Microsoft won't allow cross platform multiplayer. Sony is open to the idea (as Portal 2 showed us) but the developer would have to go to great lengths to make it happen, and as I said, Microsoft won't allow it at all.

Personally, I think it would be very fun as well. Hopefully the next generation consoles will work towards something like this.

So it can be done then!...cool as haven't played portal but heard nothing but good things. Do u think they do it to cut there nose off to spite there face n not fraternise with the enemy? Ty 4 quick reply... Is portal worth buying btw?

I was under the impression that PC online can be a bit up and down.
Mods allowing super grip and such like. I think it's easier for the PC community to alter files and such to gain unfair advantage.

These are only stories I've read and I'm not throwing out a blanket statement here so correct me if I'm wrong.

What in the blue hell happened to the FFB? My wheel is simply loose now.

Everytime I come back to this there's something new wrong with it.

Anyone had this issue regarding rain. Started race dry, but on lap 4 it started raining. On screen at least, as engineer then came over the radio to tell me the rain was expected in 5 minutes time. Rain carried on coming down, and my dry tyres + lap times all worked as normal. My engineer then comes on the radio (now lap 8) to inform me light rain has started falling. From that point on the physics started to simulate a track getting wet.

Very annoying glitch, I don't normally restart a race but the rain came down and the safety car came out just as I was getting to rascasse. I thought I had played a tactical blinder, but intermediates couldn't even live at safety car pace on a dry track :grumpy:

The weather system is very broken. The sky is blue but it starts to rain. You'll have to go to intermediates instandly....

When it pours you have to use intermediates, until the radio says you have to switch to full wets...

When it stops raining you have to switch to dry tyres, even though to road is still wet, you see the reflection on the asfalt....

You cannot choose a more risk strategy on your own intuition. The game decides when you'll need to change tyres, regarding what you see on the screen. Very very annoying

Exact same thing happened to me in China. I was on the main straight on lap 3 and it just started raining, but the physics of the car didn't seem to change at all. I only needed inters on lap 9.

Things start coming together in China! :D

A hard-fought 11th place after a Pit cock-up in Malaysia cost me a 14th, spirits are high at Caterham! :P

tick tock, tick tock, waiting patiently for the ps3 patch, but :grumpy:

Trust me you ain't the only one. People at the CM forum are going crazy over their PC patches, no.5 is coming tomorrow, and I/we are still waiting for a true PS3 patch. I am actually not playing the game (well not 24h/day like GT5) because there are so many errors in the game that it gets frustrating. But reading the CM forum, it seems that CM is listening to their gamers and fixing a lot of the known problems. Started a co-op with a friend, and the game freezes while I'm in the pit watching the others set their fast laps, happened several times so now we are on hold until a serious patch. Pretty disappointing!!

Edit: And let's not talk about the weather system!!!!!????!!!!! They should just have kept the same as in F1 2011, it worked even though it was "static".

Guys, I need you all to answer some questions since I'm interested in this game. I hope some of you are willing to take some time to share your opinions or thoughts over them 👍

1) I always liked F1 2010, I even started a new season today with Virgin because I've missed playing an F1 game so much. What's the biggest change I should be aware of when looking at F1 2012 in comparison to '10?

2) How is the performance? F1 2010 runs perfectly on my computer, will F1 2012 run the same with the same quality or even more? There were some fantastic lighting mods for F1 2010 that made the game look great, I am hoping the modding community will also create these for the new game.

3) Since my good old Logitech DFP retired a few months ago, I'm currently playing F1 2010 on the PC with my PS3 controller through Motioninjoy. Steering left stick, throttle and braking right analog stick. How is this game to play with a controller? So far F1 2010 seems to work just fine with a controller.

4) How is the difficulty? I always found F1 2010 too easy on the Legendary AI difficulty. Drove a pole-position lap in the Virgin car today on Pro difficulty with a controller in '10! I hope F1 2012 proves to be a challenge in this regard.

5) How's the physics? I've read some mixed reviews on F1 2012 so far. Personally I've always thought F1 2010's physics were really, really good. One could really get into a rythm and clocking consistently fast laptimes was a lot of fun! What's the major change between '10 and '12?

Can't come up with anything else as of right. In general, would you say F1 2012 is a major improvement on F1 2010 physics-wise, as well as the F1 immersion in itself as well? The graphics don't play such a big role. I'm playing F1 2010 on its best settings and I've always thought that game looks fantastic with some natural track lighting mods installed.

I guess the biggest points I'm asking after whether they have done anything over the 3 games to make you feel more involved into the F1 scene than the random 3 questions that you always got in F1 2010. And whether the physics haven't gotten worse because I really like F1 2010's feel.

@ Bram.

I've not even got it myself yet mate.
However there are a load of patches due or out for PC.
TBH I think your better off getting your answers post patch as we all know things can turn on there head with patches.

I decided to hold off this year until all patching is done.
I restarted my career twice in 2010/11 and thought I'd just wait for inevitable patches this year.

Experienced a bug at Canada, expected rain about 15 minutes in and for whatever reason after no warning from my engineer going round Turn 6 on Lap 3 the Heaven's opened with not a spec beforehand. There was no reduction in Grip at all and I pitted for Primes and then my Engineer said that there would be light rain coming in 5 minutes even though it was clearly bucketing it down!

Patch 6 for PC Players

F1 2012 – Latest Patch: PC 6

Today sees patch #6 available on Steam for PC versions of F1 2012.

This update addresses the following issues:

Made Pro level AI quicker so that the time gap to Legendary AI is smaller. We’re keen to get community feedback on this change.
Fixed the weather system so that
Cars will no longer start the race on the wrong tyres.
Cars will need to change to intermediate tyres when it has been raining with sufficient intensity.
Fixed a crash in Co-Op when disconnecting on the results screens.
Fixed an issue where the point’s totals on the Constructors Championship table were incorrectly doubled.
Medals awarded in season challenge now update the player statistics correctly.
The fixes listed above and those specific to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game are also being tested and verified on those platforms. As these versions require additional submission and authorisation from both Microsoft and Sony the release date for these will follow a little later than the PC version.

We are working on other issues you have reported via the forums, Facebook and Twitter and are working to fix them as quickly as possible. In the meantime, please note that we are still collecting feedback via our Technical Assistance forums and do encourage you to post your issues there being sure to include as much information as possible.

Thanks for your continued feedback!

Yesterday I was racing in Monaco, my first season.
In the race I took turn 7(Mirabeau Bas) a litte to fast and instead of chrashin into the barriers, I JUST WENT TROUGH THEM AND THEN FELL for about 10 seconds in to the black.. and after that system just put me back on the track again ? ! Anyone had that before ?

And did Codemasters react on people asking for the first PS3 update ..? Why all those updates on pc and none on PS3 ? And why PC goes first ...?

Because Sony, and Microsoft, have to approve the updates. That takes time. Be patient and all will be well.

Yep, exactly the same as my issue. To the extent of it taking me 10 minutes to realise the track was ACTUALLY wet yesterday. Track looked wet, but AI on prime tyres? Guess I'll try dry tyres then... Never stood a chance at Stowe. Intermediates then and computer will follow - nope they are still lapping on primes... And I repeat my accident at stowe. Fast forward time, computer still on primes, maybe it dried up? Nope... Getting frustrated now, I put on some wets and it sticks! So the track was acually wet this time! And what of the AI? After I had passed about 10 cars crawling around the circuit (in game time, we were now 25 minutes into a fully wet session) they all pitted and stuck wet tyres on... Helpful!

Still don't understand why race director has the race incidents screen as well, never seen anything there at all! Commnication is a little poor at times anyway, Vettel got a penalty in the last race but no idea why... Or why 5 cars retiring in probably a crash doesn't count as a race incident...

It only lists penalties and such, but for some reason, it never shows drive-through incurred by the AI (Example: Engineer tells me that car behind who ran into me has a drive-through, but nothing shows on the race incidents screen).

Unbelievable! The same thing happened again my Career although at Hungary this time. It appears that there is a bug in Wet/Dry Races.

Yep, weather is a mess. The last 3 races now have been wet/dry races as well and it's bothering me a lot that you can't just drive the conditions. Cost me yet more positions in Germany as the track dried the instant I passed the pitlane, allowing those behind to put dry tyres on and easily jump me.

Does anyone know what the symbols above the event name in the main hub mean? Some are diamond shaped, some are exclamation mark shape and some are like some sort of cog...?

Diamond means it's a prized event to win. Gear means there's a R and D test. Exclamation mark means there's a driver evaluation or something. There's a more info button. Press it. :P

Thanks!
I've literally been trying to find the answer to that for weeks.. Cheers now

I think F1 2010 was also plagued by it.

If the conditions were changing form a dry start, you could keep driving on dry tires until the track was flooded at which point you pitted, then you felt the track was wet. The AI was similarly bugged where they'd keep to post equally fast laptimes in moist conditions as in dry conditions, then when the track was flooded they suddenly drove 10 seconds a lap slower.

Seems the same kind of weather behaviour has been implemented in F1 2012.

Anyone has any experience with this? I'm struggling with Legendary on the xbox360, and I've got me a new system yesterday and thinking of trying it out for the pc. Professional is too easy..

So... finaly bought F1 2012 PC. Got it installed and activated via steam. Went to career and raced up to Monaco. Today i'm launching steam ->f1 2012 (as i did earlier) and my game profile and autosave file are gone :)

What to do now ? Does Steam "cloud" have backup save or something?

I don't want to race half of first season again ...

PS. I have made autosave option ON

My steam account still has informations about 20% unblocked awards.
