I am going to try to put this all into perspective without taking sides so we can bring this thread back to topic.

Thomas has a good sense of humor about the whole ISR fiasco

From the iRacing forums a few minutes ago:

Thomas Jackermeier2

This is great promotion unless you have hundreds of V1s in stock which sell off much slower after such a leak happened. In our case it was not so ideal and it came to a situation where we ran out of stock of V1 in the USA but sales in EU slowed down after the V2s appeared in the ISR video.

But if a manufacturer or game developer wants to leak something on purpose ISR is the best adress. Just tell them to keep it confidential

LOL

According to Thomas's posting on iRacing posted by superbike81, ISR's "leak" was attributable to the decrease in sales of hundreds of CSP units in Europe.

So all opinions aside regarding ISR's evaluation process/prowess they seem to have an audience with some impact in the community, to my surprise more so in Europe than USA regarding potential CSP purchasers.

As I am saying for more than 4 year now... ISR guys have no idea about they're talking about, they never had any idea what they were talking about and they really deserve to be ignored by core-communities by largest imaginable margin.

The sim community is really small, and the "core-communities" amar212 is referring are even smaller.
So for good or bad, it seems to me that ISR is one of the agents in the sim realm that attracts newbies and casual sim racers to the community.

...and some of these people eventually evolve into participants of the "core-communities" referred to.

A lot of casual sim racers (myself included) have been exposed to hardware products by ISR's shows we might otherwise not of known about and/or purchased, in my case, most recently DSD Tilton-style pedals, GranStand Seat Module, and one year ago a Fanatec wheel.

Those sales drive the community's growth, which provide the funds for manufacturers to provide the "core-communities" sim racers with new goodies.

So just to clarify things, I am not taking sides, I believe that quite a few people here have made some valid points about ISR.

But this is a really small community and the more people drawn to this community will help it continue to evolve, so even taking ISR's perceived warts into consideration they do play a constructive role.

I believe a few days ago DG at ISR publicly stated that he was burying the hatchet in the last post of page 3 on the CSW CT thread.

But this came out of the blue from Stevo30x yesterday in response to my post regarding previous CSP V.2 comments by Thomas that LogiForce posted on this thread.

Thats nothing new from Darin Gangi. Hes went off like that once before that I know of and once confronted he does a U turn. I argued with him once over a statement he made (Cant remember it now) but as soon as I confronted him he got up in arms and eventually backed down and reverted his comment. He thinks he isall high and mighty but a lot of people are after losing al respect for the man because of his attitude.

…and the thread has since evolved to this post I am writing.

The problem is that they seem to have quite the impact on the sim racing community and can cause serious problems with their «expert» opinions on some of the smaller game developers and companies...

And the way they review codemasters titles and how they used to praise the Fanatec wheels and what they say about them now makes feel like they are somewhat biased in their shows...

I do watch every show (in the land of the blind the one eyed man is king) but I just wish there was more reliable sources out there... I myself prefer watching teamVVV youtube (Alan) for example (when it comes to previews and reviews)

This is kinda off topic but their are other net shows out there
http://simracingreview.com/index.html I like this guy because he use to do a show on Outdoor life network or something similar. On topic he does hype up Fanatec products also lol.

Thomas, if bayern win tonight's game on penalties can you send me a CSW ;)

Both occurrences seemed unlikely an hour ago!

Edit: bayern won :D

Nice no need to watch the tape I made.

Wow! I'm getting a huge headache looking at the website.

I never looked at the site, but I am amazed it's even still called a website and not a spam site. And what an awful sight and site it is. The last time I saw something this bad was in the early days of the Internet, like around 1995. lol
The man makes nice videos though, which I like to watch. However his provided information has not been of benefit for me yet. But yeah, the site... someone needs to look at it and make it purdy fast.

^ Roger that about the site LogiForce. I have never been able to find a link on that site to a forum either.
I guess its one way communication no community interaction.

I wonder what the connections to the sim manufacturers are, he has a few rigs, gear and a lot of Fanatec stuff.

Fill me in if I am ignorant, but a few months this guy's rig, gear, and GT5 reviews started popping up out of nowhere.

I agree with this, but one thing should be a paramount once you have position in media-pool as they have:

When you have such great influence on the public, you should act with accordingly high standards for your presentation of opinions.

It is beyond tragicomical to watch many of their episodes where they're just talking things that have no connection with the reality. If you really want to build a reputation, you don't take things for granted or based on some sporadic feeling. You need to re-evaluate everything you're going to present in order to be objective and present your content in the context.

But nevermind, I ask too much probably. However, I do agree about their influence on the more casual market and I give the credits for making racing more popular. But if would just raise their standards for 50% it would bring them immense recognition in all types of players an at the end everybody would be satisfied.

Similar problems that you point out are also on real TV shows. For example every single race in "the car show" on Speed channel is fixed! (trust me I know this) It just a theater and car advertising. And the host mr Corolla is just a joke to be real petrol head(gear head for US :) ) I e.g. would be too embarrassed to do performance car reviews on TV if I could not even drive properly. There are much more professional youtube reviewers than Adam on major TV channel.

Nobody in the US takes The Car Show seriously. Of course every race is fixed..... & they stole their desk from sports center in the 80s.

Thomas if your reading this, When you go to China please give us some pictures of new product ! :P It may hold us over until we get to see some reviews.

Sincerely,
Future CSW owner

Tired and disappointed .... wait till June .... "Worst case, APRIL" = (

Um, april is not yet over. ;)
You cant hang on his quoted release dates anyways. i still get a laugh out of the Clubsport Wheel introduction video in you tube where he posted it back in august or something and pointed directly to the camera and said emphatically "this will be available THIS YEAR!" hehe, hey at least he stuck with his original price points, to me thats more important. we still luv ya Thomas!

If the wheel is reliable it will be well worth the wait.

CSP V2 will be shipped together with the ClubSport Wheel and we expect the first shipment in USA, EU and AUS in June. We will start taking pre-orders from our new website in May

Now my only question is will this DR's Guide to Inverting CSPs still work with the newly designed clutch pedal. You cant just swap the inputs now & the whole pedal mechanism will need to be switched.

Time will tell, either way i plan to invert mine so ill share here on GTP how it goes.

Im very sorry for the OT but...

Loved the review he did on Nascar 2011 the game PS3... very indepth

+1, they are just show, they understand the physics in the game little more then average Joe. They just give better scores to those who pay. But they are nice to watch, and certainly their opinion is not to be taken to seriously.
they should have used Top Gear models or running the show. I guess that model takes time to evolve.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and one thing for sure is you can't make everyone happy. Darin and Shaun and the good folks at ISR do more for our community then you realize including a lot of volunteer work.

I guess you two guys are very committed to our community as well, what is it you guys do again?

My word, worst review ever. "It says The Game on the box, shoulda paid more attention to that" :ouch:.

I do wonder sometimes.

Fighting talk there Ant. Lol.
I don't mind the ISR guys myself. I remember there 5 wheel shoot out with fondness.

When Fanatec started out ISR was quite a powerful platform for them.

Now Fanatec have direct contact to each community and no longer need ISR at all.

DG's appointment as CS was a political move rather than a realistic option. I may well be wrong and Gangi was a customer support agent before and outside of ISR but I don't know that for sure.

Just my opinion. Nothing more, nothing less :) And to be honest, this whole discussion do not belong here, so I will not take any more part in it. I PM'd you my original post sand I stand on your full disposal to continue this discussion out of public.

And BTW congratulations on the cockpit award, well deserved 👍

For the Record I've levelled the same accusations at Amar is some respects. I've said he sometimes needs to be more critical of his appraisals. (Still love you Amar). And yes you have done things for the community also.

One thing is for sure. It would be a dull place without any of you. Where could I get my drama fix otherwise. We're all on the same team. (Sometimes). Lol.
