What other weapons have unique ways to attack enemies?

The Deathclaw Gauntlet deals damage "through" armor, meaning that any armor a hostile is wearing is useless.

I still have Dogmeat, Fawkes and Charon, but I want more. Anybody else I can get with a Very Good rating?

You have all three at once? You shouldn't be able to have more than 2 followers, one of them being Dogmeat. The other follower will tell you he has to leave you.

And no, Fawkes and Paladin Cross are the only characters who help you when you have good karma. Charon helps you no matter what, as does Dogmeat. Jericho and Clover (who is a slave girl in Paradise Falls you can also buy) are the ones who follow you if you have evil karma. And finally, you can buy Sergeant RL-3 (a robot who will follow you) or Butch will follow you after "Trouble on the Homefront" if you have neutral karma.

I have all three. However, I don't recall if I used all three for a mission at the same time, though. Right now, I have Dogmeat at home, since I'm afraid he's going to die. I needed him to find me the Firelance Alien Blaster and he's already done that. However, I was going to use him to find me the Mini Nukes near the "Crazy Preacher" who blows himself up, but wont now. I'll just shoot him in the head, instead.

I found that on my own and read up on the characters, but thanks anyway.

I don't think Fawkes will leave you if your Karma dips. It said he would be disappointed but not leave. I have to check YT videos of a guy who had all followers, or most of them, all at once. I gotta see how he did that.

I cannot wait for the Broken Steel add-on. But, it's not being released until March, now. It has been set back a month. Operation Anchorage was released a few days ago, but I didn't see it on the PSN.

I've rented this game, and I'm not sure if I get a different copy of the game that my saves, trophies, etc. are locked to the original copy. So, I think I'll just hold on to it, until the add-on becomes available.

Did they change their mind about not releasing DLC for the PS3? That would be awesome!

I didn't know they weren't going to have Broken Steel for PS3. It didn't make that clear in what I read. I don't really care about Anchorage, since it doesn't sound appealing to me.

Well, if no DLC at all for the PS3, I guess I can get rid of the game.

Microsoft's "exclusive" DLC certainly didn't quiet sales of Fallout 3 on PS3. Just scroll up for proof.

Has anybody else, with all trophies collected, noticed the game freezes a lot more than usual? My game has frozen on me five times in the last day or so, but only froze about that same amount in an entire month.

It's getting so bad I'm thinking about quiting for good, even though I haven't gone everywhere or done everything I want.

I had my first freeze today. Went through to Georgetown and there was some mutants, had to peg it back (hate Missiles!) and had a centaur and I was armed with a Shotgun. Game then freezes. First on any game on the PS3.

Doesn't change my opinion on the game. Best game I've played in a long time. Although, I am having thoughts creeping into my head of, "Another new place?"

Just got schematics for the railway rifle and dart gun. Am halfway through level 17 and I love the Rock-it Launcher. Very enjoyable, maybe not the most practical.

Hi everyone - I've been playing this game non-stop since I bought it about two weeks ago. Can't remember what level I am, either 16 or 17.

Has to be the most immersive game I've ever played. What Karma are you playing for? This game is going to have so much replay value. I'm currently gunning for good, and will try bad next time around.

Gutted that I didn't manage to hold onto Dogmeat for very long. After him dying twice and my reloading the previous save I thought, 'ok, one more go', and then he runs off and starts having a go at some bloatflies. Before I know what's happened, they've killed him. Flies, for Christ's sake!

Anyone know where I can find a crutch? Thought there was one in Evergreen Mills, but there wasn't. I'm in Fairfax at the moment. Still waiting for some Yao Guai to come to my rescue after Animal Friend 2. Am hoping that it's not going to be a wasted perk. I'd really like to have my own mutant bear! Come and get me now Talon scum!

What perks have people found most useful?

I'd say Animal Friend is a real saviour if you don't tend to fast-travel. That and having the Ghoul Mask make life so much easier.

One other question if you don't mind - the hotel room in Rivet City - how often do you have to pay out the 120 caps? I have stuff stored in it and I'm not keen on turning up to find it's gone because I wasn't still in possession of the room.

Cheers.

Every night I think, why don't you put it in the spare bed's trunk in the Common room?

I store all my stuff in my own place in Megaton.

Good point, cheers. I store pretty much everything in Megaton too, but am finding that with all the travelling around it's going to be necessary to have storage spread throughout the map. Good to have a stockpile of junk wherever there's an available workbench.

Better hotfoot back to Rivet City then!

Doing the Reilly Rangers quest has done wonders for my stimpak stocks. Now onto level 19. In trying to get more trophies, I have done 27 computer hackings, anywhere that is particularly high in terminals to hack? I've not explored the deep south that much atm, I was thinking Rivet City, but I don't want to be hacking into terminals that will give me bad karma.

well some places that have a safe too lockpick have a computer too hack too unlock the save , so i always try doing computer hacking . ive done over 65 locks but only about 25 hacks (only bin locked out once) . but what worries me more is the speech , im only at like 9 succesfull

Try the power stations sprinkled across the wasteland. Hack the computer, but do not disengage the lock. Then pick the lock on the safe.

I had a problem with speeches too, but somebody answered that question of mine a few posts back. :sly:

You shouldn't worry about computer hacks, either. There's plenty of opportunities in the game. I have 120, or so, and I have yet to go everywhere or do everything. It's best to use the strategy above; hack a computer and then pick the lock, if you need more picked locks for the trophy. If not, just hack the computer.

Gone through a million speech challenges of late. Tenpenny Tower then doing the "You Gotta Shoot him in the Head" just killed Crowley in the Museum lobby and now have the keys to Fort Constantine. Really need to get back on the main quests, almost half-way through level 19.

Take your time. The main quest can wait. I did miss the cha-ching kill confirmation once I reached level 20 though.

Same here. However, you can get it back every time you shoot off the Fat Man.

Just remember when reaching Level 20, the Grim Reaper's Sprint is the best perk in the game. Even if you fail to kill somebody in VATS, but have some HP left, if you go into VATS again, and kill somebody, and ALL HP will return. Sweet.

That would be AP....AP, not HP!

I didn't think Grim Reaper's Sprint was all that amazing at level 20. You should be enough a bad-ass at that point that the AP replenishment is more of a luxury than anything else.

I'm picking up Explorer my second time around. :)

Well, Charon died, not sure where, couldn't find a body. (Near the vault on mid-east side of the map) These aides haven't impressed me on this playthrough, are the evil characters better?

Even on my second play through, I still chose GRS for my main game when I got to Level 20. However, I do have a Level 19 save just a few points shy of Level 20 that I'll play every now and then just to try out some of the Perks that I didn't choose throughout the game. In addition, I have a Level 20 save file with the Explorer Perk that I used once (or maybe twice), but it is no longer useful, or necessary.

Well, after exactly 200 hours of playing time, my Fallout 3 game playing is over. The game goes back to GameFly. Since Wikia just made it official the PS3 wont be getting DLC, plus what is coming wont be here for several months, I see no need to keep it any longer.

I accumulated and leave the game with 37,888 Caps, 121 Mini Nukes, 800 Stimpaks, hundreds of each 'chems' and three followers.

Never did get to blow Tenpenny off his tower with placed mines, nor launch myself from the Washington Monument, but I tried.

Never did get Goalie's AP mask, either. Nor did I get to play as a female character, but I don't want to play any more. I got burnt out on it. The thought of starting over and opening all those metal boxes, safes, ammunition boxes and medical boxes makes me sick to my stomach.

One horrible thing is, it wasn't until a few days ago I learned you could push R3 on items to move them around. Crap knows what items I missed all this time. Oh well; that's what happens when you don't have the manual to read.

Overall, a great game, but too bad it was so glitchy.

Thanks to all that gave pointers and help. 👍

Congratulations, Solid Lifters. 👍

I too will be completing the game fairly soon. However, I'm still holding out for PS3 DLC. No amount of Microsoft blackmailing can persuade me.

You know what Fallout 3 needs? Cutscenes. After parting ways with President Eden and joining up with my new green friend Fawkes, I felt kinda sad. A well produced cutscene (I'm thinking Dead Space-esque)would have made the game less anti-climatic.

I'm noticing these crashes more. Seems to be when the action hots up, just faced some raiders with Paladin cross at Fairfax Ruins. I just don't think the game can cope with a big increase in graphics power needed, only ever crashed when the game has been into a big battle. It's a shame, as it puts a downer on an otherwise fantastic game.

Just hacked my first very hard terminal, which allowed me to unlock a very hard safe, and the big reward... 1 nuka cola quantum. WTH? At least it gets me one closer to the Data Miner achievement or it'd be a big letdown.

And, you should be happy with that. There's a limited amount of that stuff, and it's very useful. You can...

1. Drink it for a AP and HP boost.
2. Make 'Mississippi Pie' with it.
3. Nuka Grenade, anyone?
4. Sell it for profit.
5. Drop on the floor in your home because it looks cool!

Trust me, there are a lot of 'Very Hard' safes that have almost nothing of value once you get a high enough level to open them.

I still have the game, BTW. My boys want to play it, now. They never got the chance to play it, until now. My nephews came over a few days ago, and they want to borrow it. It looks like I'm not giving it back anytime soon.
