well ferrari will have to put up or shut up this weekend...hopefully their F2005 wont dominate like they have been the past few years...and you know its surprising how large their budget is considering they only produce about 4800 cars per year...alot of people are saying they should drop out of F1 and let Maserati take over their team as they need the exposure and they produce double the amount of cars that Ferrari produces...plus i think someone was telling me their parent company Fiat isnt doing so well these days...

A lot of those people who are saying that are wrong. Ferrari belong in F1. To me, it wouldn't be right if F1 didn't have Ferrari.

yes i agree with you...F1 wouldnt be the same without Ferrari...i must say i like them alot i just wish they wouldnt dominate as much or, as a Ferrari fan would say, the other teams would do their jobs...

Exactly, it's not Ferrari's fault no one can keep up with them (in 2004 at least), everyone else should be producing better cars. Mind you Ferrari test more than anyone else by a long shot, but that isn't against the rules.

your right its not against the rules but it does mean they have an advantage not shared by the others which im sure plays a big part in their dominance...until everyone (including Ferrari) sign an agreement on testing Ferrari may continue to dominate but i dont see that happening in the forseeable future...and to be honest i cant say i blame them...if you had a track on the grounds of your facility would you sign an agreement limiting its use?...of course not! its your property you can and should be able to use it as much as you like...so it is a dilemma...

Really it's in the other teams interest if they get semi-permanet access to a track so they can test like Ferrari, because Ferrari aren't suddenly going to say "Ok, we'll only use our two tracks for 30 days a year" .... it just ain't going to happen.

Blake

exactly my point...they will never agree to a testing ban...

your right it would be ideal if the other teams could have that kind of access to a track but i dont see how that would be possible...they would need lots of $ and if say mclaren decided to build a track on site everyone would frown upon it as they are trying to reduce testing and what not...i think it would just be too much of a hassle because of the cost and the FIA getting pissy about it...

i remember reading about maktoum when he was trying to buy jordan to make it dubai f1 and there was talk that they would build a track adjoining their facilities with some sort of underground tunnel linking this new track to the factory floor...sounded great but the cost would be enormous...

What if the other 9 teams all pitched in and bought/built a track together, and they each got an equal share of it throughout the year ... Also, I'm guessing Minardi couldn't handle the cost of that, so for 8 teams that would be 45 days a year of testing IF no more than one team was ever on a track during a day, but lets assume there were always 2 teams at the track every day (of course for practicality there would probably be more than that) that's at least 90 days of testing per year, per team. Would the cost of 1/8 of a race track be worth that 90+ days of testing a year? If so it would probably be a good idea if the teams invested in a shared race track.

thats a good idea if F1 politics wouldnt get in the way and the team principles could actually agree to something like that...but for some teams it would always have to be a decent trip as not all of them are in england...its do-able but i would be very surprised if it could even be discussed let alone accomplished...they would have to agree on a site which would probably make it not too close for anyone so they would lose what ferrari have at the start...it would probably raise costs significantly as everyone would be shipping cars and personnel there all the time unless they could have some sort of team garages kept on site...then there is the problem of everyone thinking everyone else is spying on their technology or data etc...in an ideal world a great idea, in our world it may be easier said than done...

Exactly, it's a good idea, but unfortunatly there are so many aspects of practicality that get in the way.
