F1 201X - Updates & News DiscussionF1 2010-2016

Scratching my head with these reviews,Thankfully I didn't buy F12011 so 2012 would be different either way for me.

I really wouldn't get my hopes up. F1 2011 was scored an 8 out of 10 or something similar and we all know how bad the game turned out, bugged and botched graphics on the PS3. I hope the IGN review is a true reflection of the game but i have my doubts. Not long to go till we can judge for ourselves :)

I guess people on GTP (can) trust me when it comes to CodeMasters F1 games and I can say, from playing F1 2012 a lot, it's definitely a great game. I'd say 8.5/10.

I believe you are reffering to a full game, right? If so, is the handling any different than in demo?

I didn't play the demo yet - I didn't want to spoil my opinion on the handling. I've, however, just installed the demo and will give it a whirl either today or tomorrow.

one thing bothers me also

the resistance of the wheel when turning it very slightly, maybe 5 to 10 degrees left and right, but when turning more than this you can feel more resistance

i think they should increase the resistance feel of the wheel, don't you

I'll clear this all up, F1 2012 DOES have a career mode that IS 20 races long, the YDT is the start of it.

The 10 race season is called Season Challenge and has nothing in common with the actual career mode. You start in a team like Williams and each race get a new contract until you reach the top and win the championship.

So the game does have a career like 2010 and 2011.

From what I have heard elsewhere they have removed something else but most certainly not the career, I think it is the option to run a full season on the Grand Prix Weekend that has been removed.

You weren't incorrect, but many people had already explained that the career hasn't been removed, including myself.

On a side-note: I found it hilarious how people on the CM boards rather discuss that I wasn't too quick in the videos (default setups, anyone!?) than the gameplay issues. :D

Gotta check the demo out now.

One thing I'd like to know after you give them both a shot is... How much faster are the AI on full legend difficulty compared to the demo?

They have a point though.:dopey:

I'm glad I missed 2011 as this will be a hopefully totally different game to when I had 2010.

Looking forward to the online racing.:scared:

It is...I just thought about firing up 2010 on the PS3 but I don't think it supports the T500. :D

Edit: just checked the demo out...MAN! Understeering all over the place, the demo is nothing like the version I played all the time.

I gave up on the ign review when he misspelt braking, and then described f1 2011 as 'brutally' difficult.

F1 2011 can be difficult. Its entirely person dependant, not every reviewer is like us unfortunately. My dad found F1 2011 too hard for example.

Ok your right, I didnt read the post thouroughly and posted something that was already known, Not a big deal though isit?

Plus even though you are quite correct in what you said, I still think MildAshers should speak for himself and backup his accusation.

Did you set his car up properly? Default setups vs. custom setups is like day & night.

I just tried the wet free run on the Ps3 demo. It looks nice, but I had some iffy framerates. It seems as though theEu demo is somewhat different to the Us demo handling wise.

So understeer is not that of an issue in full game?

Since the slogan is "Feel it" ... do you feel the car the way it should be felt?

Well, I've never driven a real F1 car...but it definitely feels better than 2011. The physics aren't extremely different but it feels better. Hard to explain, actually. :)

Mr. S, can you clarify for us if the game felt different to the demo with identical settings e.g same steering settings and FFB settings at the young driver test at Abu dhabi? Or does it only feel different to the demo when you delve into the different setups? Thanks

I'd appreciate knowing this too. Only a few more hours until it's out on Steam. :D

I've figured out the understeer issue with a bit of close analysing.

The game has a speed sensitivity type filter on, it limits how much steering angle it allows you to apply based on your speed and gear choice. After you hit the limit for your speed the game ignores further input and you can even feel this through the wheel's FFB and see it on screen (The wheel hits a sort of squidgy dead zone feeling), in order to then add more lock you have to slow down. As the speed decreases through a corner the ammount of steering angle available increases, in a low speed 1st gear corner the squidgy dead zone is completely gone because 100% steering angle is available.

It is a strange system but its liklely responsable for both the lack of typical dynamic oversteer effects and the understeer.

+1

+1.

I would also like to know if this look to apex feature can be turned off. I can't be the only one who noticed it.

FP2 and FP3 won't be in the game!
Question - "Wow. I'm speechless. How can you call it an "Official" Formula 1 game without all of the sessions? Idiotic."
T4RG4 replies - "You can. It's called F1 2012 and it's out this week. It doesn't have a formation lap either, but that's okay?"

Conversation continues - "It's not that I'm super bothered, its the fact that it all comes out on release. Why didn't you mention this weeks/months ago?"
T4RG4 replies - "Minor thing that does not detract from the game for 99.9% of people as the sessions were not of sufficient gameplay value."

EDIT:
There is no tire wear scale this year:

Seriously? I defended all the bugs and glitchs and problems in F1 2011, and all they do is make a handling system that doesn't suit my style & take out modes which I would've used if it weren't for bugs which I had to defend...

You'd think that I would be more important then the millions of other people who will now buy this game. I can't believe Codies could just ignore me like that so that a bunch of other people would find the game easier & more realistic & more fun! It's insane! How could millions if dollars be more important to them then my approval :P (don't hate me for not taking the above half of this post seriously :))

Oh well, I'll be like the Iceman and retire from F1 to go to rallying, because WRC 3 is so much fun :D Maybe in a couple years I'll try Nascar Trucks and return to F1 with a quick, nice and reckless teammate, and go on to win the championship despite not winning a single race :)

Seriously though, if WRC 3 weren't so fun I'd probably actually be quite annoyed right now, but since WRC 3 is so brilliant I couldn't care less how many silly things Codies do with their F1 series. They could make HRT the fastest car on the grid and it wouldn't bother me at all :)

I take it this is due to the tyre wear glitch of '11?

Maybe Codies did a poll and found out people don't do free practise. Well 95% to be exact.

Lol.
