Which big battle? The Capitol building? Without spoiling too much: leave your minions outside if you want to explore it.

There's supposed to be some big 'ambush' when I get the team down the elevator, so I've read.

You mean leaving the hotel? That's easy, it's only 3 or 4 super mutants. Just give the Rangers some ammo. Especially the girl with the minigun.

Phhhbbbttt! That's it? I killed 4 times as much in the hospital; by myself!. Hopefully, I don't run into to many of them while going up to the roof. I'd hate to have to go back to Megaton a fourth time to unload all my crap! Good thing I leveled up during the quest and got the Strong Back perk!

Yeah, it's just the minor ambush at the bottom of the Statesman. The team magically fast travels without you to the Ranger Compound once outside too.

That girl's name is Brick, and I didn't like her looks, or her attitude. I did give her the ammo that I'd found, but unfortunately, I tossed a Frag Grenade in her general direction during our escape, and between my bad aim, and the mutant's bullets, she perished. I was, however, fortunate enough to get all of her gear, including her Ranger Battle Armor, and her unique Minigun. Reilly gave me another set of Ranger Battle Armor when the other two Rangers showed up at the compound. This is arguably the best armor in the game.

I finally completed it and all lived. I have the chance to do it again, but wont.

BTW, I purchased the "Science Theme" from Moira, as well the "Work Bench" and all I have is the Work Bench; so what gives?

Does your house look Science-ish? Do you have the House: Science Theme in your quest items or miscellaneous items?

Nah, it looks like I purchased the "My Laboratory" by mistake. What does it make? I made a 'new compound' but didn't tell me what it was.

Going for 'Declaration of Independence' quest next, for the Sydney's Ultra SMG glitch. Anything I should take with me that'll make the quest easier?

I have the Rock-It Launcher, and it appears that all items, regardless of their weight, cause the same damage, which is 27 at the moment.

You make one of the various drugs in Fallout.

What's the SMG glitch? If she has to live, then make sure you never lose sight of her. She will take stimpaks only if she can immediately use them. She is very fragile.

Damage by the Rock-it Launcher is not reflected in the DMG value. I have no idea how DMG is calculated, but I think Wikia has a handy chart showing actual damage values for most 100% repaired weapons. I think the regular Chinese pistol does the same amount of damage as the BB gun.

Completely random and you never know what it is, short of taking inventory? Weird.

They Sydney's SMG Glitch is getting her gun over and over again. It happens after the quest is over, ask her about her gun, ask her about her dad and play the recorded message he left for her.

So, Sydney's an escort mission, huh? Damn. I hate those.

The link says no number, that it "varies," whatever that means. http://www.wikicheats.com/index.php/Fallout_3_-_PC_PS3_XB360/Weapons I thought they meant it varies by weight of the object launched, but I guess not. I put a cue ball in there, and it was DAM 27. I launched a vacuum cleaner, which weighs 10 times the cue ball, and it was the same DAM level.

Don't worry about the escort part, just let her die and loot her (don't kill her yourself, I swung the red thing dangling from the ceiling at her ) I don't see the point of the glitch, you don't need it if it's for money (I 100%'d the game with 37 barter.)

I read somewhere that shooting a Teddy Bear at a Super Mutant is a one-hit kill. Can anybody test this?

The damage does vary by projectile weight. I had the hardest time killing raiders with books and cups until I found this crusty garden gnome. Did you fire your projectiles at an enemy?

Sydney also serves as a major ammunition vendor if she survives.

This is sort of funny. I got the game for christmas. I was in megatron for about 40 minutes and had a struggle getting out of the vault to begin with as i worked the game out and didnt save for the whole time i was in megatron finding out all the information i needed and gaining 2 side quests (favour for the girl, and job for whats his face). Anyway i just get through speaking to the little girl and head off into the church thing. I press X on what i thought was the door and actually ended up stealing something by accident and every single person in the church place chased me out with guns shooting and stabbing me and then the whole town proceeded to kill me!!! All of my progress lost since i entered the town! very harsh. There was no way to simply apologise and return the items that i took by accident. Im trying my best to be a good person and have good karma. guess ill re enter the town and start afresh. Its all good anyway really loving the game, its hard trying to find time for it though between ferrari challenge and MCLA!

I got lucky with a critical hit on a raider with a bent tin can in the torso for a one-hit kill. Bottles and abraxo cleaner seem to require more than one hit to take someone down with torso shots. There is no defense against the garden gnome and the vacuum cleaner.

For giggles, I took out the third raider on the top floor of Springvale Elementary from outside. 31% VATS to the head for instant kill with a Nuka-Cola bottle. :)

I'll have to stroll down to the teddy bear factory to test out the Super Mutant thing some time. Am I allowed to sneak critical one in the back of the head with a teddy bear? ;)

Finally finished Moira's Survival Guide. Have no idea what perk I got, but it posted "Survivor Perk" whatever that means.

I have yet to finish the Declaration of Independence quest, but I have the ink and just need to travel back to Sydney whom I left with Button Wig. I hope she doesn't die. She dies so easily. I left her alone for 20 seconds, and gets herself killed. Moron.

I've got that in my Megaton house, and although I haven't bothered to check it in a very long time, I distinctly remember seeing a note at the top, left-hand corner of the screen indicating what compound had been created and added to my inventory.

Check out Survival Guru under your Perks Menu. This tells me that my character received a 6% increase to both Radiation and Poison Resistance, and a 6 point bonus to both the Science and the Medicine Skills. I suppose that it is the same for everyone, but I'm not sure.

The Survivor Perk rewards are variable. It depends on the kind of answers you give Moira. The snide answers result in a ~5% critical hit bonus.

Thanks, I'll check it out the next time I fire it up. EDIT: Damn, got +15HP, but wanted DR. Oh well.

Well, I now no longer have to worry about caps. I have 120 Sydney's Ultra SMG. Sold 30 so far and bought a ton of stuff, plus I have 4,000 caps and plenty of spares. Nice.

I had to do the glitch twice, 'cause the game froze on my first time! Bah! I guess I had to many of them for the game to handle.

I have about 7,000 caps no cheating necessary. :D I had a huge cache of laser weapon ammo that i never use (laser guns might as well be pea-shooters).

I've just picked this game up for £20 at Game, and I have to say that I am initially impressed, even though I misunderstood what the game was (I thought it was an FPS!)

The graphics are good, but not as good as they look on the back cover, though I think my SD Wega has something to do with that. One thing I love is the V.A.T.S system thing where you can target parts of the body - I managed to decapitate someone in the Vault with a nice shot from my .10 pistol! :D I also like the dialogue, which is pretty hilarious at times, and the few characters I've met so far are varied and funny.

Has anyone completed the game yet? How long does it take?

Couldn't tell you I'm still early on in this game. What I am wondering is if you can ever view the front of your character? I spent all this time creating a custom appearance and I can't even look at it! 👎

Try the third-person view button. I think it's L2.

My first play through says 30 hours or so. I explored the wasteland before taking on the main quest. I'm taking my time with the second run.

Yeah I did, when you rotate the camera his back is always to you. Eh, I'm nitpicking.

Anyone feel that sneaking is hard. Man, you really have to approach slowly and from the right angle.

I have TONS of Raider armor, 12 Assault Rifles, 7 Miniguns and about 20 hunting rifles 'repaired' and valued around 170 caps each. I still did the SMG glitch anyway 'cause I LOVE FREE MONEY! :P

I'm at 80 hours and haven't even finished half of it, yet.

It's horrible at first, but it improves, but never becomes what you want it to be. Increase SNEAK skill to 70, use RECON ARMOR (+10 SNEAK), SHADY HAT (+5 SNEAK) and get the SILENT RUNNING perk if you're into silent kills, like myself.

Currently at Germantown PD rescuing some Big Town members and going for the 'Lucky 8 Ball' gift. I just opened the door and already a land mine went off in my face. I have a feeling this one isn't going to be easy.

Oh, and I keep hearing these loud "BOOMS!" when I play the game. Are those weapons going off? I read that an 'alien spaceship' crash lands while you're in the Wasteland, and wanted to know if that was it. Do I follow where the noise came from and look for a crash site? I understand you can get a different 'alien blaster' if you find it.

For me, those loud booms signal a rocket or a frag going off somewhere. If I look hard enough, I'll find a dead raider, a sentry bot or a wandering band of Outcasts.

Now, that's what I thought it always was. So, any truth to the 'this loud boom in the sky is an alien ship crashing' statement?

I've 100% it, but I did a lot of aimless exploring and looting. I love the open-ended aspect of the game. Took me 45 hours I think. There are also a lot of 'Unofficial' sidequests that won't count towards your total.

How do theme's actually work, when you buy more than one? I bought one before, just to see what it was, but haven't bought one to keep. I ask 'cause I understand that some themes will come with Skill Books. What happens to my old theme when I buy a new one?
