F1 201X - Updates & News DiscussionF1 2010-2016

Guys I have a question. Started playing career and came to Malaysia. Drove the FP and Q in dry weather and now it's raining. Wanted to change my downforce but can't do it - wtf? In the top left corner it says "that some parc fermé restrictions may apply"?! I hope it's a bug because it can't be true that F1 cars can't change their downforce from the Q to the race. I mean, FIA would be pretty crazy in my opinion.
Anybody else noticed this?

That's isn't a bug, it's real life regulations. Once qualifying is over, major changes cannot be made to the car, which includes changing the downforce levels.

Okay that's crazy. I'm a long time F1 follower and I haven't heard of that regulation. I mean the downforce is a major thing for the safety when the conditions are so unpredictable. Okay no problem then, I'll race with my dry setup, on a wet track (wow that sounds crazy). Thanks for the reply.

This rule does apply in real life. If it is going to be dry in qualifying but wet in the race then teams must gamble between having a dry setup and being quick in qualifying or having a wet setup meaning you'll be slow in qualifying but quick in the race. Setups are not allowed to be changed between qualifying and the race due to parc ferme conditions.

The teams have to look at the weather and plan ahead. That's what makes unpredictable and changeable weather so exciting.

Well 10 years and still going. As has been said, teams can use weather forecasting to accurately gauge setup strategy.

Unbelievable, almost every session i compete in (Quick race) the car develops an engine fault forcing me too retire, im seriously 🤬 off

Patch 3 is out for PC users:

Today sees patch #3 available on Steam for PC versions of F1 2012.

This update addresses a number of issues, including:

Fixed an issue with frame rates that was introduced in patch #2
Fixed an issue where using a flashback could result in an engine blowout effect. This would also result in the player doing an unnecessary pit stop if they were trying to serve a drive through penalty.
Fixed the achievement “The Equipment May Be The Same” to unlock in Career as per the description
Reduced the amount of starting fuel that the user is given for races Austin as it was previously too high
Fixed some issues in Co-op Qualifying when only one user progresses to the next session
Fixed a number of camera and graphical issues
Fixed several issues which would display the incorrect number of players in a lobby or a race

We are working on other issues you have reported via the forums, Facebook and Twitter and are working to fix them as quickly as possible. In the meantime, please note that we are still collecting feedback via our Technical Assistance forums and do encourage you to post your issues there being sure to include as much information as possible.

Thanks for your continued feedback!

Yeah however I'm not sure the AI is following the same rules, they seems to adapt there speed and setup to be faster all the time. I did a few qualification where it was wet and they were putting very good time, then in the GP it switch to dry and they suddently had a very high top speed which clearly indicate a dry setup, I couldnt keep up in the dry even tho I was pretty close in the wet qualification.

Well since weather system is pretty much ducked up when there are too many rainy days (confirmed by CM as well) it's pretty frustrating since qualy can be wet and race can be dry and boom I have wet setup for race :S

Anyone have a Melbourne setup?
Edit:used a 2011 tune,wow setups make a huge difference

I haven't had a single wet session. Dunno what the fuss is about.

That must be annoying too.

How are the AI in the wet? I realise titles like this can take a few weeks for people to work out the various quirks.

I have started running with flashbacks turned off completely. Its amazing how much you driving style changes when you know you can't use a flashback if it goes pear shaped. Unbelievable how much we rely on them nowadays.

The AI are good in the wet. If anything I find them a little harder in the wet than the dry. Wet driving is good too, the car has a definite squirminess that it doesn't have in the dry.

Sounds promising. Previous titles suffered with unequal difficultys. AI okay in Dry, Super human in wet etc.

if they have struck a balance of comparable speed differences over different conditions that's good.

If I'm 5 secs a lap slower in Dry then I don't mind being 5 secs behind in the wet. Give or take a second on set ups etc. just avoid extremes.

Their wet tire strategy isn't the best, though.
