F1 Championship

With qualifying at Nordschleife do you finish your qualifying lap on red tires as I have heard tires tend to last less than 2 laps.
This is why you drive real slow for that warm up lap and make sure the tires are hardly worn at all.

Use max downforce on every track, you can go that much faster through the corners that it makes up for the difference in top speed.

I A-Spec'd the entire fifteen race series and I used less than max downforce up until the Nurburgring in order to get more A-Spec points per race. I realized that I couldn't keep the F1 on the 'Ring without max down force and I just kept it that way for the remaining races. Five days IRL was enough play time for me and I just wanted to get the series over with.

I haven't finish PRO hall yet. So I'm not there yet.

In my opinion, there is no chance it (Escudo Pikes Peak) will win when you look at the pwr to weight ratio.

Even if you mod. to the max (If is allow to use other than F1's). Your front tires will be all worn out (before they pit) and you will have a hard time keeping up in the corners.

👍 True, true

When i did this event(i left it til last) i only ended up having to do 9 races due to the finishing positions of the other cars i had enough points to skip the last 6 races and finished on 90 pts. with still a 12 point lead. I am not one for keeping 100% win ratio. To go into each race knowing your gonna win is a bit pointless in my mind. I was a bit surprised on the sauber. I thought it would be better then it actually was.

I was disappointed with the Sauber, too. However, now that I'm 5 hours into the 24 hours of Le Mans, I'm beginning to appreciate it more. The handling and braking takes some getting used to but the speed of the car after the turbo lag is pretty spectactular.

Shift as much drive as you can to the rear wheels (I think 50%)

Then how can you be at 100 percent in GT4 if you didn't win each race in the series. I remember in GT3, I had to go back and win the individual races in the series that I HAD won in order to get 100 percent. Is GT4 different. Does winning the series, and not all of the races in the series, allow you to get 100 percent in GT4.

Be prepared for relentless AI if you A-Spec. If you B-Spec, it should pretty much be a cakewalk, as long as you monitor the B-Spec driver...no fire & forget, especially at tracks like Laguna Seca (everyone will go off track) and Nürburgring.

Adjust the tranny for each track. I use the tranny glitch (search for that) and leave just a bit at the top end for drafting opportunities.

I also set the Ride Height at about 50/50...slamming the car does not work for the Formula cars. They need suspension travel to work. I set the Bound/Rebound at 6/6 each, which works for my driving style (aggressive, late apex turns)

I also eliminated the rear toe, and set the camber to 2.5/1.0...once again that's what works for me.

Do not radically adjust the brake settings. I went to 4/4 from 3/3 because I brake very late on turns.

Obviously, max downforce, which is the default.

When driving, be cautious to not arbitrarily lift in a turn. The front tires have the best "bite" under constant acceleration, and a lift can cause the front end to wash out...very annoying at high speed.
I'm a mere Englishman could this be translated? I want to do this championship in 'B spec' but my GT4 polyphony car doesn't seem to be man enough to do it even though I have a high 'b spec' score. Some of the North American terms you have used are unfamiliar to me. Thanks

Just out of curiousity, why would you want to b-spec the F-1 races. The intensity is so awesome, it was my favorite part of GT3 and I just started it in GT4 around midnight last night after I finished the 24 hr N-ring enduro. I couldn't emagine passing up this series.

Although, when all is said and done, I think I am going to find that Mission 34 will have been a better challenge then the F-1 series.

I can't beleive how easy this series is. I have not made any adjustments to my F-1 car that I won in the N-ring enduro and I've done 8 races so far and have come in first on every one, sometimes by a full lap. Very dissappointing. I got in three spin-outs in the first lap if La Sarthe ( I am not used to that corse and didn't realize how easy it was to spin out) putting me 35 seconds behind after the first lap and still won no problem.

That is so true. If you B-spec driver starts at the end, there will ALWAYS be a couple of really slow opponents blocking him. In the meantime, the 1st AI are is pulling farther and farther away! By the time you driver makes it to 3rd or 2nd place, eventhough he may be faster, there may not be enough laps remaining to win :guilty:

...yes, this is that bad part about B-Specing from the back, besides that fact that B-Spec Bob never takes the car up to 100% of full speed (say on the 'Ring) he has a hard time getting around the slower cars in front of him.... qualify in first and you should have NO problems what so ever....

I would like to help but am unsure what exactly is it you aren't understanding about what he said?

Secondly: Trust me when I tell you the car is capable enough. The problem is likely in the 'b spec' driver. When you say, high 'b spec' score, what is that number? Are you qualifying the 'b spec' driver first on the grid before starting the race? Can't help without more information.

AMEN.

Why anyone would B-spec this championship is absolutely baffling to me. As someone more clever than me has put it elsewhere on this forum: B-Spec - for those who want to complete a driving game without driving.

Equally meaningful: A-Spec for those who have nothing else better to do for 24 straight hours.

💡 C'mon, they each have their purpose. Either use it or don't. I could care less how other people choose to enjoy the game. For the record, my A-Spec mileage far outweighs my B-Spec mileage. 👍

Can you actually qualify to gain pole position? If so how?
Hi pompey88:
If you're running the Formula GT SERIES just go to "Practice." You'll get one "Warm-Up" Lap and as many timed laps as you need.

HOWEVER: PD has opted NOT to allow qualifying if you enter the races individually! :irked: A MAJOR Omission IMO! ...O.G. :D

Thanks O.G yeah thats bad because i have won the series but haven't got gold on 3 indivdual races! 👎

Having completed the first nine races in the F-1 series, I now understand why someone would use b-spec. In some of the races, I was a full lap ahead after less than half the race. Seemed meaningless to a-spec it the rest of the way out.

Just trying to get gold in the last few races i realised the AI cars were gaining at least 1 second on me when we all pit. Even though i fill my tank to half full, they still gain time on me.

This is really annoying and nothing i can do about it or can you? - this doesnt help when you are only a second ahead like La sarthe :nervous:

Is this A-spec or B-spec ?

In either case I think you may need to look at your car's setup especially gears. There are plenty of threads that include F1 setups. The best ones I have found raise the car by 5-10mm and slightly lower all of the suspensions rates (only slightly). Turn down or off the driving aids. Turn up the braking power (I used 5/5 but some use 4/4).

The critical one is gears. Most recommend using gears such that you redline at the end of the main straight. I actually have a different theory but this method will get you very close to the ideal.

Some tweak the LSD as well.

With these setup changes the F1 series is very easy.

The exceptions are Super Speedway where downforce may need to be changed, pit strategy is critical ie stay out longer than B-spec Bob wants to and do not take on more fuel than necessary.

High Speed Ring is similar but easier to win.

Laguna in B-Spec requires tweaking the speed setting. I did most of the lap on 4 but turned it down to 2 at the corkscrew until the start of the pit striaght.

Nordschleife required raising the ride height to max and slightly reducing suspension rates. I left it on 2 and watched the AI cars all get into strife. I pitted every 2 laps and did not run into problems. It looked like I would not win early in the race but be patient and manage the fuel load.

how about re-running the series & skipping the races you have won until you get to the ones you haven't, you can then qualify as normal. You won't win the championship - but will will be able to qualify for the golds you've missed

I did go back and do the races, doing 9 races in a row instead of 15 meant i could go do some other races in my new sauber then go back to the F1 championship and finish them off one by one..👍
