F1 201X - Updates & News DiscussionF1 2010-2016

After doing a few races i only feel a slight change in grip but not enough to make a huge impact. Hopefully i wont see rain in Bahrain this time.

Not impressed with the lighting for Singapore post-patch. It just looks like the brightness has been turned up too high. TV is properly calibrated and though this track was slightly too dark before, it was far more immersive than the over-brightened environment now.

Steering on my T500RS is now perfect with saturation at 65-70% and all else at 0%.

Try
Steering saturation 70%,
Steering Linearity 30%
& everything else 0

I am using everything the same as above except steering linearity which I play with 20 to 30%

So far so good; slight change in grip feel (closer to 2011 now) but good 👍

I have raced online since patch and online menu (in Lobby) is accurate now :dopey:👍

And dynamic weather is actually dynamic 👍

I tried a similar configuration to that, I put Steering saturation 66%,
Steering Linearity 20% Brake Saturation: 15% and 0% on other items. I'm still adjusting, but this configuration was similar to F1 2011. The problem is that the steering wheel F1 occasionally loses FFB and because of that I can not keep the car on the track. Anyone have this problem?
The strange thing is that I played the F1 2011 with CSW (before this update) and it was perfect, I will test the F1 2011 with this update (firmware 37) and if everything works correctly, maybe the problem is with F1 2012 (unsupported CSW !) Very sad ...
If this continues I will have to install the G27 again!
I need to test with GT5 ... but with two small children is very hard to play!

FMW
My current CSW set up is:
SEN: 320
FF: 100
SHO: off
ABS: 40
LIN: off
DEA: off
DRI: off
FOR: 150
SPR: 140
DPR: 160

In game:
Steering Deadzone: 0
Steering Saturation: 0
Steering Linearity: 0
Throttle Deadzone: 0
Throttle Saturation: 5
Brake Deadzone: 2
Brake Saturation: 10

I just loaded the update (1.02 North America, which according to Codemasters is 1.02 and 1.03 combined from the Europe updates released a while ago)
Anyway, the update did not ruin my CSW settings. Still feels good to me. If anything the center feels a tad tighter, but I'm still trying different tracks to confirm.
From what I've read G25/27 owners should have a better feeling wheel. I don't think FANATEC owners will notice much as they have more tuning options within the actual wheel. We'll see what the NA users who now have the patch feel about it...

Regarding the update: I played for about an hour before installing the update. After installing the update I ran the same track, car and set up. From what I've seen or noticed the grip level has changed slightly. The driving line grip seems to be wider...meaning the margin of error in getting your line right seems a tad wider. Some may like this, but I'm on the fence...I kind of liked the reward of getting your line just right to get in a good lap. If you dabbed slightly outside you paid a price.

With these settings I could not get on track. Very confusing! The G27 was just plug and play virtually ... Hopefully the Fanatec and Codimaters can work together to resolve this. CSW seems fantastic (a masterpiece), but still I could not realize this value.

Thanks

Got the game recently for PC and running on high graphics the game looks and sounds amazing. From my previous experience with 2011 I knew that the career mode wouldn't be great because of the AI driving and the weather system.

But wow, how can anyone play with that AI? When you do a benchmark graphics test you get to go on board with them and see how bad they really are. Every steering input is a full lock jerky twitch and they are forever twitching left to right. It gets better when the pack spreads out but at the start of a race it's unbearable.

I just tried to start a career mode, but after repeatedly being cut off by AI drivers while trying to qualify and getting a 10 place grid penalty for causing an accident I think i'll retire.

Well, I'll have to test some more for you, but with the settings I've posted I can get around the track very well. I am running set ups on the car that dramatically change the feel of the car. The stock in-game car set ups make the car feel floaty compared to a good track set up. Maybe that's what your experiencing....maybe.

Anybody else using a G27? Now the 1.02 patch has been implemented, the steering lock is now 900 degrees instead of the normal 270 which makes the game completely unplayable! Way to screw up Codies...

Yeah had the same problem. Very frustrating. Ended up reinstalling the game and not updating at all.

Guys you need to adjust your wheel settings. Saturation up to about 65% or so. Check Codemasters own official F1 2012 forum.

PS. Happy New Year :)

hi all, new to this forum and trying to find info on fanaleds operating on ps3, anybody know anything about that, maybe its just a rumour but trying my best to find out, thanks

fanaleds is a download/plugin that makes the led display on fanatec wheels function, its easy to install on pc but i seen a thread on this site that i cant find now stating that it can work on ps3

Not quite. The latest CSW base firmware V037 updates your base so it will now have LED functionality with PS3 games. Hence, if you have the BMW or F1 rim the LED's will now work with GT5 and F1 2012. I have not used the wheel in any other games other than those two, so I can't confirm if any other PS3 game supports the LED's.
Basically, the V037 firrmware looks to emulate the CSW base to Logitech G27 spec (which has LED functionality) rather than the previous G25 spec which did not have LED's.

Sandman,

What mods do you have installed?

I love that grosjean crash video. That's amazing!

I made a thread about HD mods on RD - you can find it here.

Sandman: if at all, which FXAA injector did you use? SweetFX? InjectFX? Could you post settings, if so? There's an HD track pack available on RD as well, check my thread if you didn't see it yet.

Thanks Mr. S. I'll check it out now. I have a bunch of mods installed but always looking for a more. So many of the mods are unbelievably awesome like The 2xHD car skins, that HD all un one track pack and maybe my favorite the realistic ffb mod on the using the realistic and light tarmac setting. Oh and fusion tires and storm weather.
