F1 Championship

So so sos so so true....I got up to race 7 and then quit cos my bspec driver is a ****ing retard...doesnt overtake doods, just sits behind them...I win the races that I get into the lead early, but otherwise if I am not winning by lap20...its quit time....

I broke my controller today I was so bloody frustrated with this stupid championship.....

LMAO, u have to quit cause you want 100% win ratio.. LMAO Loser. And I think the championship is great but a little to long. Either cut the number of laps down or races, either way. I got totally bored with it with 12 races finished.

There's no way I'm going to A-Spec it, I just don't have the time and the patience to do that. I figured I'd just B-Spec it and read this book I have to read for english.

B-Specing alone won't do it. It takes time but you have to do a portion of the racing in A-Spec because humans are more aggressive than the CPU's. I was B-Specing on High Speed Ring and my driver consistently lost time which forced me to take over at every other pit to increase the distance. Also, random "run offs" seem to occur which forces you to moniter the races. That's not to say you can't B-Spec certain races and still win, but it's a risky proposition when you can go from first to last in the blink of an eye.

Am doing this one right now. I'm in the lead with 130 points after 13 races. Do it in B-spec though, well, most of it. In A-spec, I'm 4-6 secs faster than the others. That's a pity. Otherwise I would have done it A-spec, definately. Maybe I'll try this one with my Minolta Toyota or so in A-spec, to look what I can do with that car in this championship.

But with la Sarthe they keep crashing of the track, have driven most of that race myself, because my B-spec driver kept crashing into the wall at the straight. When I took over, I was 8 secs faster or so per lap. But even the Nurburgring, I got pole there, while I didn't drive very quickly, and I spun off the track once. Still was 5-6 secs faster than the others. Wished the AI was much better. But the AI seems to be challenging in Arcade with the AI speed put to 8 or so. Will do that after the next 2 races in the Formula GT Cup.

At High Speed Ring I had laptimes of about 53-54 secs, the AI had laptimes of about 57-58 secs, and my b-spec driver had laptimes of about 56 secs. So, didn't have any probs with my driver there. But in B-spec, watch out with Laguna Seca. The corner after the chicane they crash a lot into the gravel, both you and the other cars. Just put the pace of your car there at 1 (Slow Pace) and you'll be fine.:)

I got a question....
to win the Sauber do you have to do all 15 races in a row? I ask because at the start of the F1 championship I was 92.5% done the game, I raced the first 4 (A-spec) and won each but then had to shut off the PS2, when I turn it back on it now says im 93.3% done the game because of those 4 races. So can I just do the races individually and win each race to get the car (minus the 3 mil prize winning the champ.)?

Also,
my B-spec driver has like 6300 points or so, but today I tried to B spec some races with my orange F1 car and got absolutely killed, im not sure what to do :indiff:
If someone could give me some pointers or something, that would be appreciated. I dont even know where to go to qualify, ive never attempted to qualify before haha.

To win the Sauber, you need to complete the "Championship". You can stop and save and shut down the PS after completion of a race in the series. It should come back up to the next race in the series next time you turn it on. Just don't quit the series, leave it active.

To qualify, just one icon to the left of the setup toolbox at the start of the race is the practice icon. If you click in there, you are in qualify and it indicates your qualifying status in a box in the top left area of the screen. First lap is a warm up lap and then you are qualifying at the start of the second lap. Once you qualify to the point you want to start in the grid, exit out of there and start the race.

The general consensus I have seen around the forum is that no matter how good your b-spec driver is, most all need to qualify him/her/it first on the pole and then manage him/her/it throughout the race to get a b-spec win.

Dude I could kiss you!!!!!!!
hahah
seriously thanks man
I never knew you could shut down the PS2 while still logged into the championship and still be in it when you turn it back on
thats gonna save me loads of time!!!
Thank you so much man, seriously, you have no idea.

As long as you realize the specific steps are:

1- Finish the race you are in
2- Exit back to your home (the ps2 will tell you you are currently in the series)
3- Save inside your home
4- Then shut off the ps2

At no time say yes to any options to quit the series!

Then 👍

As for the kissing part... I'm glad we are behind our respective computer screens  It does make me feel good to know I've been helpful 👍 thanks!

It's a new feature in GT4. Make sure you press the Triangle button and get back to the main page before shutting down. The "Save Game" happens there. You will see a message if the top right corner stating you're in the middle of a championship race.

when you exit the extreme hall into the big map with the different halls it auto saves anyways doesnt it? I know there is a flashing text in the top right corner when you are still entered in a championship series, but Ill go to home and save it there again just to be safe

whats really crappy is I did the first 4 races but then shut it off without saving because I thought you needed to do all 15 races in one sitting and lost them, ugh, 4 hours down the drain, I guess ill just qualify on the pole for them and B-spec those ones.

i've just finished this series (see write up "Racing Schumacher's Granny" in the Write Ups section)

Its very easy to "a" spec (apart from the 'ring, LOL), slightly harder to "b" spec depending on which tracks u do

I "a" specd 10 races, "b" specd 5

The AI is absolutely useless, same as the rest of GT4!! The 'ring is only hard cos its such a narrow, bumpy track

If i were to do this in A-spec over a few days/week, would I be able to turn my PS2 off and save the progress? Or is it adeal with leaving it on after a race and coming back the next day without shutting the PS2 off?

It was more clear in GT3, and I haven't found a "save progress" for championships. Please help me :D

Even after you win this series there is no way to unlock a option which allows you to buy different tires??? I'd really like the option to see how well it reacts on different tires.

This is amazing that you ask this question!!!

You are like post #101 in this thread- Did you read from post #95 through post #98??? They end only like 3 posts up from where you asked this and they deal with this question.

it can be done in a few hours with b spec. yea nurburing was kind of a pain but my driver still pulled it off despite making some mistakes. he has around 6200 points.

Is 100 points the most you can get for expericience points in B-Spec skill??
Do the battle, track skill, etc. e go more than a 100 right now I have this order of skills

87 for the first one i forget the name
85 for track skill
and 90 for battle skill
can these go past 100??

thx

These seem to be the numbers I've seen floating around 10,000 100/100/100... Haven't seen where anyone has gotten more, then again, I haven't seen everything :)

Take the F1 with Arcade mode, then you can choose tyres and then you can even upgrade the F1 to 1000+ BHP with Quick Tune.:)

I'm redoing this championship with the F1 car(i already won it once with the Playstation Pescarolo LMP car). And i have made it to Laguna Seca so far with my B-Spec driver winning everything without any trouble. However i ran into a very strange glitch/bug that cost me the race at that track. My B-Spec driver was doing really well with a 30 sec. gap to the car in 2nd place. Then he went in for his 4th pitstop and when he came out he drove really weird. He was constantly braking. He would accelerate to 150 km/h and then brake,he would repeat that for the entire lap.He lost the lead and now had a 20 sec. gap to the car in 1st.I decided to bring him in for another stop, wich cost me another 20 sec. and i had to catch that guy myself. After i drove for about 10 laps i went to pit again and switched to B-Spec.He drove fine after that.It was really strange,i have never had that happen before or seen anyone who had it happen to them.

This is a very late reply but I just came across it. I was searching to see if there is a known problem with b-specing the 'ring.

I encountered the same thing. I qualified first and started in A-spec. After having a decent lead I switched to B-spec. A couple laps later I noticed I was losing ground fast. I switched to the in-car view and the B-spec driver was braking in the middle of straights. Basically he was driving like he was stuck behind a slower car.

So.... who else has had this happen?

Tomorrow I've decided to finally do this 15 race monstrosity. So what I wanna know is what'd you do to win? I can win Tokyo on B-Spec but I can get past sixth place on the Motegi Oval. Are there settings you can recommend or somthing else that would help me out?

Here is the answer on how to win!!

Before every race qualify(go to practice) and get warmed-up with the track
get comfortable and loose so youre ready

now start the race with ASPEC
do it until u pit then change to bspec
it will work

And I think the championship is great but a little to long. Either cut the number of laps down or races, either way. I got totally bored with it with 12 races finished.

I was going to suggest that this series be copiedf for the LM cars ie have a F1 series and LM series on same tracks and same distances. This would double your pain.

I think it sucks that there are not medium length races for LM cars at Sarthe.

But then you have to put up with the horrible crap tacular stock F1 setup
To bad PD doesn't allow us to tinker with the F1 in GTmode :(

good advice there, this is how I did it also, Aspec is the way forward in this series.....

Completed first for races so far.
Started from position 2 and B specced all race 1 , winning by 20 seconds.
Started first place, ran first 50 laps in B spec, was 1 lap down. A specced the rest and won by 4 laps. Was able to run quick laps even with red front left tire. Side note. AI seem pit twice on succesive laps when I was driving on red tires. (heard this happening before and it seems it is true).
Race 3 . Start 1st. Run in B spec all race and win by 40 secs.
Race4. Start 1st. B Spec first 10 laps. Cannot build lead at pace four and a lot slower than me. I take over for 20 laps and can lap field. I again stay out with red front tire and AI double pit again. I Bspec rest of race at speed 3 and win by a lap.
Best B spec lap 5 seconds slower than my best. My worst time on red fronts faster than best B spec and AI times.

With qualifying at Nordschleife do you finish your qualifying lap on red tires as I have heard tires tend to last less than 2 laps.

Last night I finished the F1 series (mainly on B-Spec).

I quit out of Nordschleife as I did not qualify and it looked like a lost cause. If I knew then what I know now I would not have quit. Anyway.

This morning I decided to do some testing and re run Nordschleife (again with no qualifying). B-Spec all the way. Won by 59 secs.

Here is what I did.

Tested for approx gear settings (using the autoset). When I settled on the one that redlined at the end of the straight I dropped it down 1 but lengthened 6 and 7. This is due to a theory of mine that B-Spec Bob prefers slightly shorter gears than A-Spec.

I then got radical with the suspension setup. Max ride height. Springs at 16 and Bound at 5s, Rebound at 6s. Downforce front max, rear 1 down from max. If I was to have my time again I would have changed the brake balance towards the rear but I had 6/6. Front tyres wore out a lot earlier than back. I would try 5/7.

I then did some testing by B-Speccing at 3 and 4 to see where B-Spec Bob had problems. Strange thing is he had no probs.

On to the race. I left him on 3 for about 30 secs and then switched to 4. He got into 3rd place but then stayed 16 secs back and spun out. After that I left him on 3 all the way.

I pitted every 2 laps which is not what most people recommend but I left him on 3 and he was fine (only 2 spins whole race).

I only took on the fuel I needed for 2 laps.

AI cars spun enough to give me a 59 sec victory. In early laps it looks like a lost cause but I let him go and it worked out well.

Use max downforce on every track, you can go that much faster through the corners that it makes up for the difference in top speed. (Plus you can still draft if need be) Also, I set rear toe to -1 and on tokyo I managed to drive 10 laps without pitting where the AI only did 9. This allowed me to drive without them in my way and even though I ended up pitting every 9 laps aswell the AI couldnt touch me.
