You can try some alcohol and some buffout for +20 carrying weight to temporarily fast travel. You will be crawling once you reach town. If you get addicted, then surely some of your loot can pay for 50 caps worth of meds. :)

Don't forget 'Ant Nectar.' That increases your carry weight, too.

I've wasted a large part of this weekend playing Fallout. I'm my own hero. This game felt so tough at the start, but now, at Level 20, I feel invincible (especially with Fawkes following me around). Early on, I tried to stay away from enemies. Now, I seek them out, just so I can bring the pain. I'm on the last part of the main quest, so I'm instead going around, discovering locations, and completing side-quests. No other game has been in my PS3 for at least two weeks. I will be sad when it's over :(.

The PS3 is not the premier platform for Fallout. The PC is, followed by the Xbox 360. They get better graphics and DLC. If it's only Fallout 3, then you're better off with the other two.

If there are other games you plan to play on the PS3 and you don't have a beefy PC, then Fallout on the PS3 makes sense.

I did not have any other games in mind other than GTA IV and Fallout 3. A PC isn't an option I guess, investing into such a rig with a quadcore, and a Gb of video graphics to max out the game graphics is going to reach far too deep into my pockets. So it's pretty much between the PS3 & XBOX360 right now... Plus the fact I've always played the Sony Playstations and I have no experience with an XBOX at all make up for me leaning towards the PS3 side...

(I do want GT5 when it comes out though...)

I hid over 30 weapons in a tool box, once. I came back to it several hours later and they were still there. Hide the stuff in something and you should be alright. Probably not for long, since items change every three or four days.

@Pako I have to admit, searching for the INK was a pain. I think you saved yourself some trouble by killing him.

Yep, hes dead. She's alive and well, however. Just need to find where this halo tape is that you speak of. Even if I don't exploit, that gun would be sweet. I did get my rail rifle made and my Rock-It-Launcher as well. I find lawn mower blades to do the most damage. :D

I found the holotape on a bed next to a skeleton in a room on the second floor of the Statesman Hotel during the Reilly's Rangers quest. Not sure if you can go back there and get it, but I really don't see why not.

The gun is plenty powerful, and has a nice spread pattern, too. Repairs with 10mm machine guns and there's a lot of ammo for it around.

I actually sold my Q6600 because I was tired of investing over and over again to upgrade the hardware. Besides that, I hardly used it anymore because of the PS3. I actually tried FO3 on the PC, but to make it look good I needed to invest (again) in a decent GPU. So I bought the PS3 version instead, and I did not regret it at all. FO3 is easily game of 2008 for me, even if we don't get any DLC. :)

I think that's it. Where Scribe Yearling buys the 'Pre-War Books' from you for 100 caps each. The INK is hard to find. It's in a box, on the second or third floor, in a special section of the Building. In the box is a bunch of other items you may not want, which makes it hard to spot.

I actually just kinda fell across it last night in the Arlington Library while completing the Wasteland Survival Guide Quest, of course I'm kinda crazy in that I don't mind taking the time to open every desk/locker/cabinet/box that I stumble across. But yeah I think it was in a box towards the back of the middle room on the 3rd floor that the Raiders have all barb wired up.

Edit----
Doubling checking a guide the box that contains the ink is labeled "Restoration Supplies." So that should definitely help locating it a bit faster.

Money seems to be the greatest factor indeed.

In fact, the choice has come down to either a PS3 or an XBOX360. Some mention serious reliability issues on the 'BOX, some throw the excuse away. The thing is, the XBOX is a bunch cheaper, and I could get it with Fallout 3 and Fable 2 for the price of a PS3 without a game. Also, the graphics are better on the 'BOX, and the PC and 'BOX gamers are getting three new expansion packs with at least 5 hours playtime more per update! So it's either a PS3 with FO3 and GT5 or an XBOX360 with FO3 and Fable 2... I don't even know when GT5 is coming!

Man, I've sworn not to buy a new console after the PS2, but I'm just doing it merely for this game. I can't stop watching it! The thought of playing this game on my 32" LCD screen with the Sony surround sound at midnight is just unbearable to ignore! :ouch:

Its fine, go get your Box.... It's worth it now that M$ will replace it for three years after purchase. I have both and with GT5's release date nothing short of invisible you will have time to save agin for the PS3. FO3 is very fun and addicting. I'm enjoying as much a Mass Effect, maybe more.

I have a question about "Strictly Business" quest. Do I MUST retrieve everyone they need me to, or can I just do the one's I can find? I mean, if one, or several, of the people are already dead or cannot be found, do I get 'excused' from finding them? I'm only concerned about the trophy. I don't care about the caps, since I have 20,000 of them.

I was told to do "Strictly Bus" quest, then start "Tenpenny Tower" quest at the same time. 'Cause, while I'm at the tower I can capture one of the guests I need for "SB" quest.
I didn't see your post until just now. As I've stated before, I'm playing this for the second time on the PS3. This time, I got Arkansas and Red to Paradise Falls and saved the game. I got Flak from Rivet City, got another slave collar from Grouse, got Susan Lancaster from Tenpenny Tower, returned to Paradise Falls, and earned the trophy. I don't need caps, and I really don't care if I actually finish this quest, so I reloaded the game. I did this because I did it the proper way on my first play through, and it really messed up my ability to trade with Shrapnel, because it seems as if he wanders all over the Wasteland looking for his honey....Flak. I did run into him a few times, and he apparently can't be killed, but it was a pain.

I even got the Tenpenny Tower Trophy without even initiating the quest. When my Science Skill was high enough, I simply opened up the gates to let the Feral Ghouls in, they took care of business, I got the Ghoul Mask and the Trophy, and then I reloaded my game. I didn't want the Ghoul Mask, and I really dislike the Tenpenny Tower Quest. IMHO, it is the worst quest in the game.

Wow, thanks for warning me. I wont complete it after a while of getting a bunch more Mini Nukes and Fat Mans from him (though I've only seen him have one Fat Man for sale, but didn't buy it due to low funds).

Now that sounds like fun, but what could I be missing if I did that and saved my game? I understand the Ghouls take over, anyway, so I might as well just let them in.

The Ghoul Mask is beautiful for once you reach the higher levels and just don't really care about the 10 or so XP you get from killing Ghouls.

So I finally started playing it. Its seems ok so far. I haven't even scratched the surface of the game yet. It really is oblivion with guns. The multiple choice options is a big difference, i restarted and it wasn't the same as the first time. Butch did not try to take my sweet roll and knock my block off like the first time.

Finally went to Evergreen Mills and not really sure what I need to do there. I killed the Behemoth, and got the Terrible shotgun from Smiling Jack after killing him. I didn't see myself every coming back to this place, so I just opted to kill him for it.

Finally have the MIRV, but haven't tried it. Was planning on killing the Behemoth with it, but the Raiders killed him when I let him loose by shooting the generator.

Anything else I gotta do? Freed the slaves, and they just sat there.

I don't like the Feral Ghouls, I'm not afraid of them, I don't care for any experience that they might give, and they serve as a good (albeit, random) source of Bobby Pins.

The challenge that I made for myself was to take out all of the Raiders while sneaking through the exterior and interior sections without having one shot fired in my direction. I accomplished this, finished off the Behemoth, freed the slaves, got three skill books, and the Barter Bobblehead....there's a few other odds and ends there, including the Terrible Shotgun, but that's about it. Smiling Jack has some useful ammunition at various times, but it is time consuming to get to him, kind of like Karl at the Meresti Station.

Damn, I missed the Barter Bobblehead! Do you remember where it was? If not, no biggie. I can look it up.

EDIT: It's on a shelf by Smiling Jack. I looked there, and never saw it. Gotta go back for it, if I want the Bobblehead trophy.

Also, Deputy Weld is dead! Poor fella.

Mills is my next stop. I have Fawkes with me and am at level 20. It really kinda ruins the fighting, not getting any experience points any longer, and none of the merchants having enough caps to buy any of the weapons and apparel I have. My locker at Megaton is jammed full of 100% condition Laser rifles, assault rifles, etc from that second to last mission. Anyway, are their any side missions anyone can recommend that are a load of fun before I beat the game? I am playing the 360 version, but the only difference is I get achievements instead of trophies. I am working on the bobble head collection, and killing the rest of the Behemoths. That Alien Blaster rocks for killing those guys.:sly:

this week i started a new game too get the trophies , ive played 10hrs and im constantly finding stuff i didnt find in my fist playtru lol

Even in my first play through, I constantly found things that I missed whenever I went back to an area a second or third time. Usually in places were a hard battle took place, and I went to rest and forgot to search.

I'm in Tenpenny Tower, with the old man, and I can't get him to blow up! Every time I try to lure him to get up and run into the land mines, he just falls back and over the balcony, falling to his death! Bah.

I'm taking the long route with this quest because I need the Speech Challenges for my trophy. I doubt I have more than 20 and 50 is needed. I hate to be forced to play it again just to win Speech Victories.

You shouldn't have to. There's at least one glitch that wasn't fixed by the patch that will allow you to easily earn the Silver Tongued Devil Trophy.
Go speak with Knock Knock, the morale officer in Little Lamplight, and you'll 'earn' this Trophy in a couple of minutes.

Got a couple more trophies last night. Including Superhuman Gambit, have Museum of Technology and Archives quests to do, they are in same area, so will be in the east for a while.

Dogmeat didn't last very long with me. 2 x Yao Guai's + plenty of shotgun shells = Korean mince.

Nice info, thanks. I guess I can pop a Grape Mentats (CHR+5) and a Speech glitch allows me to do it over and over again?

It'd probably be a good idea to use the Dirty Pre-War Businesswear as well as it adds +5 to Speech.

Some other stuff I've noticed:
* In taking advantage of the Bethesda Offices East Big Guns skill book exploit after collecting the 1st 4 books, waiting 3 days in between, I've now had to wait upwards of 5-8 days to get the Raiders to respawn. Is it better to fast travel back to Megaton maybe?

* Since I've added the Better Criticals perk I've noticed that it seems to have turned off the graphical effects of the Bloody Mess perk. Anyone else experience this?

That experimental suit's helmet, the one you find in Fort Independence, also adds to your Charisma. +3 i think?

Is there any way to "discover" Vault 87 without dying? I made a couple of runs for it in the radiation suit (with hot-keyed RadAway), but I didn't make it :D.

I suppose that it all depends on your Speech Skill Level. All my character's skills are maxed out at 100 now, but I don't remember what my Speech skill level was at when I took advantage of that glitch, since it was quite a while ago. I always save before trying most new things out, and I do remember that I had no problems at all. It was very simple....sort of like the Sydney Ultra SMG glitch, and I really don't think that it can be messed up at all.

I did this, and it never failed me. Of course, I took the time to travel back to Megaton in order to heal up, and to wait 3 full days (3 x 24 hours) before heading back to the Bethesda Ruins. I get the impression that you are simply waiting somewhere near the Bethesda Ruins, and I never tried this, so I don't know if that is what seems to be causing the problem that you've described.

Naughty Nightware is +10 and Button's Wig is +10 Speech, plus CHR. I also drink booze, and pop a Grape Mentats.

However, if you Speech skill is 60+ you get 100% Success. I got the trophy with no problems, but had a little scare. As I was winning speeches, the trophy never came. So, I knew I must have had 50 won by now and looked. 67! I thought, "Damn! Another glitch?" "Maybe I have to wait awhile after getting out of the convo... *DING* and there it was.

However, I won the Mayor McGrady speech to get it and screwed myself out of the Rescue From Paradise trophy. I load all the way back to Tenpenny tower to go back to the start and do it all over again. But, I got Strictly Business at the same time, so it wasn't that big of a deal.

Currently, I'm at Raven Rock going to meet the President, and only have that quest and one more to finish the game. However, I have several side quests to complete. I hope I didn't play to far and screw myself up again, like with the two trophies I mentioned above.

I need 10 more Bobbleheads and kill 3 more behemoth to finish out these trophies. Then, it's Agatha's Song and Shoot Head quests along with the two main quest trophies and I'm done with this game.

Only with a bunch of full conditioned Flamers. I wait three days, then four. You gotta wait an entire week for the enemy to respawn twice. Once after three days, then four. Repeat.

* Since I've added the Better Criticals perk I've noticed that it seems to have turned off the graphical effects of the Bloody Mess perk. Anyone else experience this?

I never got the Bloody Mess perk, but blood, eyes and heads go flying all over the place, anyway. Not always, but a lot of the times. Especially at 'Sneak Critical Shots' but I'm not sure if that's BM perk or not.

I have the same thing, even though i went through the Vault in Little Lamplight. I'm guessing there's some sort of an entrance somewhere, but i couldn't find it fast enough. I think it's one of the more interesting places on the map though, with all the dead space around it.

I read elsewhere that it's impossible to get near the door even with the console noclip cheat without being invincible. There's simply too much radiation.
