For some reason, about 98% of sessions, my engine smokes? anyone else with this problem?

Overall i am loving the game, man its alot more challenging than i thought it would be, legend career with no aids, im in a FIndia, and im doing good laps in quali and im only getting about 16th! (mind you i am only on my 3rd career race) in the race im about 2-3 seconds off the leaders pace too, Hopefully i get faster or they get slower :lol: But i LOVE IT!

The only thing annoying me is sometimes when ill go into a session, the game doesnt respond, and im just sat in my car (PS3 needs to be turned off).

and getting flooded with invites! :lol: i don't play this game online unless in a league! haha

My engine smokes to, it doesn't seem to be anything more than a small bug but it isn't a precursor to engine failure. I am also in force india in legend difficulty for career and loving it. My best result so far is 5th in my last race at Catalunya and best qualifying is 13th :) I haven't yet experienced the bit you describe when the game freezes.
 
I have a question for wheel users: when you go full-lock does the force feedback on the wheel cut-out/slack? Mine does no matter what setup I use. I just want the wheel to give me feedback when I'm full lock.

Further to your feedback, we’re pleased to inform you of the following with regards to patch updates for F1 2012.



Since Steam allows us to apply updates/patches very quickly, within the next day or so we’ll be releasing a patch for the PC version of the game that addresses the following issues:



* Drivers should no longer have collisions with “invisible walls”
* Fixed the desynchronised session of results which could occasionally lead to race result errors
* Closed a small loophole which allowed erroneous times to posted to RaceNet
* General RaceNet data upload stability improvements

This will be followed later this week by a further patch for PC which will address a large number of issues including the auto-save bug that are being tested and verified now. Details of these fixes will follow once this testing phase has been completed.



This same patch is also being tested and verified for both Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game, however since these versions require additional submission and authorisation from both Microsoft and Sony the release date for these will follow a little later than the PC version.



In the meantime, please note that we are still collecting feedback via our Technical Assistance forums and do encourage you to post your issues there being sure to include as much information as possible.

I think its linked to the use of flashbacks or replays.

My thinking is the smoke is coming from my skid plate because my car ride height is set too low and suspension too soft.

Then again smoking engine would explain my engine failures :dopey:
 
They haven't put that much detail in :P .

Its definitely flashback related. First engine failure I get from it and damage is going off.
 
I had 2 engine failures in the same weekend (Practice and Race), it hadn't overheated and no smoke was coming out of the back so I had no clue what had gone wrong. It may have been the alternator as I was running in the Red Bull Racing *Renault*in my career.
 
Seems quite erratic on engine failures. Had one out of nowhere just after a flashback at china. Damage off till its fixed.

Another note, love how even with dry forecast, clouds still roll across and look threatening. So cool.
 
I have had a little smoke from the rear & I dont use flashbacks/replays but I havnt had any engine failures.

I noticed smoke to and tried to never hit the rev limiter, works for me.. Sometimes I downshift a bit too early and hey there's the smoke again. I assume it's from revbanging.

Tried the demo after downloading off Steam, crashed my PC right away without loading. I can run iRacing on full graphics but not open F1 2012 demo.. Very dissapointed. Any way to try get around this problem?

There's still some weird stuff happening if the track is wet.

And there's too much rain GP. I hate that.

In the dry it's much better in the 2012.

Hi Matty. I don't really have an answer, but have you tried reinstalling it? If you have and it hasn't worked, perhaps you should start a thread on the official forum. There are more users over there and there is also the chance that one of the devs may step in to help.

Does anyone know if they released a patch for the demo?

My f1 2012 demo was working fine when I first downloaded it but now it runs like absolute crap. As soon as you launch it it lags and takes forever to load and the fps is so bad it's unplayable. I was reading that one of the patches for the full game had this affect on some PC's so maybe it applied to the demo also.
 
Sounds like they have already released 1 or 2 patches for PC on the CM forums.

The demo is so messed up for me now, I was keen to buy the full game but not if it's going to run at 15fps like it seems to be now.
 
Just got it, short session over (free practice at Monaco) I'm terrible at it, can't seem to properly brake without locking up and understeering into a wall,does anyone else have fps drops?
 
I have hopefully a quick question on the 2012 demo - many of my online friends keep telling me to try the game, it's so awesome, etc, but my first impression from the demo is not too good. The same steering problem that made me not buy previous F1 games is still present in the demo of 2012 - the wheel doesn't turn past 90 or 100 degrees each side, you can feel the stopping spot in the wheel where on the screen you see the driver's hands stop rotating. This means on tight hairpins you can't input enough steering angle to feel natural, I remember trying a lap of Monaco in 2010 I think and I constantly had to do the hairpin using extra throttle to rotate the car. Seems like nothing's changed since then...

Anyone else using the DF GT wheel on PS3? How do you correct for this lack of steering input, some hidden setting I've missed perhaps?

My demo also has a weird purple haze over the video, very strange.

What system mate? I've not heard of frame drops.

PS3 mate maybe my eyes are playing tricks but i think FPS drops at the last corner in Monaco, did experience the occasional screen tear aswell

I haven't come across a frame drop at Monaco yet but I have had one at Yeongam and Texas.

It seems to happen when i drive really fast through the last sector

Edit: My Engine(i think) has blown in a practice session,so yeah fine onwards to quali, first flying lap then Boom it explodes in the exact same place.
