I think there is usually guide in firmware zip-file. Also you might want to search 911wheel.de blog for older firmware entries for help.

quick question, this is Fanatec's new website for North America and it's legit, right?
http://us.drift-zone.de/
thanks

Looks like it is. I already saw some post the same website but for australia in this forum

Nice find:tup:

Whois lookup for domain DRIFT-ZONE.com indicates that it was created 02-Feb-2007, last changed 02-Feb-2012, does not expire until 2013.

Registrant is Thomas Jackermeier of Endor AG.

How do you update the firmware? I have a regular CSR so it looks like time to update.

There's a step by step guide included in the zip file.

There is also the long awaited firmware update for the CSR.

Keep in mind there is no newer firmware than 706 available for the CSR.

You are absolutely right, by the way, the files from "firmware 737" are created on Jan 6 2012 so I assume that someone just changed the 721b archive name and posted it on that website.

The domain is fine mate, you were just including the "us" in who is lookup.

I'm sure it belongs to Fanatec Australia and they are testing it.

Corrected, see post above, you are pretty fast on the trigger.

Was just trying to clarify it one way or another if really legit.

Does seem to be a bit odd to put it up "live" if its not yet open for business, especially in this day of rampant phishing and spoofing on the www.

Noticed :) Totally agree, not very professional, but that website it is not the official Fanatec website/eStore.

Thomas did confirm they are working on a new Endor/Fanatec website and I'm pretty sure it won't go live until it is fully functional (including the prices).

Thanks for the replies guys, but now I'm a little confused lol.

New firmware version 737 for the CSR and the CSR Elite can be dowloaded here:

http://www.forzalife.de/2012/04/fanatec-csr-csr-elite-firmware-737/

Keep in mind there is no newer firmware than 706 available for the CSR.

I got my CSR right when they came out due to 2 GT2's crapping out on me in 3 months. The CSR came out right after the 2nd GT2 went out so I asked to get a csr instead. If I don't need to update then I won't cause everything seems fine, but if there is new firmware I would like to have the newest available.

The 737 one is a fake as said by ilonioum. Only get your firmware from Fanatec.com or from Thomas (CEO Fanatec) his blog at 911wheel.de.

The quote from ilonioum from a few posts above in which he explains why it is a fake.

Thomas said there is an Easter Egg in his blog somewhere related to a brand new firmware release of the standard CSR wheel. Did anyone find that? I don't have the wheel so I'm not going to bother looking.

Simracer92 found it after some diligent searching. There's an article about it at F-Wheel.com.

http://f-wheel.com/news/easter-egg-new-csr-and-csr-elite-wheel-firmwares

There are 737 versions for both the CSR and CSR E at the link below:

There is no change log available but as far as the CSR it's confirmed that the new firmware adds the ACL feature.

Why the hell would he hide firmware updates? i dont get it. doesnt make any business sense to me. i am a self confessed borderline fantec fanboy too... But thats just...just... (shakes head)

It is just an Easter present for the folks who find it and he was probably figuring it would be shared by everyone. I am sure it will get an official announcement with changelog soon.
Didn't know there were eggs hidden. :/

Don't hold your breath.....I've never seen a changelog with any Fanatec firmware......it's always kinda been a "flash if you dare" kinda deal.

Hey all, just a heads up but my Elite is in the trading post, up for grabs. I'm getting out of sim racing for a while until after the baby gets a little older.

Thomas likes making surprises and this is one of them. If you consider the business side this might not make sense but it also doesn't make sense then that the CEO of Fanatec is hanging out with us here :) In the end he is just a cool guys and I like this coolness.

By the way, congrats with your red status ;)

Thanks a lot.👍 In my opinion it still a little too big though.

I'm gonna search in the BMW part catalog, to see if i can find one which goes better with the wheel rim size.

Look for an old airbag, should have the right size ;)

Thanks, but most BMW steeringwheel emblems are oval in size. The oval part goes in the steering wheel it self for securing the emblem.

I'll probably go for a wheelcap emblem sticker, that should do the trick.

Strange :odd:

There doesn't seem to be much info around about the new 737 firmware, and where have all the people gone that were so excited about the CSW a few months ago?

Any of you guys with the CSR notice any differences apart from the obvious ACL feature?

We're still here (well, I'm still here) and very excited about the CSW. It's just that there isn't much reason to talk about it right now. I already know everything I need to know about the wheel to know that I will buy it.

The other details, like the extra features it will have will leak out over the next few weeks.

Hi, I flashed my CSRE with firmware 737 but my PC no longer recognises the H shifter.

I've recalibrated it and it works fine in Forza.

When the CSRE is in G25/PC mode the PC has no problems with the shifter.

I've tried reflashing the wheel and reinstalling driver 115 and 116 but still nothing, the wheel also calibrates way off centre each time - I recalibrate it but any time it's unplugged or switched off it forgets the centre again.

mhm now it seems they closed the site for non-betatester of their new website... password authorization required now...

I am the cause of that in a way. ;)
To be honest I don't know why it wasn't password protected in the first place, but I gave Thomas that tip (via the CT supervisor as that seemed the quickest route at the time). It should be common practice anyway to password protect a site in development when it is hosted on a public domain (in other words the Internet), simply because you don't want people messing with it.

Does anyone know anything about CSW? can we order soon so that we have the steering wheel in April .......?

When the last poll ends and the last winner gets their equipment send to them hopefully by the end of next week, then it will take about a week to 14 days for that to arrive (maybe longer due to customs. Forgot how long the hold up was with the CSR Elite). Then after the last person gets his stuff the countdown timer until the embargo ends starts. Which is 14 days unless there are exceptional circumstances that lengthen this period. Looking at the CSR Elite launch then the CSW pre-order will start during or by the end of this testing period for the reviewers. So I don't expect stuff until after this period, which is the second half of next month most likely.
A little disclaimer. This theory is all based on the CSR and CSR Elite launches and is thus pure speculation, so there are no guaranties it will happen this way.
