Yeah I did, when you rotate the camera his back is always to you. Eh, I'm nitpicking.

Anyone feel that sneaking is hard. Man, you really have to approach slowly and from the right angle.
Hold L2, and use R3 to rotate the camera. You have to fiddle with R3 (back/forth and left/right), but eventually you'll get to see your character from the front.

Sneaking becomes easier as your skill increases. In addition, turn off your PipBoy light, realize that it is easier to stay [HIDDEN] when it is dark, and try to stay in the shadows as much as possible.

How do themes actually work, when you buy more than one? I bought one before, just to see what it was, but haven't bought one to keep. I ask 'cause I understand that some themes will come with Skill Books. What happens to my old theme when I buy a new one?

You lose your old theme as Moira swaps the House: ... Theme item out. Any new items you left there remain there. Any items that came with the theme vanish. I don't know if the state of the theme is saved though if you decide to buy it back later.

I have TONS of Raider armor, ****snip****
I know that you made a comment a while back about wanting to play as a character with Good Karma. I am playing through this game again because I finished it before the Trophy Patch came out, and I couldn't earn even one trophy with the first character. However, even with that Very Good Karma character, I got a kick out of placing Raider Sadist Armor in the inventory of the named NPCs in the game, and although I lost some Karma, it wasn't ever enough to lower my rating from Very Good.

My present character is Evil. She is at Level 14, and became Evil by stealing everything she possibly could. I found it much easier to obtain the three Karma related trophies at Level 8 and Level 14 by playing as an Evil character. Get within a few points of the required XP total for the next level, SAVE, and level up as an Evil character to earn one trophy, but DON'T SAVE. Reload, go to the Rivet City Church and donate just enough money to become Neutral, level up, and earn the second trophy, but DON'T SAVE. Reload, go to the Rivet City Church and donate enough money to become Good or Very Good (probably not necessary), level up, and earn the third trophy. You can then reload the original save and continue playing without actually having spent one single cap.

Oh, and I keep hearing these loud "BOOMS!" when I play the game. Are those weapons going off? I read that an 'alien spaceship' crash lands while you're in the Wasteland, and wanted to know if that was it. Do I follow where the noise came from and look for a crash site? I understand you can get a different 'alien blaster' if you find it.
There are numerous locations throughout the Wasteland where you will come across a Random Encounter. Keep in mind that once that you have 'activated' a Random Encounter at any particular location, and then saved your game, it won't change again. There were some Random Encounters that I never experienced during my first play through. On my second play through, for example, I made a save on the hillside a little ways to the west of the Super Duper Mart before I had ever visited the place. I reloaded this save many times and then approached the Super Duper Mart. I saw the Firelance encounter twice during this experiment. It was during daylight hours, and it consisted of a loud explosion, a cloud of black smoke up in the sky, and then Alien Power Cells and the Firelance in the parking lot in front of the building, with a slight radiation level that lasted only a minute or so. I understand from reading various posts throughout the web that this event is a bit more spectacular during the night time. I have that weapon on my first character, but never used it because it is overpowered, and ammo is very scarce. I was looking for one particular Random Encounter, which I finally got, but I saw many others in between....some of which I had never seen before.

You've probably already been to the Super Duper Mart, so try to find one of the other Random Encounter locations that you've never visited before, and perform your own experiment. By the way though, I know from experience that the Firelance encounter can be missed if it happens during the daytime. On my first play through, I heard this very loud boom while walking near the north end of the Jalbert Brothers Waste Disposal Site, didn't see anything dramatic at the time, and many real days later found the ammo and weapon near the entrance to the facility.

Where can I download this Winona Ryder add-on? ;)
Well, unlike Ms. Ryder, my character has not been caught while shoplifting. Since it is my second play through, I am trying to max out all her skills. She's just barely into Level 15, 152 Skill Books read, Big Guns at 100, Tagged Skills in the 90's, and everything else at 70 or above. I don't really see much use for Melee Weapons, Unarmed, Barter, or Speech, but I'm going to try to max those out as well.

I've not touched Melee Weapons or Unarmed. I find Speech can be useful. Barter? Well it does something, unlike unarmed, because you never are unarmed.

keep in mind that having Dogmeat with you during one of the possible firelance encounters can make it very easy to find the gun and the ammo, plus since the ammo glows you can usually spot it much easier at night.

Power fists and deathclaw gauntlets count as unarmed. I raised barter in my first playthrough, but it turned out pointless with all the money I raked in. Your mileage may vary though, since it depends on your play style. I rarely fired a bullet unless I knew it would connect.

The only exception was grenade-toting baddies. You bet I'll use all my AP for the 22% to hit on that grenade in the hand just to watch the guy explode.

I'm definitely using the DC gauntlet a lot more this time around even though I haven't added a single point to the skill while leveling up. It was a blast to clear out evergreen mills using a combination of sneak and claws. I got about a level and a half out of that alone! Plus it has a very large "creepy and cool" factor

As I've stated before, I am on my second play through and I am trying to max out all of my characters skills. I was playing this game a while ago, when I made some calculations, and immediately realized that I might have messed up. I sent the following message as a PM to one of the Community Managers at Bethesda:

"I'm on my second play through of Fallout 3 on the PS3, and I decided that I wanted to max out all of my character's skills (all skills at 100). I followed my own notes, a topic on this site, and other resources on the internet to get as many Skill Books as possible early on. My character is presently Level 15, has already obtained 19 Bobbleheads (need the Energy Bobblehead), has read 215 Skill Books, has six (6) Skills at 100, and only needs 95 Skill Points total to max out the other seven (7) skills.

I am able to distribute 23 Skill Points per level up. Unless my calculations are incorrect, I believe that I will have a total of 115 Skill Points available for distribution between my present Level, and when I reach Level 20, which means that I will have left-over Skill Points when I reach Level 20. I am now starting to worry about what is going to happen when I reach Level 20, and I am not able to dispense of all of the available Skill Points.

I'm wondering if I'll be able to disburse only the necessary points, have unused points left over, and still be able to continue on to the screen where you select your final Perk???? I don't believe that it is possible to hit the SQUARE Button and continue beyond the Skill Point Distribution Screen if you have not allotted all of the available Skill Points. Do you know if anyone else has experienced this situation yet, and if so, what happens when you reach Level 20 with TOO MANY Skill Points to distribute? Unless the mechanics are programmed differently at the Level 20 Level-Up than they are at the other Level-Ups, I do believe that I might have messed up...big time.

Any response would be greatly appreciated."

I received an email within two minutes of sending the PM, providing a link to this response:

"The issue of not being able to go beyond the screen when you've maxed out your skills is something that our team is aware of. I'll ask for some information from the team. Sounds like you're not quite to that point yet.

If I hear something I'll let you know.
"

So apparently they are aware that this is a problem, and hopefully they will be able to fix it with a future patch. I am not very excited about my character at the present time.

I just left the 'citadel' and have a black chic Paladin fighter following me.

What should I do, just tell her to stay put in my home in Megaton while I roam around?

Is she helpful?

Does she die easily?

I figure I should just let her chill in my crib, and only use her when I need her, but don't really know when that is.

Reached level 14 and finished over half the 'Main Quests' so I'm off to start a few side quests. I don't think I should bring her along, TBH. I think I might need her to finish the final Main Quest, or something.

Oh, and I finally saw the crashing alien space ship and found quite a few alien power cells, but never found the space ship. Is there one, always?

Still having fun, but getting bored and annoyed. Plus, the game froze on me again, and my character got stuck causing me to reset my game and start over from my last save. Good thing I save often.

The alien ammo cache and the alien ship crash site are two different places.

Star Paladin Cross is supposed to be as strong as Fawkes if you give her the proper weapons. You'll have to supply her the ammo though. I was playing a goodie two shoes, but I still do evil stuff from time to time. I thought she made life less flexible, so I let her go.

She also killed off Dogmeat when she wanted to join Charon and me. I went back to my house and Dogmeat was gone. He wasn't at Vault 101 either. Crummy trade. :(

Wait a minute, she has no weapon? What a jip! I cannot believe I have to supply her with a weapon, and ammo, I assume. Oh well, no biggie, since I still have about 60 Sydney's SMGs in my locker.

I found out I can use her to carry stuff for me. I see a great scavenge hunt to Bethesda Ruins shortly with her. 👍

What's a good place to scavenge for good stuff?

She has her own weapons, but I don't find a super sledge and an energy pistol to be all that devastating. Give her a rocket launcher with rockets, and stand clear! :D

Try the Capitol Building. You should have enough firearms to equip a personal army. Without spoiling anything, you might not want to take a minion with you inside until you take care of some business though. You could clean out Paradise Falls too if you wanted to. I just sat back with the popcorn and watched Fawkes go at it. Cross could probably do it if you gave her something potent and a pile of stimpaks.

Talon Company HQ was fun to clear out, but I still had contracts on me.

What's the point of leaving Stimpaks with Paladin Cross when she'll never use them?

We came across an invincible Mirerlurk in the Flooded Metro Tunnels and Cross fought the damn thing every single time. Of course, she died trying every time. So, I had to load a previous save, and go ALL THE WAY BACK to the beginning of the tunnel, save and then tell her to stay while I went all the back to the very end alone. Bah! Naturally, the Mirerlurk-that-wouldn't-die was at the very end of the tunnel.

I have no idea what to do with her. I bought the Romantic Theme from Moira hoping to spice things up, but nada.

Made Level 15 and went on a Small Guns Skill Book hunt and now have 100 skill level, with armor with +10 Small Guns boost. Before the hunt I had only found ONE SGSB, but now have 8 for +16 Skill Points.

Charon used a stimpak when he bit off more than he could chew. I expect Cross should be able to too.

You could just send her back to the Citadel. I wasn't planning on finishing the final quest, so I was getting tired of her comments. Besides, I had some slaving to do. :sly:

If I tell her to go back to the citadel, or to 'Part ways' in speech, can I get her back again, or is she a 'one shot deal?'

She'll wait for you at the Citadel.

OK. I was thinking if I told her we needed to part ways that I would never be able to use her again.

I hope she'll get herself fixed up from all the radiation she got from the Flooded Subway while she's there.

I ended up giving her a Minigun with nearly 3,000 rounds. She's very good with it. Maybe I'll give her a few more stimpaks, just in case. After all, I do have 180 of them...

I lost my savegame, I don't know how it happened but it's just gone. It's taken be back to the Capital Wasteland for some random and bloody irritating reason. I was just outside Galaxy News Radio in the savegame which I lost, with quite a few good items and loads of bottlecaps. I know I am a noob, that's why I asked for help a few pages back, but I don't think I'll need much help anymore because my savedata has been ruined, and that means it'll be quite a while before I play this again.

Is there a working autosave? You might be able to restart from that point on.

I always keep two save files of my current game for something like Fallout. I run a monthly backup of the PS3 hard drive.

I finally got Dogmeat (never had a chance to stumble upon the Scrapyard) and watched as he was then mauled by 3 Yao Guais about 20 minutes later. What a useless bastard he was. I'll stick with Fawkes.
