Gonna need more information here... as in how is your car set up? Are you b-spec the whole race? Pit strategy?

Most of the answers are gonna come like this:

Try pre-qualifying your b-spec driver so he starts on the pole...

Try doing the tranny trick (search= "tranny glitch" or "tranny trick") and leaving some more on the top end.

Manage your b-spec driver between 3 and 5 depending on if he/her is having problems in the corner sections or whatever. Watch to see if his/her slide indicator light is blinking on and adjust the aggression accordingly. Seems that most folks here have reported they need to closely manage their drivers in many of these races. IE: Not "fire and forget" like most enduros.

i beat it guys
i A-Speced New York
qualified for first and A-Speced the rest
the next race Grand Valley Speedway i B-speced that
qualified first and finished with a +3 lap
the one after Grand Valley
should i A-spec it or B-spec it?
my F1 setup is similar to the first few posts
how much should i increase the top speed on 7th gear?
i don't understand NoQuarter's explaination
the last step, set final back to the left so that the final gear is where u want it?
wtf does that mean?

I started yesterday in the F1 I won before.
I use A spec and B spec for each race. I didn't change anything about the settings. Won the first 3 races quite easily, made about 40% of each in A spec.
Here is my tactic :
1. I try to push hard first, and get out of the field, then take a consistant lead
2. I let my b'spec driver doing the rest, but I stay around, checking if he handles well.
3. I finish the race by myself, or take a relay when the gap decreases

On the first race my b spec driver seemed to be able to win it on his own, but on the next 2, he surely could not. At new york, he just blasted the gap I earned, and I was obliged to take the last relay to be sure to win the race. My times are between 2 and 5 seconds better than the AI.

I think you don't need to change the settings, of course it should help, but it can be done without it, especially if you do it in a-spec. Using b-spec from time to time is useful in order to recover concentration and to reduce the overall time of the races. But like others before, I would recommend you to check if your b spec driver doesn't put the mess around !

Hope it helps.

COULD SOMEONE PLEASE CLARIFY!!!

LONG LIVE THE TWIDDLERS!!! 👍

Good Job! I'm finding portions of this game a bugger with the DS2 and usually the challenges for the DS2 and me include both the FGT and LMP cars. Nice to see someone accomplish this!

Maybe I'm struggling with control on the DS2 cause I'm gettin' old... hmmm...

Changing between Aspec and B spec is done as you enter the pits. A menu comes up which at the bottom shows what you are currently in. Use the down D pad button to scroll down to it and then the right d pad button to toggle between A and B Spec. (check the manual as it actually does tell how to do it and will ensure i have remembered the correct buttons).

It means just what it says... play with it on a test track of your choice and move the final back until the shiftpoints and top end are where you like to drive. Just don't mess with the autoset... leave it all the way left. Only adjust the final. Go play with it, you will see the difference. 👍

I'm redoing this championship with the F1 car(i already won it once with the Playstation Pescarolo LMP car). And i have made it to Laguna Seca so far with my B-Spec driver winning everything without any trouble. However i ran into a very strange glitch/bug that cost me the race at that track. My B-Spec driver was doing really well with a 30 sec. gap to the car in 2nd place. Then he went in for his 4th pitstop and when he came out he drove really weird. He was constantly braking. He would accelerate to 150 km/h and then brake,he would repeat that for the entire lap.He lost the lead and now had a 20 sec. gap to the car in 1st.I decided to bring him in for another stop, wich cost me another 20 sec. and i had to catch that guy myself. After i drove for about 10 laps i went to pit again and switched to B-Spec.He drove fine after that.It was really strange,i have never had that happen before or seen anyone who had it happen to them.

Is the Sauber Mercedes '89 worth winning? 15 races, 60-130 laps.

Well, winning the championship is great, but don't do it just for the car. There are at least five that are the equal or better than the C9 (R8, BMW LMR, Speed 8, both Pescarolos), and the Minolta Toyota is significantly better. If you need a fast LM car, B-Spec spam the DTM race and buy an R8, Bimmer, or Pesky.

Yes, the C9 is fast, but in stock form it has high-speed stability problems that the newer cars and the Toyota don't have. I'm sure we'll come up with setups that will stabilize the C9, but for now the other cars are a better choice.

You don't need to mod your car to beat the other F1's!! All I did was take pole position before the start of each race (minus Nurburgring............I just suk while on that track) then I "drove" the first portion of the races (to gain distance and lap the rest) then let the B-spec'er take control!
I had to do a 50/50 on the Motegi cause B-spec was a bit worthless (she drove like granny and pitted every 10 where as I lapped the second car every few turns and pitted every 20 laps)!

I can't believe most of you say it was easy when u guys B-Spec the race with over 6000 B-Spec points. I am over 50% of the game and only have 2500 B-Spec points, and I know my B-Spec driver won't come close to winning the F1 Championship. So I started the championship last night, 5 races in and won all 5 by 5 laps or more only using A-Spec, it's alot more satisfying winning in A-Spec. Plus each race is wroth 60 A-Spec points. Next race up is Sarthe I, I know I can win this as I have done the race before as a single race to see how I went. So after 6 races I will be on 60 points and have got a total of 360 A-Spec points out of the championship.

Old Geezer
 eastley! IMHO you're going about it the Right Way! 👍
(& I don't for One Second believe your Sig Line! :irked: )...O.G. :D

Sarthe I wasen't as easy this time around, I had a plan and I stuck to it..
In the Sarthe Race they AI CPU drivers pitted every 3 laps, and with the way I drive I was able to pit every 4 laps.

So lets do the sums, lets say 40 seconds a pit stop, that counts loss of momentum (in and out of pits) and the pit stop it's self. Now that 40 seconds is maximum ok.

The race is 23 laps long.
CPU drivers time wasted by pitting 7 times: 280 Seconds (4'40 Minutes)
My time wasted pitting 5 times: 200 Seconds (3'20 minutes)
Difference is: 80 Seconds (1'20 minutes)

I won by just over 1 lap, say about 3'30

3'30 - 1'20 = 2'20 Minutes

CPU average time was about 3'21 mine was about 3'11, my fastest lap was a 3'04.163 (surprised myself).

So in theory I was only 2'20 ahead but because of my pit strategy I managed to lap them, and win the race by that 3'30.

So for all you guys having a little trouble go practice Sarthe I in your Formula GT car and get a average lap about 3'15 and make your tires last 4 laps before pitting and you should win. And do this trick for every track, even watch the Demo and work out when they pit if you have to, and check there lap times so you know what you have to do. Even if you can't win every race but you can win the series go ahead and do it then complete the races you didn't win when ever you feel like it.

It just shows what can be gained in lasting one more lap before pitting. This type of strategy works on most courses. Although in the next race Côte d'Azur I cannot outlast there pitting, I pit 2 laps before them so I have to rely on sheer speed, and it looks like I am going to win by about 2 laps.

Just my 2 cents worth guys :)

I was having a similar problem at this track and I found I could actually run longer and, believe it or not, faster around the track by stretching out my gears more and sort of lugging the thing around the track. 👍

Your post is really worthwhile imput by the way... good information!

Mr. Man
where and when do get to race the f1 races what do i have to do to race them

thanks for the help

In the fact sheets etc at the top of the GT4 thread there is a whole bunch of good information available on this. For example, I think Famine posted a really well put together Excel sheet on the races and requirement that you will find under the "Look here before you ask" thread.

Specifically addressing your question, once you get through beginner and professional halls, you are able to enter the extreme hall where you will find the F1 races. To race in them requires the right license and most folks are having the best luck using an F1 car although some seem to be good enough to win the races with LMR cars. You win an F1 car from the 24 hour endurance race at Nurburgring.

Good luck in the rest of the game and in not getting flamed... 👍

JUST QUALIFIED HIM FOR FIRST PLACE AT EVERY RACE.
So so sos so so true....I got up to race 7 and then quit cos my bspec driver is a ****ing retard...doesnt overtake doods, just sits behind them...I win the races that I get into the lead early, but otherwise if I am not winning by lap20...its quit time....

I broke my controller today I was so bloody frustrated with this stupid championship.....
