.

Bang, drop two practise sessions and bugs eliminated.
Good work CM.

The practice session is an hour long anyway. You can get the car feeling how you want well within' that time.

Fun game though, picked it up this morning. The young driver bit is excellent. It's a nice learning curve to the game now. F1 2011 took some time to get used to.

That was my suspicions as well. Codies seemed to have been struggling with tire coding from the very start of the series all the way back to F12010. I suspect it has to do with the core game engine, combined with a small operating team, and the short 1-year turn around time.

Removing aspects of motorsports is completely unacceptable, it's not a genuine portrayal of Formula One. How hard could it be to use the skip button if you didn't want to drive in FP2-3? This way everybody's happy.

I actually enjoyed F12010 and F12011 it had flaws but at least the core mechanics were there and you had options! From now on every time I play F12012 I will be left thinking this could have been the best of the series if it had some of the features from the previous two, LOL!👎

Initial impression aren't looking too good. After playing CO-OP with my friend, I keep freezing in Q2. However the weather system seems to be working fine. And the graphics are top notch compared to 2011. All in all I'm having a blast even though I can't play... :boggled:

Edit: I'm going to try reinstalling the data.

I have the retail ps3 version. Graphics are just awesome. Understeer is not as pronounced as in demo. And the wet weather, oh my that looks and feels like it should.

Despite all the negative things being said, I think it's a great F1 game.

Do you use a wheel Marco?

I'm waiting on news from anyone who obtains a PS3 copy, on how the graphics are compared to last year, if they have improved.

Yes, it looks better than '11. I've noticed minimal frame rate drops, running a 32" led 60fps.

I'd put it somewhere between FM4 and GT5 for looks. The rain is the best I've seen in racing.

Got G27... Can you change steering lock on PS3?

Hi all, i've done the youth training and gotten all 3 golds and all the chevon's. The wheel option is greyed out as im trying to do career mode. I have a Logitech G25 wheel. I have plugged and unplugged it several times aswell.
Any idea's or am i SOL?

Kind of dissapointed with the 2012 Demo :' (
To me it doesnt look/ feel to much differant to F1 2011

Are you kidding? The graphics have had quite a good improvement. The new handling model is a step back IMO, but very different to 2011's.

The Demo is different to the Retail version it seems in terms of feel.

IMO I didn't like 2011's handling model, so I don't think it's a step back at all. 2011's handling model was  to me.

Be that as it may, my point was more to do with his claim of the handling being too similar to 2011's. Whatever your preference, there's a huge, undeniable difference between the two.

I play with the pad.

I have a racepod with g25 in the attack. But it only has a nonhd flatscreen, and the bedroom is also over there with the wife sleeping :)

But with a pad in the living the game feels really nice. And different from the demo!

some still say there is understeer issue present

so those who have full game, can you please take few laps in demo at yas marina and then try few laps with mclaren on yas marina in full game and report, if there is a difference

of course there is understeer, but not as it is in the demo. Slow hairpins have to be taken slow, because else you will get understeer.

I play with a ds3 and all aids of.

edit

The first left hand corner at the Austin track is quite blind. I wonder how that will fair in real life :)

On second thought, do you think this game would be good with a standard controller, with a more casual approach?

Well, I haven't played it yet with the G25, but with the ds3 I can handle things pretty well. Perhaps due to the fact that I play most of the time with the pad.
