F1 201X - Updates & News DiscussionF1 2010-2016

Yeah, braking is also strange. There is no way in real life they are braking so soft. As I believe the F1 car stops in 60 meters when traveling 300kmh, so brakes are realy advanced and cars do stop a lot harder. Sometimes I brake at 150 on first straight on Yas Marina ... sometimes it's perfect, sometimes it's too late and I lock the tires which causes sliding off the track.

I'll clear this all up, F1 2012 DOES have a career mode that IS 20 races long, the YDT is the start of it.

The 10 race season is called Season Challenge and has nothing in common with the actual career mode. You start in a team like Williams and each race get a new contract until you reach the top and win the championship.

So the game does have a career like 2010 and 2011.

From what I have heard elsewhere they have removed something else but most certainly not the career, I think it is the option to run a full season on the Grand Prix Weekend that has been removed.

People are forgetting the Demo says it is not the actual game:crazy: :dopey:

I'm actually disspointed with some of the sounds. Especially downshifting..Sounds awful. And how drastically the sound changes when your use KERS. I was really hoping for some blown diffuser sounds..Seeing as how the game is practically a year behind anyway..

Yes but what I said about the world championship option on grand prix weekend is true about the full game aswell. It isn't in the demo or the actual game.

So I don't know if you were quoting me as one of the ones that forget it's only the demo but I was just clearing things up from the posts before.

Braking is very different in F1 2012 from F1 2011, not only in terms of braking distance, but also how little trail braking is involved now - you really need to get it slowed down and then turn in - there's still a little bit of trail braking, but not like in 2011.

Also, the downshifting is quite important to your braking. If you downshift slowly and deliberately (kind of like how Hamilton does in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H318BzzPHGw) then you can shorten the braking distance. You need to really synchronise the downshifting with the revs i've discovered. If you're braking from 7th gear right down to 1st or 2nd, don't immediately downshift as soon as you brake, but start downshifting a split second after you're already on the brakes. I'd be curious to know if that helps other drivers as well?

yes i know, it was an observation about how soft is braking in the game

but yeah, downshifting is important, you have to downshift at the right moment so the engine helps you braking not only brakes

haha, are you kidding me? he starts to brake just before 100 meter mark on 1st straight. try to do this in demo, i dare you

Uhm, I'm always breaking around the 100m board (unless my eyesight is getting worse) at the end of the first straight in Abu Dhabi. :dunce:

Why on earth have they done that?!? That's utterly utterly utterly ridiculous.

Does this mean that have cut out the "none important" circuits? I sincerely hope not.

That's kind of put me off the game if I'm honest, looks like I'm going to buy FIFA 13 instead.

Is this true?, I thought we were getting a career mode alongside it? I thought the young drivers challenge in Abu Dhabi was the prologue for the career mode......

So they have the rights to make the Official F1 game but dont include the most important thing of all... The drivers world championship?? Thats hard to believe.:ouch:

Hold your money. Championship mode was where you could do an entire championship season as a driver in the current field. That's gone, but the career mode, in which your character rises through the ranks to the top of the grid, is still in the game. Championship mode is hardly a loss to me, as I never used it.

well tried it, overall i like but i don't know why with mi dfgt is unplayable, the understeer is insane, feedback sucks, braking sucks, i won't buy it because even if it's a good game is just frustrating playing it with my wheel.

Let's not forget, it's also the mode where you could create your own mini season. I enjoyed that.

Just had a go (PS3), and first impressions are mixed. Graphics are quite poor, as is the FFB as many have mentioned. But on the plus side, the AI are a lot more aggressive. In 2011, they were very reluctant to overtake, but I had someone on the outside and on the inside going into Parabolica. That's what I've been waiting for, and that's not even the hardest difficulty. Can't wait for the full game.

I hope this hardest difficulty is a LOT harder. I got pole by 2.3 seconds. Then ran away to a 7 seconds win. If you can do that on professional in a Williams then surely using something like a McLaren on Expert will be nearly as easy.

Not to mention the fact that you couldn't tweak the setup (the low downforce setting has a crazy ride height which will undoubtedly not be used by anyone) and the engine was fixed in mix 2. There is a lot more speed in there that we couldn't unlock.

Well some people already have it ... I've seen xbox torrents online!

It looks like pad users will have good handling. What about wheel users???

That's probably taken from the review version - which is still under embargo until tomorrow. I guess some people might even spread the review version...stupidity.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the game will have already gone gold, so we don't know that the leaked version is indeed the review code. Many games have been leaked in a similar manner. I'm guessing their's a thief at one of the facilities where copies are made.

You're definitely right but leaking the review code would be easier and "more convenient", so to say. Ah well, only a few more days anyway. :D

indeed it is. it wasn't before i posted it here :( it's wet melbourne with rbr and grosjean challenge, which we have seen before on gamescom

The review version is under embargo until tomorrow, so that's probably why - might've been a mishap to publish it a few hours early. Someone might've a leaked version, tho. :P

From a source I just heard that the minumum race lenght in career mode is 25%. That might not seem much for most of you guys, but if you have a job and family to take care of, then it is too much I am afraid.

Bit strange, because in the demo there was a 5 race lap and that is just enough for me.
